Trashy Lady (1985)
'20s porn
This is actually a very well-made period piece, taking place in the prohibition days with a great cast and better-than-average production values.
SPOILERS AHEAD (like it matters in a movie like this):
Gangster Dutch (Harry Reems) has just been dumped by his foul-mouthed dame, Jessie (Cara Lott). When he meets cigarette girl Katherine (Ginger Lynn), he renames her "Kitty", and makes her his broad, much to her delight. The only problem is that Kitty is a lady and Dutch likes his dames trashy. So, he hires potty-mouthed, trashy broad Rita (Amber Lynn) to teach Kitty the ropes. Rita proceeds to teach Kitty how to be trashy with her first lesson being an educational romp with newspaper boy Jimmy (Tom Byron). Kitty begins to really enjoy being trashy and begins being bitchy and spewing obscenities left and right, that are quite hilarious coming from her, but I believe that's the point. There is another subplot involving another gangster, but the high points of this film, besides Ginger Lynn's comedic approach and Amber Lynn's over-the-top cheese, are some memorable sex scenes: The Ginger/Amber/Tom session is quite steamy, as is the Ginger/Bunny Bleu pairing, which is a lot coming from me since Bunny has never buttered my biscuit; so this was a nice surprise. There's also a nice DP performed by Cheri Janvier with Marc Wallice and Francois Papillon in a boxing gym. If you like good classic porn, get this rare gem if you can find it.
Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998)
What a refreshing change...
What a refreshing change from the last four installments! From the suspenseful opening to the great ending, "Halloween H20" follows the first two chapters. This really should have been "Halloween 3". I'm so glad they ignored the other useless sequels and brought back some of the feeling from the first two. Not that the other sequels have no merit; they simply should not have been "Halloween" sequels. Jamie Lee Curtis gives a great performance as a haunted Laurie Strode, who is forced to fight her demons once and for all. There are also some inside jokes throughout the film that only true horror fans will get. Highly recommended after viewing the first two chapters. Also starring Adam Arkin, Josh Hartnett, Michelle Williams, LL Cool J and Janet Leigh.
Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989)
Not what it's cracked up to be...
Don't be fooled by the title. I was disappointed when I first saw this back in '89 and kept waiting and waiting and waiting for Jason to take Manhattan. Anyway, this is the worst of the series (tied with Part 9) after Part 5 of course. Worth a look if you have nothing else to do and you come across it late one night on cable.
Jason Lives: Friday the 13th Part VI (1986)
Back on track...
After an embarassing fifth chapter, I was happy to see the series back on track with this installment. We are now introduced to a stronger; more inhuman Jason, as he is resurrected after being killed in the fourth chapter. There is more humor this time around; including a cameo by Ron Palillo (Horshack from "Welcome Back, Kotter"). Good performances by Thom Mathews and the beautiful Jennifer Cooke. One of the best in the series. Highly recommended.
Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984)
Another one...
Still watchable and entertaining, but starting to get tired. More of Jason slashing campers; only this time, it's supposed to be the last sequel. Hmm...I don't think so. Recommended only if you've seen the first 3.
Friday the 13th Part III (1982)
Three-dimensional Jason!
The last of the scary ones, "Friday the 13th Part 3: 3D" is one of the best in the series. The plot does have some holes in it and sometimes the acting leaves a lot to be desired, but the interesting component of the film is its use of 3-D. Don't let the 3-D aspect fool you into thinking the movie is bad (as in "Jaws 3-D" & "Amityville 3-D"). The film is great; as far as these type of slasher flicks go. Highly recommended.
Project: Ginger (1985)
Love Doll Ginger...
Ginger Lynn stars as a science project blow-up doll, who with the help of some secret lust potion mixed with some ginger (the spice), becomes a living doll. The sex is better than average and the acting is okay. Rick Savage's role as the mad scientist is the funniest performance I've seen in a movie like this in a long time. Also stars Kari Foxx and Jennifer Noxt.
Club Ginger (1986)
Ginger's Fan Club...
The last of the Ginger Lynn Vivid Video under the direction of Bruce Seven. There is even a small tribute to him in the very last shot. Ginger Lynn plays herself in this self-mockery of her fan club. Contestants win encounters with many of Ginger's assistants; and the grand prize winner wins a role with her in a scene from the next movie she's shooting. Lots of great sex scenes; including a hot threeway between Ginger, Sharon Mitchell and Tom Byron. Also starring Bionca, Krista Lane and Patti Petite.
The Ginger Effect (1986)
Psychic Fun...
Ginger Lynn stars as a psychic, whose friends come over for some fun with Ginger's crystal ball. Body possession and sexual encounters soon follow. The acting is pretty bad; especially during the body-possessing scenes. There is also an incredible solo scene involving Terry Lynn and her ejaculate. Something that was rarely shot in those days. Recommended for a few (unintentional) laughs and some good sex. Also starring Kristara Barrington and Cara Lott.
