The Girl in the Spider's Web (2018)
I love Claire Foy but..
I love Claire Foy but..How in the world did the studio not bring back Rooney Mara? I have seen the original trilogy in Swedish and I also saw the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo with Rooney Mara several times. I loved her in this role so what do they do? The bring in Claire Foy. I have have only seen bits and pieces so I am not qualified to give an in depth review but I will say I am disappointed. I will eventually get around to seeing it, but I cannot see how it can hold a candle to Rooney Mara's performance. She was perfect!
Godless (2017)
Loved it!
As a fan of westerns I thought this was very well done. Yes, there are clichés but what modern western or any western doesn't have them? Give it a chance. I think you will not be disappointed. It is a guilty pleasure to binge watch but I pretty much watched all the episodes in two sittings. The scenery and cinematography are breathtaking and the acting is first rate. Using modern technology to tell an ages old story definitely kept me interested. Yet it wasn't overused and never seemed too modern. (The Magnificent Seven remake comes to mind) I don't write many reviews but I thought this one was worth the input. Enjoy!
Employee of the Month (2006)
Right up there with Citizen Kane?
Well, I admit I like Dane Cook and I wanted to see Jessica Simpson and I paid to see this. I wont tell you not to see it. I don't think it was that good or funny and some of the best bits were in the trailer. But you decide. When I see a movie which I consider NOT good: (think Lady in the Water, was that a comedy)? I always compare it the greatest films ever made as in this may be the worst. I found myself laughing in spots where I was the only one laughing so there is no accounting for taste here. Obviously shot in a Costco which I love shopping in. I have seen worse. Seemed a low budget shoot so I imagine it will make money over all. I wont reccomened it but someone may find it funny. Not a great film but not the worst.
Il Natale che quasi non fu (1966)
Christmas isnt coming this year
Santa says... (from the film)"Christmas isn't coming this year". I heard this line over and over in the endless commercials promoting it back when this film was released in the 60s. Of course back then I had to see it and I did in the cinema. Back in the day when going to the movies was an event. Remember no video or dvd back then! I just ordered it on dvd. I am sure I will not be disappointed I don't remember much about it but it should at least be interesting, taking yet another trip down nostalgia lane
They Shoot Movies, Don't They? ...The Making of 'Mirage' (2000)
First it was the Blair Witch Project Now This
A friend of mine recently dismissed They Shoot Movies, Don't They? as a waste of time but I did not get into much of a discussion with him about the film. I did catch it today and the ending disturbed me to the point that I had to do a little research. If it is not real and I suppose it is not, The producers have gone to great lengths to have you believe it is real.
I suppose it is not real but it sure seems believable. I was reminded of the Blair Witch Project when a neighbor of mine mentioned that the family's of the dead were suing the producers. I replied Hello! it isn't real! A lot of people believed and a lot of people got real scared. After viewing the B.W.P. even I was a little scared fake or not. So anyway some guys made a film disturbing yes provoking absolutely. If it were not so you and I would be doing something else.
