The CNN Originals hub debuted on Discovery+ on Friday, as the new home for the news channel’s streaming library following the abrupt closure of CNN+.

The hub was announced earlier this month, and features over 800 episodes of content from CNN Original Series, CNN Films, and Hln Original Series. Additional content will be added after their linear run on the CNN cable networks.

Some of the original content that appeared on CNN+ has popped up elsewhere. The documentary The Last Movie Stars, about Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward, debuted this summer on HBO Max. Chris Wallace’s talk show, one of the marquee offerings, will return in September on CNN on Sunday nights and on HBO Max.

Among the original library titles offered on the new hub are 1968: The Year That Changed America, American Dynasties: The Kennedys, American Style, Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown (Seasons 1-12), The Bush Years: Family, Duty, Power,...

Starting today, Discovery+ subscribers will have access to many of CNN’s most popular evergreen television series, including popular food shows “Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown” and “Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy” and documentaries like “The History of Comedy” and “Diana.” The series can be found under a new CNN Originals hub on Discovery+, the latest addition to the popular documentary-heavy streaming service.

Since WarnerMedia and Discovery merged to become Warner Bros. Discovery earlier this year, CEO David Zaslav has made the consolidation of the conglomerate’s streaming services a top priority. One of his first moves was to scrap CNN+, a streaming service that the company had invested over 100 million into, just a month after it launched. CNN+ primarily focused on content made by CNN personalities that was not strictly news-related. HBO Max is out with its list of everything new coming to the streaming service in October and everything leaving at the end of the month.

The list includes HBO Originals like the limited series “The Undoing” starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant, out Oct. 25, and David Byrne’s “American Utopia” special event about Byrne’s Broadway show that electrified audiences, out Oct. 17.

There is also Nathan Fielder’s comedic docuseries “How To With John Wilson,” out Oct. 23, and the first season finale of “Lovecraft Country” on Oct. 18.

Among the things leaving at the end of the month are “Amelie,” “Ocean’s 11,” “V For Vendetta,” “Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King” and “Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.”

With Lovecraft Country still providing HBO and HBO Max with its horror content through October, the streamer is looking elsewhere for its spooky season offerings. HBO Max’s new releases for October 2020 feature some truly awesome horror library titles.

Jordan Peele’s Us, John Carpenter’s The Thing, and David Fincher’s Se7en all arrive on Oct. 1. That alone should be enough to last you through spooky season. And if it doesn’t, It: Chapter Two is right there as well. October is also a big month for Batman and Superman with Man of Steel arriving on Oct. 1 along with a whole of animated specials dropping that same day.

In relation to the library titles, this isn’t HBO Max’s strongest month from an original perspective. But there is still plenty to like here. The West Wing election special arrives on Oct. 15. That will be followed by David Byrne...

It’s almost spooky season, and the various streaming services are making sure that subscribers have got plenty of great horror content for all ages available to watch this Halloween. What’s especially amazing about Amy Entelis’ achievements at CNN is that this is her second act — and one that surprised a lot of people. I first met Amy when she was a talent executive at ABC News, where for more than two decades she hired correspondents and anchors who went on to become household names, including a number of women and other journalists who reflect the diversity of this world.

She is proud of us, having brought us in and coached us and served as our friend and mentor. It’s more than pride, really. In Yiddish the word is “kvell” — almost a bursting with joy for the success of someone you love. Her greatest joy was seeing us succeed.

Veteran CAA agent Scott Lonker has been named president of Kimmelot, the new media entity created by Jimmy Kimmel and Wheelhouse Entertainment CEO Brent Montgomery.

“I have had the dream job at CAA – not just because of our talented, maverick clients, but also because of the incredible team of friends who I’ve been in the trenches with from the beginning,” said Lonker in a statement. “Only an opportunity of this magnitude, and working closely and directly on creative with the likes of Jimmy and Brent – could have propelled this change. I am beyond appreciative for the support of my colleagues at CAA, and plan to continue being able to work with them as we grow Kimmelot in the coming months and years.”

CAA TV packaging agent Scott Lonker has been tapped by Jimmy Kimmel to run his recently launched media production company Kimmelot, the company announced on Monday.

Launched last fall and described as Kimmel’s “creative lab,” Kimmelot creates content in the unscripted, scripted, digital, app/mobile-based realms, with initial projects focused on comedy. Lonker will step down from his role at CAA to serve as president of the Los Angeles-based media company, which operates under Brent Montgomery’s Wheelhouse Entertainment.

“I could not be more excited. Scott is smart, creative, experienced and well-liked and, while the fact that he decided to leave a great job at CAA to run Kimmelot does make me question his instincts, I’m sure it will all work out fine,” Kimmel said in a statement.

Exclusive: John F. Kennedy and family are set to be profiled in a two-part documentary for Viacom’s UK network Channel 5.

The British commercial broadcaster has ordered The Kennedys (w/t) from its own production division Elephant House Studios. The doc will chart the rise of America’s first family from their humble immigrant origins to become one of the richest and most powerful families in the U.S.

It will trace this journey from Patrick Kennedy’s arrival in East Boston in 1849 through the Kennedy’s growing wealth and political influence of his grandson, Joseph P. Kennedy. It will chronicle the political and personal lives of the family members and will feature analysis from experts and first-hand accounts from people who were there.

The two-parter will air later this year. The doc is produced by Elephant House Studios’ Jeff Anderson and has been ordered by factual commissioner Lucy Willis.
