Vamp (1986)
Grace Jones is known for her aggressiveness
Grace Jones has been making herself known throughout the 80's. She is known as a singer, lover of Dolph Lundgren, and other venues. She's in the movie "Vamp" when she plays a beastial vampire. It starts out with two fraternity pledges who want to provide entertainment for the fraternity. They go out of town, and they encounter an entertainer who only performs at night. And they encounter more creatures of the night and one of the college pledges runs into an old friend who has trouble remembering.
This movie has a lot of humor in it. Grace Jones displayed her aggressiveness in the film. More comedic than horror, but it's a worthwhile film.

Massacre at Central High (1976)
Too stupid to say thanks!
Being a new kid at school is not a walk in the park. But not tolerating bullying is always going to happen. So when he sees the school body, he gets a conscience of what they do around. When discipline is twisted into bullying, one can take no more. When the bullies are dispatched one by one, there's going to be peace in the high school. However, the bullying has progressed. The bullied became the new bullies. Like the others, they are dispatched as well.
No one can save everybody. The bullying victims were just too stupid to say thanks to the person who took out the tormentors. It was fun, I am anti-bullying. But I wouldn't go that far.

Orphan: First Kill (2022)
Making Norman Bates look normal
I saw the first "Orphan" movie, and I thought it was messed up. But "Orphan: First Kill"? Now I know this is MESSED UP! Back in Estonia, there's a woman named Leena(Isabelle Fuhrman) who is a 30 year old who has a condition in which makes her look like a 10 year old girl. She's young, but she is dangerous. She killed people. Then she goes to America to be with a family as a missing girl named "Esther". Her talents are music and art. When she arrives in America, she tries to get back into the family's life as much as possible. But when the son discovered who she really is, chaos ensures. After watching it, I know that this Esther makes Norman Bates, look like a normal citizen. This is a must see. If you dare.

The Gorilla (1939)
They're not The 3 Stooges!
I am afficionado of classic comedy. There's a group that I never heard of before. The Ritz Brothers. They play 3 dopey detectives who investigate a character named The Gorilla. Unknown to anyone, there's a real Gorilla loose inside the mansion. And the other detective who is investigating the same situation as the bumbling trio. Since everyone is looking through places in the mansion, they see that everyone is a suspect. So who's the real culprit?
Along with the Ritz Brothers, there's horror legend Bella Lugosi who plays the butler. This is a classic one should look. Comedy legends like the Ritz Brothers should be taken a look at.

Gorilla at Large (1954)
A mini King Kong
Everyone remembers King Kong. This movie is like it, only smaller. It takes place at a carnival, where all the fun is there. Especially when the gorilla is named Goliath. He expressed his strength and prowess. But there's a dark side in the carnival. Murder and blackmail. A terminated worker gets killed at the gorilla cage. When it escaped, a lawman gets his neck broken.
With all the people getting hurt or killed, no wonder why so many quit the carnival life.
With a cast like Anne Bancroft(before "The Graduate"), Raymond Burr(before "Perry Mason"), Lee Marvin, and a few other big names. This movie is great. And Goliath is considered a mini King Kong in the film.
It's something to go ape here!

Impulse (1974)
Part 2 of Kirk's darkside!
Who remembers the Star Trek episode when the transporter malfunctioned, and another Captain Kirk appeared? Well, in this movie, it's all about it. Only this time, he's traumatized by an act of defense trying to protect his mother from an abusive boyfriend. He stabbed him to death with a sword. Years later, he strangled his mother. He spends time in jail. Meets a karate expert. Then he later killed him. His character is a killer conman. Finds a lonely, wealthy woman, kills her, then find another one.
Only this time, she has a daughter who really dislike him. So she goes all the way to stop him by any means.
It's very silly, and William Shatner play it well. A rainy day romp.

Godzilla, King of the Monsters! (1956)
A big start for Raymond Burr
Before his iconic role as "Perry Mason" , Raymond Burr plays "Godzilla" victim, Steve Martin, a reporter who visited Japan to see the destruction caused by Godzilla. He was treated by Emiko, and sees the chaos caused by the gigantic creature. This movie is nothing more than a commentary version of the first film. Since the first film is all Japanese, this one is not dubbed by any means. Raymond Burr 's character experience the story, and send it back to the States. Some things have been added to for the American audience to understand. And the movie is fun throughout. Just like the first one, this has Raymond Burr.

Gojira (1954)
Classic monster film
In Tokyo, Japan, there a threat that makes the news there. New York has King Kong. The Land of the Rising Sun has Godzilla. He like the Tyrannasaurus Rex who spews radiation. Unlucky victims fall from the fiery breath of this monster. It's a juggernaut of destruction, a colossal terror, a fiend from the orient. It leaves a wake in its path.
One human has something to stop it. But he is seclusive. Has a honor of a samurai. Wouldn't give out secret weapon.
Along with the sacrifice, the safety of Japan is what is important.
A great movie. It can be enjoyed regularly or dubbed. A classic gem!

