Lacks any sense
The movie is funny in parts but doesn't make sense at all. After all the heavy buildup and hype for Nayantara as some feminist and a strong-willed woman, she falls for Nivin who is an absolute knob in the movie. Dhyan does try to portray some positive dimensions of Nivins character, but it falls flat. After all the stunts that Nivin pulls not only with Nayantara but also her dad, no idea why anybody would accept to marry him (lol). A stupid movie overall, compounded by the fact that both Nivin and Nayan are such good actors. If it were some newbies the film would have been okay, but with this starcast, it's a crime to give them a half baked script with confusing characters.

What utter rubbish !
Worst movie seen in a long time. Malayalam movies should stop glorifying that drinking alcohol, smoking, immaturity of men, women who stick on to unhealthy relationships are great assests to behold. Horrible screen writing, horrible script, horrible dialogues. Complete waste of money and time. Usually can tolerate comedy movies because atleast once or twice they make you laugh, this movie even failed in that. To the makers of this movie : Get a life. Seriously.

Disappointing on many fronts
This movie had me expecting a lot, considering that Nayantara and Nivin are stellar actors and with a strong supporting cast, this should have been the rom-com of the year. But it isn't.
The movie revolves are the will-it-wont-it relationship between Nivin and Nayantara's characters. A lot of negatives in this film which really put me off:
1. A non-linear narrative that tries to be edgy, but does not really take you anywhere - there's barely any story. Weak script. Weak screenplay. The last 15 minutes were the only remotely interesting part of the movie.
2. Cringe-worthy jokes. There are about 2 memorable jokes in a movie that tries to make 200 of them.
3. The movie spends a lot of time on the characters' drinking and smoking habits - get this - triggered by a failed puppy love relationship. The multiple drinking scenes do not add any dimension to Nivin or Aju's characters. Nivin remains a born rich but good for nothing, Aju remains a bum cousin. Nivin's is a very superficial character. It's obvious he has insecurities, but, you don't feel any sympathy for him because he is a dick for the most part of the movie.
4. Nayantara is supposed to be a feminist, but there is nothing justifying that anywhere in the movie. She does not bring her full acting prowess, her make up is through the roof, and her character is shallow and terribly lacks logic.
5. The movie as a whole makes no sense to me. Each lead character became more pathetic as the movie progresses, they seem without basic sense. The characters don't have any arc, they remain who they were at the beginning of the movie. A very toxic relationship is somehow portrayed as oh-so-precious, neither of them grow in the relationship, it just oscillates between will-it-wont-it. Neither lead character brings any goals or milestones or anything of value to the relationship, but, because it's love (WTF), they just have to think of marriage. A terrible portrayal of love.

A beautifully shot old story
The title of the movie says it all, love and drama rules this movie. First half of the movie makes you love the characters, the content appeared fresh, but as the movie dragged along, the fresh notion just disappeared as a lot of recurring scenes, and emotions spoiled it. The character portrayed by the hero seemed unconvincing. The romantic pair is the main highlight of the movie.
The direction and screenplay is awesome, a job well done.
The cast is superb, nobody is wasted, everybody is used to the maximum.
The story is one of the downside, it offered nothing new, the story will be the reason why this movie will still be a mainstream rom com movie.
Overall a good movie

Usually can tolerate the worst of comedy movies as they make you laugh once or twice, this movie even fails to do that. Complete waste of money and time. Cant call it family entertainer as being wrongly propagated, as the only thing its entertaining is that being a complete drunkard and immatured jerk of a man is okay. Seriously stop making movies that create such impacts on kids and youth. To the makers of this movie - GET A LIFE

Definitely watchable
After Premam (2015) Nivin Pauly returns to his forte in Love Action Drama (LAD). Its such a laugh riot to see Nivin's comic timing and comic expressions after a long time.
LAD is a light hearted movie, but without much of a story, some vintage Nivin Pauly comic scenes, a beautiful Nayanthara, good support from Aju Varghese and the fun kudukku song, which grows on you.
But the movie has drawbacks:
Though the movie looks slick and the presentation is very colourful, how I wish the makers would have given some thought to the plot and introduced some layers to make it interesting.
Can't comment much on Dhyan Srinivasan's direction debut as it seems he opts to play safe with a simple plot and bringing in superstars Pauly and Nayanthata
If u want to see a light hearted comedy Nivin Pauly film (and he is completely in form), have a few laughs and come out of the theatre feeling light, then LAD is the movie for you.
The movie is sure to appeal to youngsters and i will b surprised if it doesnt become a hit.