I Dream of Ginger (1985)
BOINK!
Ginger Lynn stars in this sexual comedy about a misfit genie who just likes to have fun. Lisa DeLeeuw stars as the higher-ranked genie who tries to get Ginger in all sorts of trouble. The sex is average in this flick; with the exception of the last scene, as well as an earlier scene involving Christy Canyon, Paul Thomas and a feather with which Ginger has turned herself into. Recommended for some laughs. Also starring Laurie Smith and Bunny Bleu.
Sunset Stripped (2002)
One of Ginger's Greatest!
Ginger Lynn plays Katherine, a down-on-her-luck writer who stumbles into Rocklyn Davis (Jamie Gillis), a retired porn king; after an embarrassing encounter with repo man Tyce Bune. She is invited into Rocklyn's mansion, which he shares with his maid (Sharon Kane), and is offered a job. This has to be the best of her comeback films, with maybe the exception of "New Wave Hookers 6" or "Torn." An incredible dominance scene involving Kane and Lynn is the highlight of this film and has to be seen to be believed. You'll have to see the movie to know who dominates who, but I think you may already know. ;-) Also starring Ashlyn Gere and Randy Spears.
White Lightning (2000)
Dramatic Porn...
"White Lightning" takes place within a 24 hour period in Gabby White's life. It also depicts those 24 hours in different segments using different characters' views of that day. Ginger Lynn stars as Gabby, whose husband (Michael J. Cox) is cheating on her. So, she sets out to find out just what's going on and deals with it accordingly. This is the 2nd in a string of comeback videos starring Ginger Lynn for VCA. I highly recommend this, especially if you like acting with your porn. There are quite a few hot scenes; including a threeway involving Ginger as a cop with two male cops, and there is also a non-sexual reunion with Nina Hartley. Also starring Chloe and Kylie Ireland.
Jason X (2001)
A Nice Change for Jason...
After numerous sequels, it was very refreshing to see the best one since "Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood." "Jason X" takes place in the future with our main man Jason taking out a crew of young students on board a space ship. It doesn't quite have the scares these films once had, although it offers a lot of action and great special effects. Definitely more entertaining than "Halloween: Resurrection." Hopefully, New Line can save what was once a great horror series.
Amityville II: The Possession (1982)
Exploitative
This film, though extremely creepy, is a prequel of sorts to the 1979 hit, "The Amityville Horror." It is loosely based on the 1974 mass murder of the Long Island family who resided in the infamous house. Knowing the true story behind the killings made this movie all the more creepy to sit through. It is, however, highly exploitative and totally absurd during the last act. Maybe one day, a film can capture the true story of this family, without having to resort to such nonsense. This film is indeed a slap in the face to the memory of the DeFeo family. It's a good thing they changed names to either protect the innocent or avoid countless lawsuits. Otherwise, this film is somewhat entertaining if you can separate yourself from the true story.
Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981)
Great Sequel...
This is probably the best sequel to "Friday the 13th." It reveals more to the story of Camp Crystal Lake and introduces us to Jason Voorhees as an adult. Great special effects (for the time) and some scary moments make this a great horror flick. You don't have to be a fan of the series to enjoy it...so enjoy!
The Exorcist (1973)
A Masterpiece in Filmmaking...
"The Exorcist" is absolutely one of the best horror movies ever made. Adapted from the best-selling novel by William Peter Blatty, this film shocked the nation with its religious nature and the constant battle between good and evil and the unknown. With outstanding acting, directing and cinematography, the disturbing images and eerie score in this film will keep you glued to your set until the very end. My score+ 10 out of 10.
The World According to Ginger (1986)
Timeless (so to speak)
Ginger goes through an odyssey of sexual adventures throughout past times in history. The scenes all jump from a time centuries ago to the present, and so on and so on. Ginger is a Salem witch, a Roman goddess, a flapper from the twenties, and even Eve from the Garden of Eden to Francois Papillon's Adam. Attractive cast for the most part, hot sex, and Ginger Lynn. What more could you want? Highly recommended.
Ginger's Sex Asylum (1986)
Wacky Horny Fun!
One of the six best Ginger Lynn Vivid Videos. The other five being "The Ginger Effect", "Project: Ginger", "Gentlemen Prefer Ginger", "The World According to Ginger" and "Blame It on Ginger". In this installment, Ginger is committed into an insane asylum where everyone, including the doctor (Harry Reems) is a pervert. This makes for one hot sex scene after the next, with a lot of humor thrown in. A great video. Highly recommended.
