Sledge Hammer! (1986)
One of the best comedies every! I want it on DVD!
I was around 16 when I first saw this show and thought it was the funniest show that I had ever seen. I had liked Police Squad, but this was much better. It poked fun at everything and everyone. Nothing was sacred! I was so upset when it was taken off of the air. Then a few years later I saw it re-run on KTLA (I think...it was around 1991) on the C-band satellite and stupid me didn't record any episodes. I have been hoping for this to come back on the air in syndication or be offered on DVD or VHS for years. I just don't understand why this show is not on DVD yet. I run in to people all of the time that loved this show and all of them ask if I know if it is coming out on DVD.
I also think a Sledge Hammer movie would be a great idea. Police Squad only lasted 6 episodes, but the movies (Naked Gun) did very well. Sledge lasted 2 seasons (probably would have been a bigger hit if it had not been up against one of the most popular comedies ever...the Cosby Show), so imagine how well a Sledge feature film could do.
Leave It to Beaver (1957)
Entertaining show. Not documentary of the 50s life.
Most reviewers are missing the point. Everyone complains that the show is not realistic. Why does a show have to be realistic? If I want realism, I can watch one of 100s of reality shows on TV now, or I can just watch my friends and family. I have enough of reality in my life, and when I have a rare opportunity in my life to sit down and watch TV, realism isn't the most important thing. (side note: I have a friend that doesn't like Star Trek because he says it isn't realistic....uh...how COULD it be realistic...if it was realistic all they would do is go up and orbit the earth and come back down). I don't watch this show to learn about what family life in the fifties was like. I watch the show to get a laugh and to forget about the problems in my REAL life. I have nothing against more realistic sit-coms, but I am just defending the unrealistic ones. And concerning June's clothes, that may not have been what women in the USA wore around the house in the fifties, but it was what the people from that period wanted to see. BTW, I wasn't born until 1970, so I really can't say what life was like in the fifties, but I don't think it was exactly like the Beaver's life.

Race for Glory (1989)
Not a bad movie.
The person that described this as Rocky on Wheels is pretty accurate. I don't know why anyone would hate this movie so much. No, it is not the Godfather or Star Wars, but the movie is fun to watch if you are a GP fan (even if it is not the most realistic story in the world). It does not bother me that they build a bike in their garage and take it 500cc racing. I know that is impossible, but it is just a movie, it is not a documentary or a biography on a racer. If you like bike racing I say you should definitely see this movie. I give it a 5/10 for non bike racing fans and a 7/10 for bike racing fans.
Pearl Harbor (2001)
Some Good some bad....5/10
Some of the action scenes were well done, but I think the love triangle, the 2 guys fighting all of the Japanese planes, and the lack of what was really happening leading up to the attack is pathetic. If this were a fictitious attack, then this would have been a 7.5/10 movie. But this event deserves more respect than this. The cinematography was pretty good but the "top gun" like feel really destroyed this film. Do filmmakers really think the general public is that simple minded? I have nothing against movies like Armageddon and ID4 but movies like that should not be made about real, infamous events in history. The writers should have watched Saving Private Ryan before they wrote the script.
Event Horizon (1997)
Scary!
One of the most scary movies ever. Don't listen to the bad reviews. Watch it with an open mind. It is not the best movie ever but it is a very good and entertaining movie. I honestly can't remember being this tense while watching a movie.
Left Behind (2000)
Can't anyone be unbiased about this?
Christians give it a 10 and Christian haters give it a 0. Surprise, surprise! Can't we all just get along? Seriously, why can't anyone think any way other than "I'm a Christian and it is about Christ so it gets a 10" or "I don't like Christians so I have to give it a 0"?
The effects aren't great. They are on par with a USA original movie or a lower budget TV movie. But hey, Star Trek (Original) is much better than Next Generation so effects don't really matter unless all you want is eye candy (i.e. people that would never ever read a book). My wife read the books and begged me to watch the movie. I was raised a Christian but I am not really sure what I believe now, and I thought it was an ok movie. At least a 5 or 6. All of you Christians and Christian haters are no different. You are both prejudice against the other group. Grow up! I thought the story was a little better than average (6.5) and the acting & producing was average (4.5). I feel the story is the most important thing so I gave the movie a 6.0.