But the movie has drawbacks:
- too many scenes with Nivin and Aju Varghese and not all the jokes hit home
- there is nothing in terms of a plot, boy meets girl, wants to marry, tries to impress, misunderstanding arises, etc
- all through the movie Pauly is shown either drinking or smoking, not sure why this was required in almost every scene
- too much of back ground music in every scene which sometimes becomes jarring
- it seemed like when playing a drunk every person in the film was trying to imitate Mohanlal

Nonsense movie...Not at all recommended...Waste of time and money
The movie could have been titled as something related to alcohol... Bcoz most of scenes in the movie is all about drinking alcohol & smoking.. There is no love, no drama...only some horrible action scenes in the end. How could nayanthara choose such a film...Nivins acting will irritate you...He has talent to do romantic comedy films...but this film has no real romance and no striking comedy.Dhyan sreenivasan...you have a lot to learn from your father and brother...Think a lot before doing another movie or never do another one.
Watch the film at your own risk...

Senseless movie. Don't waste your time.
Bad movie. No sense.Music one song first song was ok. Cheap script. Dhyan go and learn direction and do movies. Even cameo role of Vineeth Sreenivasan was poor. Nepotism, pure nepotism.
Horrible and INSULTING

Watch it for Nivin and Aju duo.
The movie is the story of Dineshan and Shobha, the events leading to their love and marriage. The cast and the crew did justice to the genre of the movie, romcom. The performance of Nivin and Aju is the backbone of the movie.

Hard to find a more worse movie
A very weak story line. One word will describe it- Mediocre. The only thing that you will remember are the scenes of alcohol consumption. What does Dhyan Srinivasan think? That a film full of drinking and smoking scenes are gonna be great? I seriously think that some liquor baron must have contributed to a major share of production costs, otherwise how does one explain the above scenes. Seeing these scenes foolish youth are gonna start drinking n smoking and there's no marks for guessing whose bank accounts are getting filled. I can't imagine how Nyanthara agreed to do this film. The standard of Malayalam films have sunk to the bottom of the deep ocean. By the way why call this a Malayalam film when most dialogues are in Tamil(with no subtitles either) If Dhyan wants to make a Tamil film, go ahead, but don't say it's a Malayalam film. People, don't waste your time on this movie. I too was fooled by the ratings and reviews. However the movie depicts one fact, that once you are addicted to alcohol and smoking, you're never going to change(anyway it's difficult to beat the habit and there is nothing glamorous in getting liver cirrhosis and respiratory cancers)

Wafer thin plotline, made watchable by an in-form and funny Nivin Pauly
The movie marks the return of the Nivin Pauly we know and love in the genre that made him a superstar. A slapstick, original romcom that has you ROFLMAOing all through the first half, LAD delivers unexpected twists and turns in a fun but wafer-thin plot that keeps you guessing.
Although the movie loses steam in the second half and has not managed to utilise Lady superstar Nayanthara's acting prowess to any major effect, Nivin yet again proves to be the saving grace with some brilliant acting, in a climax that ensures you leave the theatre with a smile on your face

One time watch....
The story line of the movie has failed drastically, and the movie only managed to get a decent rating was because of the jokes, and Nivin Pauly's acting skills.

Utter Garbage
I don't get why people go after illogical things in the name of "entertainment". Dhyan Sreenivasan should find another career. Direction and script writing is definitely not his cup of tea. His performance in Kunjiramayanam was the only good thing he did.
Coming to LAD, there were some moments that made me laugh and that's it. Even I hated Nivin Pauly's performance. It's obvious that Dhyan is not capable of bringing anything out of the actors.
If you want to make the audience laugh, put some work into it. Be creative, incorporate funny moments into a good script. Take Vellimoonga. It's a perfect example of an entertainer with a great script. It entertained us throughout its runtime.
LAD makes no sense at all. Watch it if you're okay with illogical substandard movies.
