In particular, following her spellbound performance in tvN’s hit rom-com Queen of Tears, the actress rose to global fame. As her character Hong Hae In became a fan favorite, K-drama lovers began looking forward to her next big role. As per the latest update, the wait is seemingly over.

On February 14, Korean media outlet Star News reported that Kim Ji Won has received a casting offer for the upcoming medical drama Doctor X: Age of the White Mafia. Her agency, HighZium Studio, briefly confirmed the reports, saying, “She is positively considering the offer.” If she decides to appear, the talented actress will play the lead role of Gye Soo Jung, a genius doctor with a troubled past.

A brand new and exciting K-drama at Netflix, Dear Hongrang, wrapped up filming in May 2024. Dear Hongrang stars Jo Bo Ah, Lee Jae Wook, and Jung Ga Ram will be released on Netflix in Q2 2025.

Dear Hongrang is an upcoming South Korean Netflix Original period thriller series written by Kim Jin-a and directed by Kim Hong Seon, who previously directed three Netflix projects, including both parts of Money Heist: Joint Economic Area, Luca: The Beginning, and The Guest. The K-drama is an adaptation of Jang Da-hye’s novel Hong Rang: Swallowing Gold.

The production companies involved in the series are Studio Dragon, Ace Maker Movie Works, and H House. Io Content Group is listed as the co-producer, with Netflix as the exclusive worldwide distributor for the K-drama.

Blackpink member Jisoo and award-winning actor Park Jeong-min’s upcoming Korean zombie apocalypse series “Newtopia” is set to debut on Prime Video, the streaming service revealed on Wednesday.

The series will premiere globally on Prime Video Feb. 7 and on Korean streamer Coupang Play on the same date. It follows a couple’s journey to reunite amid a zombie outbreak in Seoul. Park plays Lee Jae-yoon, a man completing his mandatory military service, while Jisoo takes on the role of Kang Young-joo, his girlfriend navigating early career challenges.

“Having started his mandatory military conscription at a later age, Jae-yoon faces anxiety about his future. Due to challenges from being apart from his girlfriend Young-joo, they have a sudden break-up after an argument. However, a zombie outbreak spreads across the city, forcing Jae-yoon to step up as leader of his squad,” the official synopsis reads. “Meanwhile, Young-joo experiences her own difficulties as a rookie in the workforce.

South Korea’s Cj Enm has appointed Jang Kyung-ik as CEO of its stock market-listed Studio Dragon unit. South Korea’s Plus M Entertainment is set to launch sales on upcoming romantic drama Pavane: For A Dead Princess and action thriller Night Fever in Cannes.

Pavane: For A Dead Princess is directed by Lee Jong-pil, known for 2020 comedy drama Samjin Company English Class and 2015 period drama The Sound Of A Flower.

It will reunite Lee with Samjin actress Ko A-sung, who also played the lead in Because I Hate Korea, which opened last year’s Busan International Film Festival. Further cast includes Byun Yo-han of box office hit Hansan: Rising Dragon and Moon Sang-win of drama series Wedding Impossible.

The streaming service revealed all of the TV shows and movies that are coming to it’s platform, including quite a few fan favorite movies and some holiday features as the holiday season kicks off.

Independent distributor Film Movement has picked up all North American rights to award-winning folk horror film “Seire.” The Korean chiller will be released theatrically in 2022, followed by launches on home entertainment and digital platforms.

The film takes as its central premise the Korean superstition that nobody in the family of a baby less than three weeks old – the ‘seire’ period – should attend a wake. And that failure to take precautions risks misfortune.

The story, penned by writer and first-time feature director Park Kang, sees the father of a newborn attend the funeral of an ex-girlfriend. His encounter with her twin sister is followed by a series of unexplained and discomforting episodes.

Park previously dipped his toe in the horror genre with short film “Deal” in which a man tries to trade away his nightmares with someone reputed to be a buyer.

Netflix has formed a partnership with Korean media group Cj Enm and its Studio Dragon subsidiary that incorporates a multi-year content production and distribution agreement.

The deal also gives Cj Enm the right to sell up to 4.99% of Studio Dragon to Netflix.

The three-year partnership, which comes into effect at the beginning of next year, will see Studio Dragon’s roster of content creators producing original series to be streamed by Netflix around the world.

Leading South Korean entertainment media company Cj Enm and its production subsidiary Studio Dragon have partnered with Netflix on a multi-year content production and distribution agreement.

Cj Enm encompasses media, film, and music production and operates 17 TV channels including tvN, Mnet and Ocn, while Studio Dragon is known for its scripted TV content such as Guardian: The Lonely And Great God, The Legend of the Blue Sea, Signal, and Stranger.

Starting in 2020, the studio will produce original series that will be available on Netflix, which currently has more than 158 million subscribers in more than 190 countries.

Netflix has signed a production and distribution agreement with Korean media outfit Cj Enm and its subsidiary Studio Dragon, one of the country’s leading series producers.

Studio Dragon has credits including the Guardian: The Lonely And Great God, which is one of Korea’s most successful shows of all time.

The three-year pact, kicking off in 2020, will see Studio Dragon produce original series that Netflix will distribute on its platform globally. The streamer will also receive distribution rights to other select Studio Dragon titles not produced through the partnership.

The deal follows pre-existing ties between Cj, Studio Dragon and Netflix, which has seen the SVoD stream series including Stranger, Mr. Sunshine, Memories of Alhambra, Romance Is A Bonus Book, and Arthdal Chronicles.

As part of the partnership, Cj Enm will also have the right to sell up to 4.99% of Studio Dragon shares to Netflix.
