During the 2021-2022 season 94 scripted series earned the ReFrame Stamp for gender-balanced hiring. Among them were “Bridgerton,” “Euphoria,” “Abbott Elementary,” “Yellowjackets” and more. As 200 series were considered, 47 were found to earn the stamp — a 7 decrease since the previous year.
Each “Stamped” series was found to hire women or individuals of other underrepresented gender identities (including those who are non-binary or gender non-conforming) in at least four out of eight key roles including writer, director, producer, lead, co-leads and department heads. Additional points were awarded to productions that hire women of color in key positions, and to those with overall gender parity in their crews.
Stamp designation is determined by ReFrame, an initiative of the Sundance Institute and Women in Film Los Angeles (Wif) in partnership with IMDBPro. ReFrame examined IMDbPro data on the 200 most popular narrative series with a minimum of three episodes released between June 1, 2021 and May 31, 2022 (the 2021-...

The cult hit show’s first big-screen foray rarely conjures a cinematic feel, bogged down by dialogue, schlock and flavourless scenes
For those unacquainted with ABC’s hit whodunnit series Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, based on author Kerry Greenwood’s detective novels and set in 1920s Melbourne, each episode begins with somebody carking it.
The show’s three seasons (there’s also a spin-off called Ms Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries) depicts a variety of, shall we say, not ideal ways of exiting the mortal coil – from shootings and stabbings to poisonings, hangings and even beheadings. The fashionista-detective Phryne Fisher (Essie Davis) inevitably solves each case and reveals the killer in a succinctly worded monologue towards the end.

Miss Fisher's Modern Murder Mysteries will soon be available to U.S. fans via Acorn TV.
Acorn TV announced at January's Television Critics Association tour that it has exclusive North American rights to both the Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries movie and the Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries spinoff series.
The spinoff show is called Ms Fisher's Modern Murder Mysteries and it follows Phyrne Fisher's niece, Peregrine Fisher (played by Geraldine Hakewill), in the 1960s. When Phryne goes missing and is presumed dead (yikes!), Peregrine inherits her aunt's money and house. In typical Fisher fashion, Peregrine decides to become a detective just like her aunt.

Ms Fisher's Modern Murder Mysteries seems to be following a very similar formula to its predecessor, with Joel Jackson starring as the handsome Detective James Steed. Catherine McClements also stars as Birdie, a friend of...