The Vampire (1957)
Mr. Vampire Hyde!
This isn't England. It's the USA. You have a prominent doctor who checked on a friend who suffered a heart problem. He would take the bottle of pills and mixed up with the bottle of migraine pills. So when his daughter grabbed the wrong bottle, he undergo a great change.
He's a Mr. Hyde, with fangs.
He killed a lot of people who he tried to help. The only one who was his colleague, doesn't drink his blood. He has his incinerated.
This vampire is a constant threat, and they stop him like a regular criminal.
I like it very much, instead of Bram Stoker, it was more Robert Louis Stevenson. A rare classic.

Red Dawn (1984)
The art of patriotism
This is the movie that is memorable for years to come. Fighting off enemy forces, stocking up supplies for survival. These youngers are preparing for WWIII. The enemy lands near a school in a Colorado town. A combination of Soviet, Cuba and other countries creating chaos. But they weren't prepared for the "Wolverines" to fight back. They planned their counterattack, they use every means to defend the US.
In the movie, they have Patrick Swayze and C. Thomas Howell who did "The Outsiders" the same year. And his future "Dirty Dancing" co-star, Jennifer Grey.
The movie is great. The plot is great. A must see!

Vedo nudo (1969)
You need x-ray glasses....
Either you want x-ray glasses, or have Superman's x-ray vision. This movie tends to go in the way of hippie era. This movie goes along way with the sexual revolution. Even for the last part, the hapless man who worked with ads always seeing women, NAKED!! Especially when he saw the TV station close the station with a flash.
Before that, there's a legend walking in the hospital raising the blood pressure of the patients.
On the last part, I think that too much sex caused his seeing of nude women pass him by.
It can be enjoyed either censored or uncensored. You can get a good laugh out of it.

Cutting Class (1989)
A hall pass to doom!
During that time, I was a sophomore. I always get to class. I will never play hooky. In this movie, playing hooky doesn't have its perks. In "Cutting Class", it shows. You have a bad boy(Brad Pitt), a disturbed classmate, a bookworm, and other high school characters who are typical in every way. The bad boy blows his scholarship, his friends he associate with would later end up being killed by an unknown person. The girl's father who is a lawyer, gets shot with an arrow during a hunting trip, but lives to another day.
The movie is funny and scary at the same time.
Before "Scream", and after "Student Bodies", this movie goes in-between.

My Bloody Valentine (1981)
Valentine's Day is a killer
For these miners, they want to have fun, they want to have love. But someone wants to spoil the fun. It all started when a mining accident caused a person to go mad, and the result is fatal. People are getting killed in "My Bloody Valentine" and this joker is about to make it extinct.
It all started through a routine inspection in the mine. And a woman miner with a heart tattoo is the unfortunate victim. Then years later, a new group of people want to carry on the tradition of celebrating Valentine's Day. And people are getting killed by the same maniac. However, when the surviving people escaped, it turns out it's a copycat.
It's like a crossover of Friday the 13th, but without dealing with the undead. A classic film.
5 stars.
Paper Moon (1973)
They make a great team
Ryan O'Neal and Tatum O'Neal make a great father and daughter team in the movie, "Paper Moon". The father and daughter team played a couple of con artists who traveled throughout The Great Depression in Midwest America. Tatum played Addie, an orphan who travels with a conman who sells Bibles for a profit. The orphan is a bigger con artist. She is a big help on making money. In one scene, she was insulted by a barber by her appearance.
I like the scene where she bathes herself with perfume. And the smell is loud enough for Moze to get air.
This movie has a lot of chemistry. Good stars, great plot, great acting, and great repor. I enjoyed it very much.

Bloodbath at the House of Death (1984)
Silly to the end
With a cast like that, it should be a hit. With all the clichés and puns, it's funny throughout. The only star I know is Vincent Price. Everyone else is from Britain. They used scenes from various horror movies. Like "Carrie" and "The Shining". In the beginning of the film, the monks had different weapons to kill the first guests. And the entire town have been in on the whole thing. So when the worshipers got replaced, the clones of the scientists were the new killers.
It was downright silly from the beginning to the end. And I don't care about the other critics, it was funny in its own way.

Windy City (1984)
Last for a lifetime
Growing up with good friends marks a life of memories. You have a writer who has midlife crisis, other friends who are stuck in mundane lives. And the one who has a dream of sailing the sea. When he has become very successful, he gathered all his old friends who want to sail on a boat. In their youth, they were dreamers. The friend who was rich was later diagnosed with leukemia. As his health got worse, his spirits were high. He helped his friend who had a girlfriend who was getting married to someone else. After her marriage, he gets to go out to sea with his dying friend. Years later, the friend dies, and the rest have relocated with their careers. For him, he gets a second chance with the girlfriend from long time ago after her marriage failed.
A very good movie, gives moral support.

