A crane accident on the set of the film resulted in the deaths of 3 crew members and the injury of 10 others. R.Rathnavelu was the interim cinematographer during that time when the main cinematographer Ravi Varman was unavailable. In fact, director Shankar, Kamal Haasan and Kajal Aggarwal narrowly escaped the accident themselves. Following the accident, Shankar donated 1 Crore Rupees to the families of the affected.
Lokesh Kanagaraj, who had previously collaborated with Kamal Haasan on Vikram (2022), got trolled for speaking highly of Indian 2, given that the film had been panned since its release. One such comment joked that maybe someone showed him Indian (1996) again with the title card and credits of Indian 2.
Kamal Hassan's prosthetic make up was criticized.
Sequel went on floors almost 22 years after original which was in 1996 titled "Indian"
Few months before the release it was revealed that film would release in two parts due to its length.
