Exclusive: 1883‘s Lamonica Garrett and Martin Sensmeier are the latest additions to the cast of the street racing action-thriller Takeover, led by Migos frontman Quavo, from Trioscope and Quality Films. The pair joins an ensemble which also includes Billy Zane and Serayah, as previously announced.
The film, currently in production in Atlanta, will implement Trioscope’s proprietary technology that blends live-action with CG, underscoring the fascination and controversy surrounding the city’s street takeovers — also known as “sideshows.”
Garrett portrays Sheriff ‘Herc’ Hitchens, public enemy #1 in the takeover community. Herc is a sadistic officer, whose life mission is to shut down the illegal racing scene and its major players — especially Guy Miller (Quavo), a recent parolee who’s attempting to rehabilitate his life when circumstances propel him back into Atlanta’s dangerous takeover scene.
Sensmeier plays Hilario, leader of an original takeover crew, The Jackals. Hilario is a silent-yet-predictable man...

Billy Zane knows how to pick a villain. The actor has consistently provoked reactions of seething disgust for decades, ever since he first jumped on the screen in "Back to the Future" as one of Biff's henchmen. Of course, he is best known as the epitome of entitlement and toxicity in James Cameron's epic "Titanic," where he most famously abused the "women and children first" code of conduct by kidnapping a little girl he immediately abandons when she isn't a convenience.
Since then, Zane has played villains in "MacGruber," "Kingdom Hearts," and even in "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" where Zane plays the greatest showman himself, P.T. Barnum. As a reminder, that show was insane, and totally perfect.
Now, Zane has found his latest role, and it sounds like another Zane winner. Variety reports Billy Zane is set to star in the action thriller heist film "Takeover."

Street takeovers are a U.S. phenomenon where motorists arrive at a particular location in a coordinated manner similar to flash mobs, block streets with their vehicles and engage in stunts with their cars. Criminals often use this time to conduct robberies.
Trioscope, the production company behind Netflix’s “The Liberator,” and Quality Films (“Ice Cold”), the filmmaking division of Quality Control Music, are producing.

“Vikings: Valhalla” showrunner and creator Jeb Stuart has fathered four kids, and he’s about to pop out his fifth — in the form of the Netflix sequel series.
“I’m ready to have this baby,” Stuart says. “There’s so much anticipation, especially when you’ve come to really love a project, and love the group of people you work with and they all care about it and have put so much into it. I’m so excited.”
Stuart, whose filmography as a screenwriter includes “Die Hard” and “The Fugitive,” wound up developing the highly anticipated streaming sequel to Michael Hirst’s celebrated historical drama “Vikings” — which takes place a century after its predecessor, and packs in more action and adventure without sparing accuracy — because of another show he made for Netflix.

British born Leo Suter portrays Harald Sigurdsson in Vikings: Valhalla. Sigurdsson, nicknamed Harald Hardrada, lived a bit later than the other characters on this show. He was a renowned warrior in his youth who fought across Europe for different kings and emperors. He then became king of Norway. He is best known in English history as the last great Viking to lead an invasion of England. But he wasn’t successful—he was killed in the Battle of Stamford Bridge in 1066, fighting against the Anglo-Saxon King Harold Godwinson.
Suter, meanwhile, is keeping himself plenty busy. While not striking anyone else with an ax (at least not yet), with season one of Vikings: Valhalla under his belt, he’ll next been seen in the Netflix limited World War II series The Liberator, which begins streaming on November 11. After that, comes the feature film Gateway 6,...

There have been dozens upon dozens of wartime epics committed to the screen, but none look like “The Liberator.” I mean this quite literally: after getting stuck in a lengthy development hell at the History channel once it became clear how expensive it would be to film, “The Liberator” team made a calculated artistic choice to shift from eight live-action episodes to four animated ones that would significantly slash costs and bring a jolt of unique energy to the production. The version of “The Liberator” premiering Nov. 11 on Netflix, produced in conjunction with Trioscope Studios, reveals a striking combination of animation and live-action performance that feels like a graphic novel come to life.

The new Netflix miniseries The Liberator is a World War II story about brave men who bond through that terrifying experience, and who say things like, “Fear is a reaction; courage is a decision.” It is similar, in all ways but two, to dozens and dozens of filmed tales set amid that event, in particular the HBO classic Band of Brothers. But those two ways are fairly interesting, even if The Liberator doesn’t always take full advantage of them.

Netflix has been the home to some truly unique projects, and one of the most interesting looking additions is animated World War II series The Liberator. The show is based on Alex Kershaw’s book The Liberator: One World War II Soldier’s 500-Day Odyssey, and tells the story of Felix Sparks, a soldier from small town Arizona that ends up involved in the liberation of the Dachau concentration camp.
Die Hard and The Fugitive writer Jeb Stuart is the creative mind behind the ambitious small screen effort, which is set to premiere on Veteran’s Day, and the first trailer has now arrived and based on the visuals alone, The Liberator looks to be well worth checking out. The realistic animation brings to mind the rotoscoping techniques used by Richard Linklater in the likes of Waking Life and A Scanner Darkly, but set against the harrowing backdrop of World War II.

November is the last month of the year for sensible viewing, before our TV screens become full-time broadcasters of golden retrievers saving Christmas and Will Ferrell wearing tights. Take the opportunity then, to get some good stuff in before the festivities.
In terms of good stuff, Netflix is offering the second series of the brilliantly wry and surprisingly touching The End of the F***ing World for any UK viewers who didn’t catch it on Channel 4. There’s also the excellent animated feature Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (we loved it. 5 stars.) as well as Boots Riley’s inventive, funny, political satire Sorry to Bother You (we also loved it. 4.5 stars.) On top of that, you can take a nostalgic trip to Capeside with all six seasons of Dawson’s Creek or watch emotionally repressed royals deal with the advent of the 1980s in season four of The Crown.
