Poisoned: The Dirty Truth About Your Food (2023)
Scariest movie I've ever seen
Actually terrifying to realize how dangerous food is and even more terrifying to realize that the people that are responsible for the production and manufacturing of that food literally do not care if you live or die, only that they made money off of you. Definitely a must watch for all Americans. Hopefully the attention from this documentary increase food, safety awareness and drives Congress to be more proactive and make some changes. This documentary was put together very well and I like how they're conducted their own study with the 150 chicken pieces. Very educational and frightening. Definitely recommend for all Americans, as I previously stated.
The Shining (1980)
Hot Garbo
This movie is hot garbo. I can appreciate classic films but this is a joke. Literally the only thing they took from King's book are the characters names and the idea of a bad hotel. LITERALLY NOTHING ELSE IS THE SAME. I understand books are always better but this is a joke: there is no hedge animals, Jack was mad from the start, and Danny's shining is nothing like it is in the book. Also Tony is a little boy in Danny's mouth? Wtf is that? I could go on all day about how bad this is and un similar to the book. Why do the twins have such a role in the movie? They're not a big deal in the book. And why don't we see Jack spending endless hours in the cellar? No backstory to the hotel which the book spendw so much time on. I was really looking forward to watching this classic after reading the book but I've never seen such a horrible film adaptation ever.
Frankenweenie (2012)
New Halloween Favorite
How had I never seen this movie before now? I have a serious appreciation for the art that is stop motion animation. The amount of time, care, and raw creativity that is put into films like this one is mind boggling to me. It surely is not the easiest way to make a movie, but it is done with so much care. I love how they decided to keep the film black and white, pays respect to classic Frankenstein movies but also really shows the detail of the figures and sets used. The story is great, the characters are fun. Plus if you have a dog of your own who you love as much (or more) as Victor loves Sparky, this movie will pull at your heartstrings.
Sleepaway Camp II: Unhappy Campers (1988)
Amazing horror comedy
This Sleepaway Camp isn't like the first one, in that murder mystery style, but this one is a great horror comedy. There are lots of silly scenes and it's just a fun movie all together. But heads up there is a lot of nudity and sex scenes. Bad part, there is some really horrible acting.
Mandy (2018)
Literal garbage
Nothing else to say but this is literal garbage. People rating it higher than a 2 must be from another planet.
As Above, So Below (2014)
Almost gave up on this
Literally nothing happens for the first 40 minutes of this movie. I really did not think I was going to make it through, such a snooze fest. Things finally started to happen and get interesting, glad I stayed, only because of the 30 minutes of actual interesting stuff, but still not a good movie. I would not recommend this. The ending wasn't too great either. Definitely not scary at all.
Pamela Smart: An American Murder Mystery (2018)
Very interesting
Don't understand the negative reviews. The docuseries isn't long, it's interesting and kept my attention. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes true crime.
The Wacky Adventures of Ronald McDonald: Scared Silly (1998)
Staple of my Childhood
The Wacky Adventures of Ronald McDonald movies are a staple of my childhood. It boggles my mind that other people, at least my age, don't know about these! They're so cute, timeless, and awesome collectors pieces. Scared Silly is probably my favorite out of all the McDonald's movies. I was impressed to see that rewatching these as an adult they still hold up with the times. I wish the McDonald's company continued with their amazing merchandise, movies, and characters. The characters themselves are lost to time anymore, so sad. But these movies are so much fun.
Willy's Wonderland (2021)
So much fun!
I never disliked this movie for a second! It was so much fun, silly, and quirky. I love how serious The Janitor is, yet how unserious he is all at the same time! Absolutely amazing movie to watch if you're looking for a fun time. Nick Cage did a great job in this movie. Ignore the bad reviews - some people don't have a fun/silly bone in their body. And don't forget to drink a pop and play some pinball!
The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia (2013)
Snooze fest
This was the second time watching this movie, however it has been a very long time and I don't remember anything from the first time I watched it. I was surprised at how much of a snooze fest this movie was. I was about 45 minutes through the movie and figured I had about 10 more until it was over, boy was I wrong. This movie just drug on and is no competition when it comes to it's fellow ghost related horror films.
It had the potential to be better, the story line was not bad, don't get wrong there. Just very slow and not scary.
Remember Me (2010)
Beautiful Work of Art
This movie is a beautiful work of art. It's lovely, romantic, tragic, and heartbreaking. It invokes so many emotions - a way I haven't felt about a movie in awhile. This movie is so well written, great characters, great script. Absolutely amazing story. Robert Pattinson nailed it, and so did Emilie de Ravin - they had such great chemistry. Bravo.
The Blair Witch Project (1999)
Would give a 0 if I could....
I would give this movie is zero if I could. I'm not really sure how it managed to get the rating that it did and have so many people say that it's one of the scariest movies they've ever seen. Heather is one of the most annoying characters I've ever seen. The movie is so slow, and just down right annoying. I wanted to watch till the end and give it a chance but wow that was horrible. Total waste of time.
