In at least one instance, a sniper cycles the bolt on his rifle while preparing to fire. Cycling the bolt on a bolt action rifle would merely have the effect of ejecting the first cartridge unfired, and there was no cartridge ejected at all, so the rifle must be empty.
During the fight against the Somali pirates, one of the men on the helicopter has a silencer on his weapon. Given the fact that a helicopter makes far more noise than a silencer, as well as the fact that the man with the rifle is not trying to stay hidden, a silencer would be only a hindrance, since the muzzle velocity of silenced weapons is lesser than that of unsilenced ones.
