Ali (2001)
The Greatest Boxing Movie Since Raging Bull & Rocky! Will Smith Is Unbelievable!
Ali, to portray such a man would have to be one of the hardest tasks in film history and by choosing the composer/acting talents of Will Smith (Who I like, but I thought Laurence Fishburne would've been the choice to make) made me unsure! I was wrong...DEAD WRONG! Will Smith puts in the greatest performance in his career (SO FAR?!) and it shows that his really improved since WILD WILD WEST (The Legend Of Bagger Vance was good, maybe that's how his comeback started)! I still don't know about an Oscar, btu his already been nominated for best actor in a drama with a goldne globe and I hope he wins this! This will declare Will Smith as not only a top composer (UP YOURS EMINEM, I HATE YOU FOREVER...SORRY ABOUT THAT?!) but an actor as well! Though it doesn't exactly display Ali's entire life, it's graphic, well acted and probably Michael Mann's best piece of directorial work. The 2nd best film of the year, behind LORD OF THE RINGS! 9/10
Exit Wounds (2001)
STEVEN SEAGAL'S BEST! NOTE TO RAZZIES HERE AS WELL!
The Razzies should stop picking on bad actors, simply because they were never taught how to act and were suckered (let's say) into the business. They are martial artists, not actors and all action stars can't act (Schwarzenegger, Stallone, Van Damme, Bosworth, Lungdren)! WHATEVER! So this isn't about the movie (IT'S ACTION PACKED, WELL-PACED, HUMOROUS AND STEVEN SEGAL'S BEST AND I GIVE IT AN 8/10)! But leave Martial Artists Who Can't act alone, and as far as I'm concerned the Razzies should only pick on good actors who are expected to act well but act bad instead of bad actors who we all know act bad and do act bad! LEAVE THEM ALONE! We're just in it for the action and possibly a good time.. most likely! OK?
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
WITHOUT A DOUBT, POSITIVELY, ABSOLUTELY, THE GREATEST FANTASY/ADVENTURE EVER MADE & POSSIBLY THE GREATEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME EVER MADE!!
Wonderfully acted, beautiful shot with its deeply graphic scenes (if that is a word) and truly magnificent! Some flaws, but it still doesn't prevent me from not giving it a 10... oh yeah! 10/10 P.S. The ending kind of P!SS#S YOU OFF, BUT IT'S JUST GOING BY THE BOOK! SHOULD CLEAN HOUSE AT ALL AWARDS!
Bar Girls (1994)
GREAT LESBIEN MOVIE!
This movie wasn't about girl on girl action, it really depicted the struggling life within the lesbien world. Their struggle for affection, their struggle to fit in and so on. Should have won some awards! I wish the actresses in this film were given a better push towards a successful acting career, I think some of them may have. 9/10
Cruel Intentions (1999)
Actually, quite clever!
This movie really surprised me and was quite dramatic and clever in the way it twisted around its storyline. You probably have no idea what trash I'm going on about there but Sarah Michelle Gellar's character is quite astounding and devious, Ryan Phillippe's is very broad and Reese Witherspoon is delicate and innocent as the poor girl caught in between of these cruel acts of seductive intentions. Probably an 8.5/10
Spawn (1997)
AN INCREDIBLY AWESOME AND VERY ENTERTAINING MOVIE WITH THE VERY BEST SPECIAL EFFECTS AROUND!
Deserves much better credit and maybe even an Academy Award for special effects! Hell, this deserves to be in the TOP 250! (OK, Maybe but just maybe I went a bit overboard there) but anyway the action sequences are great, the fantasy is fantastic and I just love it! 9/10
Event Horizon (1997)
UNDER-RATED!
Leave this film alone, it's very imaginative and mind-blowing stuff! The performances are brilliant with an awesome storyline and a thrilling ride from start to finish. Sam Neil as a bad guy (SLIGHT SPOILER) is kind of weird but it's all good! I give this about an 8 out of 10!
The Mummy Returns (2001)
IF ANYBODY OUT THERE UNDERRATED THIS FILM OR THINK IT'S POINTLESS OR ANYTHING ALONG THOSE LINES, THINK AGAIN!