Ginger's Private Party (1985)
Androgynous Ginger
Ginger throws a scavenger hunt party under the disguise of a guy named Starbuck. She also plays "Ginger", though the two characters are never around at the same time. Sound familiar? In the first sex scene, "Starbuck" goes down on Tom Byron in the bathroom, then lets him enter from behind. Tom (thinking he's just had sex with a man) now thinks he's gay, until Marc Wallice instructs him on how to seduce Lacy Luv, and it becomes a great threeway scene. There is also a decent scene between Beverly Bliss & Scott Hampton. The funniest scene is where "Starbuck" reveals he's a woman, just as "Ernestine", the movie's drag queen, reveals he's a man while the crowd "oohs" in awe at these ridiculous revelations. The production values could have been better, and the acting isn't the greatest, but it is still worth a look or two.
Ginger Snaps (1987)
I Snapped Too!
This movie sure is a gyp. The video box cover is very attractive and misleading. Ginger stars in this all right, but she only has two sex scenes in it. One of them is played out on Kim Angeli's TV screen in the movie (and features Ginger with Nikki Knights & Herschel Savage), and the other one (an awful Rick Savage scene with no hardcore action) looks as though it was an outtake of one of her previous videos, shot two years prior to this production. So, maybe Ginger didn't want to do anymore sex scenes during the making of this, I don't know. I do know, however that this was her last Vivid feature and that she had to make it and didn't really want to. In her scenes throughout the movie however, though mostly non-sexual, she looks wonderful. The only highlight I can think of is the scene with Nina Hartley, Scott Irish & Tom Byron, which is pretty hot. Recommended only for the true Ginger Lynn fan or any Nina Hartley fan.
Ginger on the Rocks (1985)
Classic Ginger & Tom
Ginger plays a rich girl who falls for a poor boy (Tom Byron) who her parents disapprove of. The production values here are good, and there are two great scenes worth mentioning here: Ginger with Amber Lynn on the couch, and Tamara Longley's scene with Ron Jeremy & Christy Canyon in the doctor's office. The acting is not the best, though there is a funny scene when Ginger brings her new boyfriend to dinner at her Mom & Dad's where Ginger's mother gags on her drink as a delayed reaction to something "Tommy" has said. Hysterical, and unintentional I'm sure. Not the best of Ginger's Vivid series, but still above-average entertainment.
Ginger (1985)
The First "Vivid Girl" Movie
This is the first in a string of hits starring Vivid Video's very first contract "Vivid Girl" Ginger Lynn. The best scenes of course, feature Ginger herself, most notably in the kitchen scene with Kristara Barrington towards the beginning of the movie, then later when Ginger takes on Greg Derek on the couch. Ginger is in top form, as usual, and her sex scenes are filled with very realistic heat. Look for her first "Vivid" double-penetration scene from David Sanders and Greg Derek. Also, Lisa DeLeeuw as the maid, helps makes this above-average porn flick just that.
Gentlemen Prefer Ginger (1986)
Ginger Juggles Everyone
One of Ginger Lynn's best Vivid features. Ginger has so many boyfriends in this one, it's hard to keep up with the fact that only one of them (Randy West), she's in love with. The sex scenes are very hot, including the Bionca/Stacy Donovan/Erica Boyer threeway oil-down, the Ginger/Peter North outdoor motorcycle scene, and the Ginger/Kevin James hot oil scene. There is even a Jacuzzi scene where Paul Thomas gives Ginger a toe-job. Great cast, Ginger Lynn and hot sex. Highly recommended.
Ginger & Spice (1987)
Everybody Loves Ricebird
Henri Pachard takes over as Ginger's Vivid director following Scotty Fox and the great Bruce Seven. In this installment, Ginger plays a radio sex therapist who offers advice to on-the-air callers. She is also a prostitute by night who calls herself "Ricebird". There are plenty of sex scenes in this feature, including a degradation/humiliation scene where Jamie Gillis breaks into Ginger's house and attacks her in her bathroom. The truth about Ricebird's identity is finally revealed and there is a small orgy at the end that is better than most orgies in this series. My only complaint is the underuse of Nikki Charm in this movie. Recommended viewing.
Blame It on Ginger (1986)
Great Spoof
Ginger Lynn stars in this spoof of "Blame It on Rio", featuring the actors talking directly to the camera, like in the original. There is also some infidelity, which makes for some great sex scenes. The best including: the Krista Lane/Lois Ayres/Tom Byron threeway on the car hood, the girl/girl Ginger/Barbara Dare scene in the bathroom, and the seduction of Ginger by Jamie Gillis. The funniest scene would have to be Barbara Dare and Peter North trying physically impossible sexual positions. I highly recommend this movie. Luckily, it is available on DVD. Unfortunately, most of the other Ginger Lynn Vivid Videos are not. Hopefully, one day they will all be released. The only others available on DVD are "Ginger On the Rocks" and "Club Ginger".