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)
Surprisingly Horrible
Holy cow that was horrible and I am a horror movie fan, especially the classics. I was expecting more story, there is essentially non -- there's a cannibalistic family...that's literally the story. They don't explain who Leatherface is, why he wears the "leather-face", why he doesn't talk....And should we talk about how it isn't scary!? Not even a single jump scare, which could have been done so easy. Also what the heck was going on with the grandparents. Were they dead or not? I was super confused there. This is for sure a movie I would never re-watch. If I have to listen to Marilyn Burns scream for one more second I'm going to stick a chainsaw in my own ears. Maybe if she would have shut up and stopped screaming the entire movie 1. she would have gotten away the first time and 2. this movie would have been bearable.
I promise I am usually not this cruel or harsh with my movie reviews but I was highly disappointed with this movie.
3/10 only because I liked watching Leatherface dance with his chainsaw in the middle of the road at the end - made a good meme.
Hillbilly Elegy (2020)
Hits Home
Wow, I don't understand how this movie could have anything lower than a 10. Not a bad thing about this movie, fantastic acting, great soundtrack. Coming from a low income family with an addict for a parent this really hit home. I would for sure say these characters had it much harder than I did growing up, but I could see so much of myself in J.D. and maybe J.D. has even taught me to be a little more forgiving and loving in times when it's hard. This is a beautiful story that reminds us all that while yes, where we come from is important, it is not as important as where you will go. No matter who you are, or where you come from, you can always work hard and make a better life for yourself as long as you're hardworking and you have love and compassion in your heart. Thank you J.D. Vance for sharing your family's story with the world. This was a beautiful movie.
1000-lb Sisters (2020)
Classic TLC
Trash TV but darn is it entertaining. It's TLC what more do you expect? But on a serious note, as sad as it is, this story of two morbidly obese sisters motivates me to eat healthier and stay active.
Cats (2019)
Amazing Adaptation
I don't know why this movie has such a poor rating, perhaps it's because the people that watched it weren't big musical fans or had never seen the original cats. But I personally think that this movie was done way better than the original stage production. The CGI is beautiful. The music is so much more catcher than the original production, the scenes are beautiful, and it has an amazing cast. Biggest thing of all, this is SO much easier to understand. Bravo!
A Christmas Story (1983)
Most overrated movie of my time.
This is hands down the worst Christmas movie ever, possibly the worst movie in general I've ever seen, period. Not funny, at all, not heartwarming at all. If I could give this movie a 0 / 10 I would.
Cats (1998)
Sub-par
Honestly if it wasn't for the beautiful costumes and dancing this would be a total flop. What's the plot? Is there even one? Yeah, they're going to this "jellicle ball", but nothing is explained at all, but I don't think there is anything to explain. As a musical fan, this was sub-par. The dancing however was absolutely beautiful, amazing, and graceful.
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007)
Masterpiece
Wow! I was not expecting this to be a 10/10, but was it ever. Beautiful music, amazing actors, and they killed it (no pun intended). This is a great film for even non-musical lovers.
The Evil Dead (1981)
Impressive Classic
I was impressed for a 1981 horror classic. Honestly the special effects were next level for that year and I did enjoy the movie. A lot of gore however. It is not a movie for someone who doesn't like that type of film. I did not know that going into this, but still a good watch. Very spooky.
The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
Music saved this.
I'm a huge Disney fan, and I am also a Tim Burton fan, but without the great musical score this movie would be garbage. The music made this movie the hit that it is.
The King of Staten Island (2020)
2 hours and 16 minutes of great character development.
I enjoyed this movie, it was one I've been wanting to watch since I saw the trailer. I was not disappointed. There was a great story and great character development which we don't always see these days. Honestly the movie wasn't 100% what I was expecting but I enjoyed it. I wasn't a fan of the ending at all. When the credits started I was like "wait what? It's over?" I wanted more and I didn't think it was a great ending. But overall it was a great movie.
The Ryan White Story (1989)
Lacking
This movie is listed as "heartfelt" and I surely didn't feel that. Sure I sympathize with Ryan White and his family but nothing in this film moved me. Also the acting in this was absolutely horrible. I would not suggest this movie. You could read about Ryan White, his story, and his journey in 5-10 minutes on the internet rather than watch the movie.
I'm Thinking of Ending Things (2020)
Meh
Maybe It's because I'm not big into literature and other expressive art forms of that type, but I was not impressed by this movie the slightest bit. I see it's potential with the story line, however.
So from my understanding, everything was just a hallucination or day dream conjured up by Jake.
Also that interpretive dance scene? What? Why is that even a thing? I would not recommend this movie, unless you're a big fan of poetry and the original literature this is based off of.
Red Dragon (2002)
An absolute masterpiece!
What a great sorry line, what an excellent prequel. It had been many years since I last seen this and I can't believe I forgot how good it was. 10/10 would recommend.
