Idle Hands (1999)
FAN-tastic comedy-horror (emphasis on the comedy)
Idle Hands was an incredibly funny movie that succeeds in making fun of old slasher movies without actually trying to be a horror film in itself...I think calling it comedy-horror might even be stretching it. This movie is an all-out comedy, with a bit of gore (OK, a LOT of gore) and occasional horror element thrown in there for variety. People who go in expecting a horror film will be disappointed, because I really don't think that was the idea behind Idle Hands. I got what I expected--A silly, hilarious movie with strong performances by Seth Green and Devon Sawa. If you want a serious horror flick, skip Idle Hands. But for a disgusting, fun comedic gore-fest, rent Idle Hands!!!! (And don't forget to watch the burrito scene at least twelve times)
Midnight Tease II (1995)
Surprisingly good eye candy
I watched this movie at about 3 am one night, and perhaps it was just the late hour, but I was pleasantly surprised by this film. Aside from the aesthetically pleasing aspects of the movie (I'll leave that to your imagination), I actually didn't know who the killer was right up until the end. A feat most better movies can't pull off. I recommend renting this on a lonely, late night, if you have nothing better to do. This movie also contained a brilliant cameo by a flawless look-alike of an aged Dave Jourabchi.
Vampires (1998)
Read the Book!
OK, I've read all the bad reviews, and even heard a few good reviews from friends, but I finally got to see this movie for myself...And overall, it's not that great a movie (6/10). If any of you want to see what this movie should have been, read John Steakley's "Vampire$", the book that this movie was supposedly based on. I was really disappointed to see how much they slaughtered the novel to make this movie. But, I have to give credit where credit is due. James Woods made a GREAT Jack Crow, and Carpenter did a masterful job of directing. It's the script that's lacking here.
