Smile 2 (2024)
This Was Awesome
This was another case where the second film is better than the first. The main actress was fantastic and made her role really believable!!.
I wasn't too sure what to expect watching the trailer, how ever there was much more that wasn't shown. The jump scares where really good and the film kept it's flow all the way through!!.
The ending was really clever and can make for a great third movie.
I'm shocked that people are not giving this a great review, but for 2024 this is exactly what you should expect with films like this.
You may end up sleeping with the light on of you are new to horrors.
Back to Black (2024)
Like a bad spoof
I'm actually really shocked by this film. It just felt disrespectful the whole way through like it was a piss take. The actors were talented but the script was the too chiche and try hard.
The story moved forward way too quick to the point they just wanted that film to be about dram only. All the bad stuff you read in the paper years ago basically all in a film with no other meaning for what a talented singer she was.
Lastly, for those hard-core fans of Amy I'd be surprised if they like this at all and how this has a 6.2 rating. (Stick to watching youtube clips)
My rating for this is a 4...
Longlegs (2024)
Really didn't make sense
This film started off well. However, it seemed to take bits from other films and just merged it together. There was no plot, the storyline if you can call it that was awful..
They tried too hard with the weird character that you end up laughing.. the main girl actress, was just odd all the way through, maybe she was remembering her lines throughout it.
There was not enough back story on this, and many scenes just didn't make alot of sense.. If something random did happen, you want to know abit behind it, yet this film was more focussed on the next genre of "horror" they can add in next.
I feel if you are new to horror/thriller you will like it for its weirdness. Other than that, it's crap..
Toy Story 4 (2019)
WE DON'T WANT THAT ENDING!!
I'm actually in shock at the ending. Surely someone who had not grown up with Toy Story choose that ending.
I don't get we had three films, THREE FILMS, where Woody showed loyalty to his group, then in a matter of five mins, he goes of with Bo and all the other toys are happy about it???
I was so close to giving this an 8/10 as the animation was amazing, but my whole enjoyment of this film went to anger in the last 5 mins.
So should there be a Toy Story 5, make it the last one put the toys back together, and to the actors who voice these characters, have some balls to stick up for the fans!
Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget (2023)
I Feel Deflated
One of the best films in animation has a sequel like this?
It felt like watching random children's programme. It also reall highlighted the signs of the time where everthign created now is on safe level without too much or basically an humour due to the delicate ones.
I also couldn't adapt to the new voices either, its like changing buzz or woods voice in To Story, it just does not work.
Overall, I would say pretend this film never happened and just keep re-watching the first one over and over again until this one is completely out of your mind.
It's a 2 star film for me. Please don't make another.
The Deep House (2021)
Wasted Opportunity
The concept of this film sounded really interesting, I haven't come across something like this before an was keen to see how much "horror" they could make from this.
However, the dialogue is absolute crap!! I found myself wanting them to die really quickly just so the story of the house could be revealed lol. But no, you have to put up with the cringy accents and over dramatic yet unrealistic performance.
Overall, If a better director and writer rewrote this film, I think it could have big potential. I would proper recommend giving this a miss, you will just be as frustrated as I was watching this.
You People (2023)
I have never watched something so WOKE
WOW!! Is this really what it's come too?
Big actors are now agreeing to do films like this?? What because they are too scared to do real comedy?. I felt like every time a slight joke or racist joke was made, it had to quickly be backed up with something positive just in case someone gets offended!!
Every nationality has a sense of humour (some people like the woke will have to get used to that and realise the world owes them nothing and to watch something else)
But to see actors like this whose characters were so un-them was really sad. I really hope that some has the balls to bring comedy back!!
I Believe in Santa (2022)
I Feel Mean Saying This But......