The Lost Empire (1984)
A farce among action movies
The only good thing about this movie is that is it's a farce of action movies in the 80's. Full of clichés and puns. The only stars I know well is Robert Tessier, known for his villainous roles, and Angus Scrimm, known for being "The Tall Man" in the "Phantasm" films. For the main stars, they are all hot. They provide the sex appeal and the humor throughout the film. The plot is spot on, the story is good.
So far, it wasn't a drag. There's plenty of action. And a whole lot of humor to boot.
The movie is full of clichés and puns, making it fun. For a rainy day. If anyone wants to put it down, they should be put in this film.

Death Cruise (1974)
What a mystery
An all-star cast in a Aaron Spelling TV film. Still have Kate Jackson from "The Rookies" at the time. In the last TV movie, she was with future "Charlie's Angels" co-star Cheryl Ladd. This time she has Edward Albert playing her husband. Future "Happy Days" star, Tom Bosley is in the movie. The movie starts out with couples getting a all- expense paid cruise. By a non-existent company. The couples are being killed off one by one. And they have one thing in common, life insurance.
It was a good TV film, but sadly it was actor, Richard Long's final appearance since "The Big Valley". The movie launched "The Love Boat", years later.

The Girl Who Came Gift-Wrapped (1974)
Take a chance
When you have it all, you should be happy. However, some people are not when they have it all: a good home, wealth, and happiness. For this guy, he's everything but that. He's a commitment phobe who's near 40. So when he gets a girl who's gift wrapped for his birthday. He's anything but happy. But when time passes on with her at his side, he slowly changed. He has a dog, plants, and he finally rids himself of the maid.
Five years after "The Big Valley", Richard Long has a different character from the show he was on. And Karen Valentine has a heart of gold in this movie. It would be later when "Pretty Woman" would come out to theaters. I liked it very much.

Repo Man (1984)
Learning about the pros and cons of a repo man
You have a punk rocker, Otto(Emilio Estevez) who is down on his luck after losing his job at a supermarket. He finds a job as a repo man after losing his college fund to a televangelist. One car ,a vintage Chevy Malibu has a secret in the trunk. One look and the person who sees it is vaporized. All including a rival repo company are after the car. Many are getting sick from the exposure of radiation.
This movie is a classic. It could use a little bit more work. It's a mix of science fiction, comedy, and action. Since Emilio Estevez is the main star of the movie, it is not bad. It can only be seen on a special day.

Disneyland: Child of Glass (1978)
Heartwarming!
I remember seeing this film one Sunday night, I was only 4. About a middle school kid in Louisiana who uncovered a restless spirit in a house he reside in. The ghost is a spirit of a young girl who was murdered by her uncle. The boy has a friend who has a aunt who takes high interest in him. The ghost gives him a riddle he must solve, and a artifact that is rightfully hers.
It was a scary film, but it has a heartwarming effect throughout. In one part, it should have been called "Dancing with Ghosts". It's because the spirit never gets a chance to dance with someone during the time she was living.

How to Seduce a Woman (1974)
Just for looks
Playing the love field is a dangerous game for most single people. You can easily win or lose in the game. For this guy, he was the best player ever to do this. He meets a lovely woman, he has a way with her. He's a lothario. There are many of them like him. But he's the best around. His friends talk about him when they get together.
While others are nothing but amateurs, he's tops them all. He even seduced the one who was helping him make a book. One of his friends posed as a shrink from Europe.
Being a player is a dangerous thing. You will never find true love in the world. Only heartache.
But this movie is more comedic than dramatic. It's a howl!

The Pursuit of D.B. Cooper (1981)
Who says you can't take it with you?
I don't know what to say about it. This movie is as silly as it can be. They don't say anything about being based on a true story. Or anything else in the matter. But there's a person who is the most wanted for hijacking a plane. The real D. B. Cooper is running around with lots of money, and this guy who is copying the hijacking suspect is running with $200,000, and is being pursued by his old sergeant and veteran turned cop. He gets his wife to come along with the money he has. Though she is doubtful, she is willing to come along.
It's a fun film. Good to watch. A lot of laughs. And a fun ending to boot. Call it the ride of the century.

Vampire Circus (1972)
Headline: It's a fangled event
It's a festival of terror here. A circus is coming to the village. And the terror begins. A vampire count resides in a castle. The people rise up and kills him. After he killed a daughter, the mother who lured her to her is ostracized by the village. But descendants are still terrorized by vampire descendants. They use a mirror to trap and kill. The surviving has fought back.
This movie is one thing I can say. A great English vampire flick that can be called intriguing. With the animals involved, it can bring some memories of the circus. When it's being run by vampires, make sure to bring the anti-vampire weapons. Otherwise, the spectators are in for a feast! 2 out of 5.
All the Kind Strangers (1974)
All in the family of a sort
Everybody wants to travel. There's a saying about don't go picking strangers. It's a sin about being unkind. But in a backwater area, there's no telling. A young kid gets a ride from the highway and is sent back home with orphan siblings. Their parents died off, and the elder son is in charge. They meet the potential people who would qualify for parents. They are either keeping, or letting go. They hide the cars of the rejected potentials. They have big guard dogs to keep the ones from escaping. This movie reminds me of either a Stephen King or Shirley Jackson novel. It's a edge of your seat type of movie.
