Trash Day (2012)
A real transformation!
Interesting shirt fit about a recluse drag queen:.She/He is not very attractive ,but very convincing! Interesting plot, excellent acting! A must see!
Another Harvest Moon (2010)
Great Performances!
I attended a screening of this film today in NYC. Did not know too much about it, but the cast intrigued me. Cybill Shepherd being one of my favorites. Doris Roberts and Anne Meara are also excellent. Piper Laurie gives a great performance as a gal with dementia. The soundtrack music was very good, and the film should be viewed by any adult that is caring for an elderly loved one. I hope this film gets a distributor.Ernest Borgneine gives an Oscar worthy performance, and really commands the screen. Cybill Shepherd looks great and gives a touching performance as the main characters daughter. A must see! The location shots are also beautiful, being filmed in Pennslyvania.
Bigger Than the Sky (2005)
Patty Duke Shines On The Big Screen!
Saw this interesting film the other day and I would recommend it! Interesting story set in Portland Oregon. Any theatre buffs would love it. The only negative comment I have is the darkness of the film! Director,Where are the lights? Patty Duke looks great and plays twins again! Really touching ending! Hope that this film gets national release! The theatre I saw it at did not even have an accompanying poster advertising the film.Sean Astin plays a small part in the film. I was wondering if this was the first time that mother and son had appeared together on screen?Check your local newspaper for this film!If you love the theater you will love "Bigger Than The Sky".
Only in Venice (2001)
Tonya Crowe is magnificant!
The lovely Tonya Crowe wrote this cute story about life in Venice Italy! You might remember the lovely Tonya from the hit series "Knots Landing" A few years ago. Hard to find, but worth the search!Look for Miss Myrtle Wilcox and Miss All Beef Patty in supporting roles!
Aladdin from Manhattan (1936)
Ruthie Does It Again!
Lovely singing star "Ruth Etting" performs many of her classics in this wonderful short film shot in the Big Apple! "Alladin From Manhattan" tells a tale of mystery and suspense! Ruthie wears several lovely gowns ans sings like a bird! Also featured in the film is the lovely starlet Miss Ethel York!
Deadly Weapons (1974)
Chesty is GIFTED AND TALENTED!
What a great film! Chesty Morgan is nt only beautiful but very talented! The VHS tape was not a good transfer of this wonderful film! Very dramatic and well acted! All the performances deserve recognition! A wonderful soundtrack is also featured!
Pajama Party (1964)
Annette Dances Up a Storm!
With David Winters as a choreorgraher, Annette provesshe can really dance! The title song "Pajama Party" done at poolside reminds me of the old Hullabaloo series! Alot of catchy tunes! Candy Johnson is back with her wild go go dancig, and Susan Hart s very sexy! The DVD is crystal clear! The AIP studios must have used first rate film in these movies! A real winner!!!
Deranged (1974)
Typical 70's Horror!!
Cossett Lee steals the film as a hateful and domineering mother that practically castrates her only son! Telling him all women are sluts and whores and that they all have an STD! This was pre Aids! Great make up make this film a must see for Horror fans! The filming reminds me alot of "Last Huse On The Left". Catch it on DVD with a double feature of "Motel Hell".
Tart (2001)
Melanie Giffith turns in another GREAT PERFORMANCE!T
A convincing tale of Upper East Side spoiled brats ! The story of a group or well of East Side teenagers and how dysfunctional their families really are! Some good performances here! Especially Melanie Griffith in a small but convincing role as the "TARTS" mother! Rent this one for a fun evening!
Original Sin (2001)
The Best Film I have Seen This Year!!
Missed this wonderful film in the theatres and rented the DVD, I could not take my eyes off the screen! The beauty of its two stars is overpowering! Angelina is great as the sexy Julia/Bonnie. The locations and photography were also excellent! The ending is a real twist! One of the best overlooked film of the year!
Edge of Seventeen (1998)
BORING!!! Continues the STEREOTYPE!!!
Are all gay men either QUEENISH or PROMISCUIOUS? Another film that makes gay men look as if all they want to do is have sex, get drunk or wear make up! This film has all that crap and more! Shallow performances except for TINA HOLMES(a Meryl Strepp)look a like! Was this film ever in the theatres? I saw i on cable at 2 am and thats where it belongs!!
Out of It (1969)
Lada Edmund Jr. SOOOO Sexy
What a hidden treasure from the 60's! Seeing a young Jon Voight just before Midnight Cowboy, and the ever so lovely Lada Edmund Jr. light up the screen in two great performances! Many guys from that era remember Lada from Hullabaloo! Interesting story and great photography make this film a mustsee! Why Lada did not make more films is mystery!
