The Secret Life of Bees (2008) - It's a winner!
See this movie and you will not be disappointed folks. It's a film that truly deserves an award! I happen to think this has to be one of the BEST films of this type that has reached the theaters in a long, long time! Superior acting here by all the characters played and especially by Queen Latifah and that young star named Dakota Fanning. Dakota displays one of her very best performances in this film. Queen Latifah shows us all that she can become a very serious and impressive actress when her role calls for a more talented Latifah. This story line that takes place in South Carolina, 1964, during the peak of racism and the birth of the Civil rights movement demanded this serious side of Queen Latifah along with the other character roles in this film. I found this a most entertaining film and truly a very touching story. As with any film that is written and directed with such quality and expertise (like this movie so obviously is) there is always a sincere need for genuine talented acting. Acting to be at it's best in order to present the story line as it is truly meant to be. This film certainly has it all.. great acting and a captivating story to be told. Each character role played and so convincingly right before our eyes! There is a new tale to be told with each character played in this film, making this interesting from start to finish. Finally, here's a very powerful story told on the big screen that is well worth our time and money. I hope this one wins your heart, like it did mine. Oscar material for sure!
Bug (2006)
"BUG" - Different & dark, but still see this film...
Wow...is the first word I want to mumble! Talk about a different movie, this was what they tried to do here with this film "BUG" and with great success this was indeed accomplished. You never really know for certain in this movie, if this man was really a schizophrenic or was all he claimed real? He makes far-out claims to his only friend in the world, who happens to be a screwed up drunkard and junkie woman (that soon ends up being also a girlfriend) to this guy. He insists that he has been a victim of top secret experiments! Nothing less than a human guinea pig and example of a secret military government experiment. He says, he has been deliberately infected and implanted with the eggs of a supposedly high tech bug. Which is now out of control, taking over his body and living on his blood supply. The government supposedly did this to him as a top secret experiment on him and one other person? We never do really hear the truth or do we? But the case is, we even might believe that this man is (perhaps) instead very insane and schizophrenic and imagining this entire thing???? See it, if you dare. I can promise you this is a very strange film, but at the same time a very strong film and very well directed. You may never know the real truth? I can say, this man is insane and this woman also very insane! But before this film is finally at its end, you will be wondering too, just which story is indeed the true story? Remember we see mostly what they (think) they see or do we? This is a dark film and as it progresses it becomes even darker and it continues to do so up until its twisted end. The directer and the writer both did a great job creating this story line and making it work on film. As dark as this movie might be, it is still done without loosing our attention to its storyline and the presentation of the convincing talents of these actors. I think the intention is obvious here with this film, they wanted a strange and different tale to tell and they did a wonderful job doing just this. "BUG" the movie is filled with total paranoid ideas and plots all against this one man (or perhaps is it against the entire world?) Who knows or who can really say? Go see this one and be your own judge and jury! I have to say, this isn't the best film I have seen, but I am glad I went to see this one to be honest, just because I am the type of person that really likes movies that deliver some good challenges. The directer for this film deserves an applause.

Fracture (2007)
The movie "Fracture" (2007) is worth seeing!
"Fracture" (2007) Anthony Hopkins is showing off his true natural born acting ability again in this film. Just as he always manages to do in every movie released with him as a star. this man is an absolute talent in anything he doses! The story line is interesting and this film is good. I have seen Mr. Hopkins in better roles with much better story lines, but this one is still well worth seeing. I did enjoy this film and I will go on to suggest that everyone that likes a good thriller with Mr.Hopkins as a star, to go see this movie. I give this one a strong #7, see it and you be your own judge.

Perfect Stranger (2007)
"Perfect Stanger" was SO disappointing!
"Perfect Stranger" (2007) This was a slow movie in many parts and it seemed to just go on & on at times. It has a running time of 109 min. but it seemed longer. The acting was fine as could be expected by these top named stars. Excepting for Bruce Willis, he seemed to be dragging through this film on the most part. He was very unconvincing and a bit animated in his role for this character. There is a story here that is interesting to hear and see on the big screen, but without some of the screw ups. At this story's end it was obvious the writer felt a need or for some reason had the wild hair idea to force to (sudden) spotlight style of a surprise ending in an attempt to shock us all! However, only managed to mess this up badly. I have to give this one a rating of a weak "FORCED" #4. See it and you will understand why I had to force this one to a disappointing #4.