I came into this movie expecting something really special, after all it did cost 130 Million dollars to make, it was the sequel to another favorite movie of mine, it was a year in the making, and my all time favorite wrestling legend THE ROCK was gonna play a cameo as the new and awesome "HEEL" THE SCORPION KING, something that was to really start The Most Electrifying Man In Sporting Entertainment's Movie Career (he is currently working on a movie entirely about his character, something that I will see as soon as possible!) It had a great opening with The Scorpion King and his unfortunate defeat in a Seven Year Long Battle, and then making a deal with a vicious Egyptian God! You watch the rest, I think I've told you enough because this a KICK-ASS movie from Start-Finish and was the most exciting movie that I'd ever seen in my entire goddamn life! Brilliant Performances by all, SIDE-SPLITTING Special Effects, Backed up by humour, sensational eye-popping beautiful landscapes and a great storyline! The action-adventure sequences are full throttle/non-stop, the intensity can really get to dangerous high-levels, the legend continues to amaze you and the final battle scene (or scenes because there are several fights going on at one time) are incredible! Even The Scorpion King's (or that vicious Egyptian God's) Army looks awesome as they engage in battle! THEY LOOKED INVINCIBLE AND BALLISTIC! This is somewhere in my top 3 movies, and I'm gonna grab it on video as soon as possible and I'll watch it again and again and again! I know that this isn't the sort of movie that would get into the top 250, but I would really like it to be. And to all those critics who think this movie is pointless, brainless, blah blah blah! Well, you're not exactly right at all because this is a blockbuster, a box-office smash, an AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME movie! 10/10 FROM ME! If there is any chance for this movie to ever get into the top 250 I would really hope that It can/does! In conclusion, THEY ARE ALL CHANTING THE ROCK'S NAME! (The Scorpion King!) ROCKY! ROCKY! ROCKY! ROCKY! ROCKY! ROCKY! ROCKY! ROCKY! ROCKY!
The Jackal (1997)
Under-Rated, Thought-Provoking Thriller that deserves a higher score than all of Adam Sandler's Movies!
Richard Gere puts in a surprisingly good accent but if Americans can't get an accent right, THEY SHOULD USE THEIR OWN! Bruce Willis puts in a first class performance as "THE JACKAL" and Sidney Poitier deserves an Academy Awards for what of such a great actor that he really is! SERIOUSLY UNDER-RATES!
Boogie Nights (1997)
One of many movies that was better than TITANIC, only wasn't given the award for BEST PICTURE simply because it was a porn movie!
IT'S TRUE! IT'S TRUE! Titanic won because of all of the hype, and simply because it was about TITANIC! But this, like many other movies in '97, is a masterpiece that really depicts what the plot is. The rise and fall and rise of the porn industry in the 70s and 80s is shown well and some scenes may be quite disturbing (SUCH AS MARK WAHLBERG'S YOU KNOW WHAT TOWARDS THE MIRROR AT THE END) BUT IT IS ALL FOR THE BEST! Believe me, this should have had a strong chance of taking out best picture!
Absolute Power (1997)
CLINT EASTWOOD - MASTER DIRECTOR!
Clint Eastwood shows some great directorial work in this dramatic thriller, which he completed earlier than scheduled. A must see, but pay attention to the plot because it may become a little bit tricky to understand. However, this movie's excellent!
Little Nicky (2000)
JUST ANOTHER PIECE OF TRAILER PARK TRASH via ADAM SANDLER! ONLY IN AMERICA, BABY!
First of all, the term Trailer Park Trash was made by THE ROCK who you may believe is American because he was born the good ol' US of A..but he is..and I repeat..he is of Samoan-African CANADIAN decent! My other favorite wrestler is Bret "THE HITMAN" Hart WHO IS ALSO CANADIAN! Read my wrestling stuff another time! Anyway, THIS (LIKE ALL ADAM SANDLER MOVIES) HAS ITS MOMENTS BUT LIKE I SAID..IT'S TRAILER PARK TRASH! HE CAN'T ACT FOR GOD SAKES! HE AIN'T FUNNY, HE JUST ACTS STUPID! IF YOU'RE GONNA ACT STUPID THEN HAVE SOME WITTY COMEDY AND USE LOTS OF CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM! AND THAT MY FRIEND IS TRUE! And one more thing, WHY TARANTINO? KEITEL? WITHERSPOON (WHO'S A REAL BABE)? AND DON'T YOU EVER MOCK SCARFACE! THAT MOVIE RULES!
Tango & Cash (1989)
ONE OF SYLVESTER STALLONE/KURT RUSSELL'S BEST! WHAT A TEAM!
Sure, you may think this is another one of those big dumb action movies but this was rather entertaining and quite amusing! Super cops Ray Tango and Gabriel Cash are made to be superstars by the media, but are then set up by the mafia and together they plot to escape from prison, clear their names and stop a powerful crime lord played by Jack Palance. Explosions, humor and so on, this is one of the greatest action movies I have ever seen and Teri Hatcher is at her hottest in this! In conclusion, this was "FAST AND FURIOUS!" I loved it!
Planet of the Apes (2001)
CANNOT WAIT FOR THE SEQUEL! TIM BURTON BETTER MAKE A SEQUEL! AND MORE SEQUELS!
This dramatic, dark, deceptive and very entertaining tale of action, fantasy, black humor, romance, and drama was brilliant! Great make up work was put into this movie, some brilliant performances by humans and apes and I've never seen the original but I'm convinced that this one is much better! I better not give you the ending, BUT I CAN TELL YOU RIGHT NOW THAT TIM BURTON BETTER MAKE A SEQUEL OR 2 OR 3....! WHATEVER!
Desperate Measures (1998)
Very Entertaining, Michael Keaton puts in his greatest performance (AS PETER McCABE - PSYCHOPATHIC KILLER {IN THIS MOVIE KNOWN AS DESPERATE MEASURES}) since BATMAN!