Crossroads (2002)
A Nice Wholesome Film For A Change!
This film starring Brittany Spears and the extremely beautiful Zoe Saldana is an old fashion story ofteenagers coming of age! It was refreshing not to have to sit through 90 minutes of special effects and see a real story with emotions and values. Friendship. love of parents, and having fun! These things that todays youth are not familiar with! No violence,no horror , and very little sex! Brittany shows promise, but Zoe Saldana is the real star here! I am far from being a teenager bt really enjoyed this film!
Midnight Cowboy (1969)
Sylvia Miles is the BEST!
Want to see NYC and 42nd Street as it used to be? See this film! Wonderful performances by Jon Voight and Dustin Hoffman, but it is Sylvia Miles in her 6 minutes on screen that steals the movie! This small role won Sylvia an Oscar nomination! Brenda Vacarro is also great"Hey Fella You Fell"she utters as she is tripping in LSD! Very 70's!ONE OF THE BEST!!!
Ethel fue una mujer ingenua (1926)
Great silent film!
Long lost and forgotten! I recently saw this at a convention of short films from the 20's! Ethel is fantastic! The actors were absolutley great during that era! The faces! The grins! Unbelievable! A cable station should do a retrospect on these lost gems!
Take a Hard Ride (1975)
Jim Brown Never Looked Better!
Who cares about the plot with Brown and Williamson on screen! These 2 handsome men running around in their tight jeans never looked better! The plot is flimmsy but the photography is great! Catch this one on video or on Black Starz!
The Blair Bitch Project (2000)
Lovely Linda Blair
This short film is great! Linda Blair still lights up the screen! She gives an oscar performance in this gem! Linda and her co stars are fantastic! This should have gotten th Best Picture nod!!! The scenes are well down especially the tin man!
The Possession of Joel Delaney (1972)
Whatever Happened To Lisa Kohane?
This film is very disturbing and hard to watch in many scenes! Shirley McLaine in a stunning red wig gives a great performance as Nora the sister of demented Perry King. Filmed in NYC it shows the city of the 70's! The real star is little Lisa Kohane!
Nancy & Lee in Las Vegas (1975)
Nancy at her best!
Nancy Sinatra looking lovely! Lee Hazelwood and Nancy Sinatra really know how to put on a show! They sing their standard hits and a few more new songs! The las Vegas setting is perfect for this talented dou!
Carbon Copy (1981)
Denzel at his best!
I could watch this film over and over again! The relationship that develops between George Segal and Denzel Washington is wonderful! Susan St James is great as his bigotted wife! The real star of the film is Vicky Dawson! She steals the film as his beautiful daughter Mary Ann! The title song is also real catchy! Great entertainment all around!
I Passed for White (1960)
Caught In The Rhelm Of Confusion....
If "I Passed For White" was released today it would stur up quite a storm! Imagine not knowing what race to identify yourself with? The character of "ETHEL" gives a touching performance as a GAL that just does not know which way to turn! A B movie that few have seen this classic is alot of fun!
Violent Saturday (1955)
Noreen Corcoran looks like a QUEEN!
Noreen Corcoran (Of Bachelor Father fame) gives a dynamite performance in this B Movie from the 50's! You probably saw it a Drive-In Theatre! Her brother and sister also appear in the film! Noreen's stuning beauty arries the film as there is little plot! It is very hard to find on video but what a treasure if you do!
Sweet Charity (1969)
A Touching and Wonderful Love Story!
Everytime I see this film I get choked up at the end! Shirley Mc Laine is perfect as Charity Hope Valentine! You really feel for the character in every scene! Chita Rivera and Paula Kelley shine! The dance numbers are great and the ending is really touching! One of the best musicals of the 70's!
The Swinger (1966)
George Sydney Does It Again!!
Ann-Margret looks lovely in this campy in this musical comedy from the 60's! She opens and closes the fim singing as she did in "Bye Bye Birdie"! Mary La Roach plays her mther again also! Its a real period piece.the clothes and the hairdos are very 60's! If you love Ann- Margret you will love "The Swinger"!
The Diane Linkletter Story (1970)
IN POOR TASTE!
Following the tragic death of Art Linkletters daughter Diane.this sick demented movie was made! I have always loved John Waters films but this one was out of wack! Making fun of a tragedy is not right! No wonder it has disappeared into obscurity!