Vacancy (2007)
"Vacancy" - a thriller worth seeing!
"Vacancy" - (2007) I was honestly impressed with the entire making of this thriller/horror film. It had the interesting touch of that great director Hitchcock. With this style and a really classy introduction and music score, I found my attention magnified to the big screen with curiosity. I thought the storyline was very well written and directed throughout this film. I will have to admit that this one does keep us all interested and has continuous action from the start to the finish. This is one of the better stories of this kind that I have seen in a long time. I will give this movie a strong #7 for the on going fast action and the well written and directed story. I do want everyone to see this one if at all possible. This is entertainment and finally well done...so enjoy this film folks!

Dead Silence (2007) - This is worth seeing!
Dead Silence (2007) This is a good movie for one of this type & it's a scary movie! It will keep your heart racing most of the time throughout this entire film. If you like to be frightened, then see this one for sure. The story line is definitely, strange, eerie and supernatural. I enjoyed this film, because I do like a good scary movie now and then. The acting in this one is good and the special effects are convincing enough. I will go as far as to say, this film is one of the better ones, than we have had in a long while. Go out to see this movie folks and enjoy all those sudden shocks found throughout this film. It's frightening & yes, even bloody and if this is what you enjoy...go for this one! ~Angel-X~

"The Number 23" (2007) - It's a winner for Jim Carrey!
"The Number 23"(2007) I liked this move very much. I found this to be a great thriller story with all its twist and turns. I must admit this one kept me interested until its very end. I must say Jim Carrey did a skillful job in this film. He came across the screen with this character role at times with very high marks, as far as I am concerned. This man does have great acting talent and it goes far beyond his usual comedy roles. He manages here to convince the audience and myself that he can act out with complete excellence, when he is asked to do so. Jim Carrey gave this role he played in this film all he had and it was a very impressive performance indeed. He does need the credit that is due for his efforts in this movie. This film has the story and has the acting to earn a strong #8 in my personal opinion. I would truly enjoy seeing this side of Jim Carrey more often. If you do see this movie you just might agree. So it's time for a big "thanks Jim" that was a great performance my friend!

Norbit (2007)
"Norbit" (2007) - will this be the last of this kind from Eddie?
OK time to remember...this was only a movie with Eddie Murphy playing (once again) more than one character. The expected humor was again found in this film and this also includes Eddie Murphy's expected and unexpected versions of humor. This certainly isn't the first of its kind! We all have our opinions about each one of Eddie Murphy's movies. He has done so many roles with similar characters. It would be really great to see this man move on to role, a new script. Eddie is known to cross the line with his endless humor and we all can only expect this kind of humor from a guy like Eddie! In this movie Eddie trots over that fine line, over & over again. It seems there are many individuals getting a bit upset with Eddie over this film. I just hope he will find new material and do this soon. He is a very funny man by nature and enjoys making others laugh. Now is the right time to move on and get into a brand new role, but still staying his humorous self and still very much Eddie Murphy. Sorry, but this time Eddie has worn out his over worked role as the big Mama. I am giving "Norbit" a weak #3...because it's high time to give up this idea and move on Eddie!

Bridge to Terabithia (2007)
Everyone at any age should see this film!
This is a beloved novel that comes to the big screen and most successfully. The story revolves around a poor young 10 year old boy and his new found friend Leslie. Their friendship grows into a highly respected, totally honest and beautifully innocent childhood friendship. They are faced with the many daily challenges and problems that go along with childhood and life itself. They both agree to find a way to a new and exciting escape place. A place where they can experience more happiness and joy in their boring and some times troubled world. Together they use their creative young minds and soon discover a very special place where there is magic, where make believe becomes a reality. These two youngster find a beautiful new world that is shared by them alone and that is nothing less than a world filled with magic and make believe. This enchanted movie is whimsical at times and always fun and beautiful. It is enjoyable to anyone at any age, that cares to reach out to experience this refreshing film. I will give this film a strong #8 because it is well worth every minute of your time. See it and enjoy!

I must say the acting was very impressive throughout this film. The expected violence and gore was also as expected. This story goes on to tell us about Hannibal as a young child. How he was indeed traumatized as a child living through the terror and horrific events of a child in the middle of a violent war. This story continues into Hannibal's early manhood. The events unfold as he one by one seeks out the men that killed his younger sister, in the most unspeakable way. This movie is a bit too long to tell us a story that could have been maybe a good half hour less. This film is one that has good possibilities of capturing the attention of its audience, if nothing else, due to at least a curiosity level. If you are are a real fan of the Hannibal Lecter character, I would suggest that you see this movie. You could find the added information needed to complete a final personality analysis of this gruesome complexed man. I give this one a strong #6 - mostly since the acting was very well presented.