IT'S TRUE! Michael Keaton was brilliant, and so was Andy Garcia who pursued and tried to protect him at the same time. This movie was kept real and was extremely intense all the way, but was in some ways predictable and in other ways not so predictable! One of the greatest, most dramatic and thoughtful Action movies ever made and it deserved better recognition from critics and the box-office!
Swordfish (2001)
What's the password?
The password is swordfish, one of the greatest, most intense, unthinkable and amazingly sensational action films ever made. It has everything you want in a movie, a cool "bad guy", a cool "good guy", drama, humor, violence, awesome stunts, special effects (this film is from the director of THE MATRIX) and of course SEX/NUDITY! Great Stuff! Hugh Jackman is sensational as the desperate hacker, John Travolta puts in his best bad guy performance yet and Halle Berry is the hottest AFRO-AMERICAN babe ever! This is one to watch, and also watch for a few relatives of Travolta in the hostage situation. 10/10 - 100% WHATEVER! GET IT ON VHS/DVD!
Burnside (2000)
Great, and Gritty series that really puts the punch back into police-dramas!
Burnside is a great action-drama with punch, and "The Bills" Christopher (Chris) Ellison puts into a brilliant performance as Frank Burnside.
This man is looking for revenge against an infamous media personality who killed his partner and great friend years earlier, and like a desperado he would do anything to achieve his objective!
This series is a classic, and should be enjoyed and looked upon as one of the great modern-day series from Britain for many years to come!
Oklahoma! (1999)
I never thought that I'd be saying this, but I quite enjoyed this adaption of OKLAHOMA!
OKLAHOMA! I was never, ever keen on musicals (unless they contain real grit like The Blues Brothers, Blues Brothers 2000, or Grease), but Hugh Jackman is brilliant, along with the rest of the cast! Great Viewing for Rodgers and Hammerstein' fans, and very enjoyable!
Batman & Robin (1997)
JESUS CHRIST PEOPLE! IT REALLY, REALLY, REALLY WASN'T THAT BAD AT ALL! C'MON! GIVE THIS MOVIE A BREAK! PLEASE? IT WAS NOT THAT BAD AT ALL! IT'S NOT EVEN IN THE BOTTOM 100! NOWHERE NEAR THE BOTTOM 100! HAVE I
Well, I think I have summed pretty much everything up in my so called ONE LINE SUMMARY! So there you go, Batman and Robin wasn't really very good but it wasn't really very bad at all! I one word! AVERAGE!
The Mummy Returns (2001)
IF ANYBODY OUT THERE UNDERRATED THIS FILM OR THINK IT'S POINTLESS OR ANYTHING ALONG THOSE LINES, THINK AGAIN!
I came into this movie expecting something really special, after all it did cost 130 Million dollars to make, it was the sequel to another favorite movie of mine, it was a year in the making, and my all time favorite wrestling legend THE ROCK was gonna play a cameo as the new and awesome "HEEL" THE SCORPION KING, something that was to really start The Most Electrifying Man In Sporting Entertainment's Movie Career (he is currently working on a movie entirely about his character, something that I will see as soon as possible!) If there is any chance for this movie to ever get into the top 250 I would really hope that It can/does! In conclusion, THEY ARE ALL CHANTING THE ROCK'S NAME! (The Scorpion King!) ROCKY! ROCKY! ROCKY! ROCKY! ROCKY! ROCKY! ROCKY! ROCKY! ROCKY!
The Mummy (1999)
THE BEST VERSION OF THE MUMMY EVER!
I went to the Bendigo pictures with my mates one day, and we were planning to see another movie (I can't exactly remember what it was) but there was no room for us! So, we decided to see THE MUMMY, another remake of the 1932 Horror Classic. This one was starring Brendan Fraser who I'd originally seen in George Of The Jungle. After the movie, I thought WOW! WHY ON EARTH DID I NOT SEE THIS MOVIE ADVERTISED SOONER! It was incredible, with it's special effects, humour and sensational storytelling. It's a must see, and the sequel's even better which stars THE ROCK as THE SCORPION! For THE MUMMY, A 9/10 & For THE MUMMY RETURNS, A 10/10! I hope THE ROCK does well in THE MUMMY 3 - THE SCORPION KING! Go Rocky!
The Blues Brothers (1980)
"WE'RE ON A MISSION FROM GOD!"
In my book, this is the greatest musical-comedy ever made and it topples the likes of Grease! Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi put in brilliant performances that are very hilarious at times as Elwood and Jake Blues! The story is about 2 hoodlum brothers who come together after one finally is released from the slammer! In an attempt to redeem themselves for the orphanage they once belonged to, they go on "THEIR MISSION FROM GOD!" in an attempt to reunite their old blues band and go on a fabulous musical journey to make enough money to save their orphanage from closing down! There are terrific musical moments, classic comedy moments, an all-star cast and the memories that make this movie an absolute classic! I'd probably have this at number one on my all time favorite movies list and this really should be in the top 250! (AND SHOULD HAVE A FEW AWARDS, SUCH AS GOLDEN GLOBES OR OSCARS!) 9/10