Eurghhh, I really tried what with it being Christmas an all. But i just couldn't get over the following:
1) The main woman character (her eyes) constantly with a shocked expression, was really making my own eyes ache
2) The main guy character, playing the "Boyfriend". A "Boyfriend" who is extremely camp and wears far more make-up than his "Girlfriend"
3) The storyline...euggh, it's just a payday film really isn't it. All been done before, very cheesy, yet very odd, mainly because the characters just don't click as a couple "in love"
Overall, I'd give this a miss. Many classics to watch over the Christmas period instead!
Pulp Fiction (1994)
THE MOST OVERATED FILM ON IMDB
Right, where do I start.
I've heard of this film before throughout the years, but never felt the appeal to watch it (until now). I've merchandise of this film in stores and it's seen as a cult classic and loved by many bla bla.
However, I wasn't expecting much and the only clip I've ever seen of this film was the dancing scene.
This film is terrible! Extremely overrated!! A 8.9 score!!!! WHAT??. I Looked at some reviews and it seems people liked this film due to the dialogue. Even the dialogue is awful!!
Unless I'm missing something, I think this film is the equivalent to a modern day Tik-Tok trend when people just feel MUST like this film.
Manhattan Murder Mystery (1993)
What a HEADACHE!!
Firstly, this film is really poor! I'm normaly a fan of Diane Keaton but her character along with Woody Allen isso chaotic its embarrasing. All they do is talk over each other in an overly dramatic way. It's like there is no script to follow and they are just chatting utter rubbish. How Woody allen is an "actor" I don't know, he didn't even try making his character believable
Overal I would 100% give this a miss, half way through you realise you have been watching utter rubbish and I can assure you, you would not even know what's going on in the film.
Right, now where are the paracetamols lol.
Pepsi, Where's My Jet? (2022)
How to prolong a five minutes conersation
I can imagine someone bringing this story up and it exciting for about 5 minutes, then thats it.
I don't know why Netflix keeps making prolonged documents/series on and fills it with utter rubbish and filler. After half way through the episode, I actually didn't care what happened.
From episode 2 I was kinda commited, but really i wish i just googled it instead.
I feel at max this could have been stretched to about an hour. Many people know this story, and some like myself haven't but became very uninterested very quickly.
2/10 stars from me. Really not worth a watch, just google this instead.
Blockbuster (2022)
What a missed opportunity!!!
Eurrrghh!! So dissapointed. This could have had sooo much potential like Superstore. I have to be honest, I only managed to the end of episode 2, but i'll add my reasons why below.
1) The characters are not likeable and you can really teel they are acting
2) Tries to be like Superstor, but failed
3) Wrong era, should have been late 90's/00's
4) The lead character is a poor choice
5) Was not funny at all and tries too hard
Overall, the trailer looks promising, but near enough straight away I just knew this wasn't going to be any good. I would give this one a miss!!
Rated 2 for the poor effort.
Transition (2018)
I Wonder If....
I Wonder if Netflix actually watches the showings they add to their platform or if it's as long as it's cheap to add who cares?
This film was really bad. The acting was school drama level, the cringy camera angles and the sound quality is really poor (no its not my t.v.).
At some points I tought I was watching some dodgy porn film as the storyline along with the acting , the weird cloudy imagery, the odd piano noise was just laughble. If you can watch closely you can see one of the actors mouthing the other actors line LOL
anyway, I managed 45mins out of 115mins. I Just couldn't take no more!!
I made it through...
Smile (2022)
Now This Is Horror!!
I have just watched this at the cinema, and as a huge fan of horro and thriller films it takes alot now for me to really be "scared" or not to predict what will happen next.
This film was brilliant, I actually felt on edge and the story line is really good, simple yet so much more they can do if they make a sequel.
The jump scares were like you see in Insidious, so if you like that film, you will like this one. Overal i'd give this about an 8-8.5 /10.
For 2022 especially with all the horrors over the years, ignore negative reviews, people just expect too much or ust try to play the brave game!