Yes many things do start to happen that are out of the ordinary and this is when the fantasy starts to happen. It all starts when a man gets a job as a security guard at a beautiful museum. Midnight is the magic bewitching hour for sure in this film folks. This is when everything and anything starts to happen. This movie is full of fantasy and magic. If you are in the mood to see it all happen on film in front of your eyes, here it is! I had fun with this one and you will too. It has so much imagination and the story line is still there to fill in those voids. This is an entertaining and fun filled movie that everyone in the family will find enjoyable. I suggest that the entire family go see this one and please do not think it's only for the kids, because it is for everyone that likes fun and magic. Hey, a security guard never had so much fun! I give this one a strong #6 for all those super special effects!

The Messengers (2007) - It's worth your time and worth seeing!
I did enjoyed this movie. I suggest that those of you that do enjoy a good haunted story line to see it! I found it quickly capturing my complete attention and then I really wanted to stick with this one folks. The acting here was convincing and the story line was interesting enough to keep me wondering, what's next? I thought as far as haunted house stories go, this one was indeed a good one to sit through. I liked the on going story and learning more and more about the family that lived in this house (before)and the truth about what really happened in this house in the past. Hey, this house has one heck of a history and it all has to come out in the open, which it does with this new family that has moved into it. I have to give this one a strong number 7! Its well acted and this story is interesting and quite frightening. All the necessities to complete a successfully entertaining haunted film.

This was indeed a fully entertaining movie from start to finish. It checks out great when it comes to the acting talents of these star characters and this story line. I found that the acting in this film was even a bit superior in meeting the expectations of its role-played characters. I would suggest everyone go see this one and be prepared to witness some well acted touching drama throughout this movie. This one certainly does have its share of humor and then too, it has its serious moment and all scenes are most convincing to us viewers. I give this one a strong 7! Mostly for the acting and talents expressed in this enjoyable film.

Flags of our Fathers is a movie that follows the lives of three surviving men who raised the American flag in 1945 on the highest point atop Mount Suribachi. This movies goes on to tell the whole unfortunate story about how our government got actively involved with these same three men in the attempt to making profits. How our government used these three individuals along with an aggressive media in an effort to enhance public interest in order to sell war bonds to the American public. This story that is realistic in its presentation as a movie is both well told and well acted. I found it to be an interesting story along with an entertaining film.

This was a very entertaining movie from start to the finish. I found it hard not to keep my eyes on the screen at all times. Both our main actors Bale and Jackman fit each of their selected identities for their character roles just perfectly. Both show a wonderful talent in their acting and convincing roles in this most enjoyable movie about two magicians out to destroy one another. This movie does have a few nice surprises as it gets deeper into its story, making this one a movie to see for sure. Michael Caine takes what could have been a forgettable role in this movie and elevates it with his demanding screen presence. He did a great job. Probably the most surprising performance comes from David Bowie, with his unforgettable chance to play this role as master physicist, his performance was superior. This is a movie would indeed suggest everyone to see. Most entertaining!

Well if you are a die hard fan of these Saw movies, you may still like this one? It has lots of blood and gore, torture and killing. However, it is the same thing to the letter, again and again. When will they at least add something new and different to these movies? Like a real story that is truly a frightening story! It's the same story line over again, on & on. Nothing new happens in this one that hasn't happened in the last two movies. Hey, lets get a story going here in these things at least here. We are starved as society to see some creative story telling on the movie screens. It's a hard thing to find these days! We certainly do have enough writers out there, so let's get up off the tush and do the job people! Let's get some good stories out there to go along with all these blood an gore movies,if need be or bring this legacy to an end!

I enjoy a good horror movie myself, but these on going Texas Chainsaw movies are really loosing their shock ability! Sorry, but this last one released was the very worse I have ever witnessed. I had hoped for a fun, scary horror flick just in time for Halloween. Was I so very disappointed with this one! I kept looking at my watch, no really! I can't say there was any shock-fear in this one. The makeup was all right on our big star here again this time around, but oh please the acting was so bad. So far I have to say, the very first one was indeed the best of these. Can't we start having some fun to watch real scary horror movies again? Where are all these writers with those frightening imaginations and creative minds anyway.

I must give this movie a strong rating of 5!
The acting was most impressive by everyone. Damon did an exceptionally wonderful job with his character in this movie.
Nicholson was his same rare self and played it well. As could only be expected by a man with senior experience and talent.
However, anything beyond the talented acting in this movie is not at all impressive. The storyline was a bit on the weak side. The added humor placed within this movie did add to its finished result, but these were on the most part quite slim and far few to say the least.
The movie seemed to go on way too long for the story at hand. It reached a point where I was saying when will this end?
I must give this movie a rating of a strong 5 only with the consideration the acting was indeed well expressed.
