Silent Hill 2 (2024)
Already on my 2nd playthrough
I got the deluxe ps5 version and started playing 2 days early. This remake is incredible. It is beautiful, frightening, and emotionally impactful.
Bloober team has completely outdone all the naysayers. This gane is way scarier than the 2001 original and some scenes/segments truly gave my heart some trauma. The attention to detail and synergy of music, dialog, and visuals is simply amazing.
Any SH or survival horror fan should experience this new masterpiece. It believably pulls off the beauty, tragedy, and fever nightmare hellscape that the original strived for.
I can't wait to see all the endings.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods (2023)
Zachary Levi is pretty entertaining
Lots of other reviewers have nailed down the issues with this film. It has too many superficial, cringey, and formulaic dialogues and tropes. However, Zachary Levi clearly had fun playing Shazam AND he is pretty consistently funny and entertaining tonwatch.
Even though, once again, his character neither acts nor speaks like the Billy Battson character, he does do a pretty decent, and hilarious, job of portraying a not yet adult male.
Also, his obsession over Wonder Woman is completely understandable. In fact, it is odd that so many other characters in the film act like he is weird to be so into her. It's also kind of sad that even though Gal Gadot finally shows up at the end, we know she'll not show up in another Wonder Woman movie, which might actually be a blessing considering how horrible WW84 was.
Doom Patrol: Doom Patrol (2022)
Good start for season 4
This episode continues the wild and whacky misadventures of our beloved patrol. There were some really hilarious moments and crazy random stuff as usual that instantly changes the course of events.
My only complaint is that some of the visuals, mainly the butt zombies, looked a little too obviously fake and the fight choreography between Cyborg and them was dull and not very believable or engaging. However, I still enjoyed it and will continue to watch the next episode.
I really like how this show manages to unpredictably shake things up and yet still keep me mostly engaged and entertained. The dialogue and dynamics between the main characters really helps to make this show as good as it is and the actors should all be greatly commended for their performances, especially considering some of the situations they find themselves in and still take things seriously enough.