Purple Hearts (2022)
This song is going to haunt me
Eurrghhhhh!!!! I really wanted to like this movie (not the worst I've watched) But two main issues with this film:
1) The singer/song - does she have a cold or something, becuause she does not pronounce any words, and does this whinny baby cringy voice. I had to fast forward it. And they play the song sooooo much in this film.
2) The dialect - Who talks to each other like this lol.. The are young characters as well and I'm sure they want to make the story believable bla bla, but the script at times was pure cringe.
Overal, I would recommend just so others can feel my pain hearing her sing lol.
The Father (2020)
Wow this was gripping!!
I think Olivia Colman is fast becoming one of my favourite actresses. I just finished watching the The Crown, so I thought i'd give this film ago too.
What amazing acting from both lead actors. The story was really gripping and that fact that this sort of situation happens in real life is such an eye opener.
I think this film will help alot of people and also scare some as in how complex the brain is and how it can completly take over us and and make much an impact on people.
This isn't a 10/10 film for me, however it's done it's thing and told a story. Not sure if i'd watch it again though.. Abit too sad..
Devil in Ohio (2022)
Very Misleading
Well, the film was abit of a scam if I'm honest. (very misleading) I kept with it though until almost the end of episode 4 and just thought what the hell am i watching!! (i should have listened to the reviews i read prior to watching)
I Thought this was meant to be some sort of horror/thriller? However, its a load of crap, the acting gets worse and then next thing your watching two idot's sing "I got you babe" in a bar. Seems like just another payday for a film to release.
Anyway another pile of rubbish produced by NETFLIX that I really wouldn't recommend!! It's starting to become abit of a habbit with them now.
September 2022 Review.
Orphan: First Kill (2022)
Better than the first one
Just watched this at the cinema.
I remember watching the first one in 2009 and it was really unique. For A sequel this was really good.
I can see some people rating this really bad. However, just look at the sequels most films have and how they never actually go anywhwere. This had a ongoing storyline throughout, a great middle twist and it was never boring. I feel it explained the story well and how the first film happened.
Some questionable moments especially with the cop who "they" killed and nothing more from it (including what happened to the finger prints)
However, this is still a unique film 13 years later, I don't get what else people want from this film.
Up in the Air (2009)
How is this rated so high???
I really had to force myself at the beginning to keep watching and not get distracted. What with the high rating I thought well this muct get better.
Middle way through, I kinda get where this may go, then just falls flat. Then towards the last say 15mins, I can't actually explain what I just watched. It's really boring and the story line is just pointless.
I'm guessing this film is rated so high do to die hard George Clooney fans maybe?..
Although George Clooney is a fantastic actor, personally I didn't get anything from this film and wish I stopped watching half way through!
August 2022 review.
The Holiday (2021)
Gets a bit repetitive
It's okay-ish to waste some time. But come to think of it, there is only so many times you can watch Jill Halfpenny walk around in a constant strop. Basically all the film is really!!
Web of Make Believe: Death, Lies and the Internet (2022)
This was incredibly dragged out
I wasn't too sure about this, first and 2nd episodes are alright. Then it became boring and lackluster and really didn't tell a great story!
Not worth a watch in my opinion.
Jackass 4.5 (2022)
This should have been the main film
I watched "forever" at the cinema and although it was alright, something was missing. Now after watching "4.5" I much prefer this one as it's the Jackass we all know.
Meltdown: Three Mile Island (2022)
This felt like...
Remember at school when the teacher would do a science experiment then very quickly its becomes boring and dull and all you hear is noise and can't wait for it to be over.
Up there with the most boring Netflix docs!
Distancia de rescate (2021)
I couldn't wait for this to end!!
This isn't a horror film, however its one of those films the constantly builds up suspense that leads up to nothing, yet you keep watching it just in case it gets better.
Well it doesn't, and I wouldn't recommend this film.
Hard Cell (2022)
I watched to the end, however
It's like The Office meets Summer Heights High meets Orange is the new black. It just didn't work. I find Catherine Tate more cringe than comedy.
Really don't get the 10/10 ratings for this!
