The Last Guest (2017)
The Last Guest Review
For this review I am going to break it down into 5 sections: storyline, originality, characters, immersion, execution.
Storyline:
The storyline for The Last Guest is a wild, emotional rollercoaster like no other. The storyline is very well done and engaging, keeping you on the edge of your seat and taking you through an emotional journey at the same time. I have to say that the storyline is very well executed.
9/10
Originality:
The Last Guest is very original whilst being able to point out the problems of racism and war in society at the same time. There really has never been anything like The Last Guest even attempted before.
9/10
Characters:
The characters in The Last Guest, whilst not having too much development over the course of the film, can be deeply relatable and all move forward the plot well.
8/10
Immersion:
The Last Guest deeply immerses you into its world and you certainly feel like a part of it. All the interactions, all the emotional scenes, all the deeply relatable characters link together to make an immersive experience.
9/10
Execution:
The Last Guest is beautifully executed. All the emotional scenes and tension mix together very well and you can genuinely feel and relate with the characters. It also executes the point of all the war and racism in the world very well aswell.
9/10
Conclusion: The Last Guest is a wonder no one should miss.
Overall Score: 8.8/10 Grade: A-
The Oder (2019)
The Oder Review
For this review I am going to break it down into 5 sections: storyline, originality, characters, immersion, execution.
Storyline:
The storyline for The Oder is a good concept on paper and greatly executed in the first half, but gets pretty boring and filler in the second half. The first half greatly executes the suspense and mystery whilst the second half is a boring and filler collection of scenes with all the suspense and mystery sucked out.
6/10
Originality:
The Oder is a very original concept. It mixes a suspenseful mystery perfectly with its own original ideas. In the first half at least.
9/10
Characters:
The characters are alright at best, and mediocre at worst. They do not really develop throughout the movie but are serviceable enough.
6/10
Immersion:
The movie is immersive in the first half with its suspense and mystery. You can genuinely relate to the characters in the situations. But in the second half, it is nearly the exact opposite of immersive with the filler, boring scenes and all the suspense and mystery sucked out.
6/10
Execution:
The first half is greatly executed with the suspense and mystery but the second half is a dull, boring watch.
6/10
Conclusion: The Oder is mostly 50/50 but there is definitely more good than bad.
Overall Score: 6.6/10 Grade: C
Bubsy 3D (1996)
Bubsy 3D Review
OK this is one of the worst games ever! Let's start off with the graphics. They look like a prototype game and are textureless. They are plain, textureless graphics. The game controls horribly. It uses tank controls. IN A 3D PLATFORMER! The camera is not as bad as people make them out to be but it is still annoying. The bosses are not actually too bad but can be cryptic. EVERYTHING OTHER THAN THE BOSSES SUCKS HOWEVER! At least the platforming can be kind of challenging sometimes.
Dream SMP (2020)
Dream SMP Review
OK for this review I am going to break it down into 5 sections: storyline(s), originality, characters, immersion, execution.
Storyline:
The storylines in the Dream SMP are definitely one of the show's highlights. They are very engaging and always keep you on the edge of your seat. Take the L'manberg storyline for example. Tommy loses the duel with Dream and you are left on the edge of your seat. But at the last minute, Tommy decides to give his discs to Dream so L'manberg can have its independence. Also take the Manberg story as another example. It looks like Wilbur and Tommy will win but at the last minute, Jschlatt and Quackity both combine their votes and win by 1%. Some of the storylines with characters such as Ranboo, the most complex character on the Dream SMP, and Karl are also great. Say what you want about the Eggpire Arc and it being filler, but it is honestly not that bad.
9/10
Originality:
The Dream SMP is definitely very original. I cannot really say I have seen two parties fighting over discs, a drug factory turned into a nation, or an egg take over a server before. The same goes for the Ranboo and partly the Karl storylines. Alongside that, the content packed into most of the storylines is just original overall.
9/10
Characters:
Most of the characters in the Dream SMP are just 7/10s with Technoblade maybe being a 6/10. Characters such as Ranboo, Jschlatt, Karl, and maybe Dream are all examples of great characters. Ranboo is so complex and intriguing that it is just amazing. Jschlatt is very funny and has lots of dark humour. Karl and his stories are very intriguing, and Dream is a clever, serviceable villain.
8/10
Immersion:
The Dream SMP is so immersive for just one reason: you get to see the characters actually fully travel around the expansive world as they travel from location to location. A few other reasons include being able to relate with, and understand the characters and their motive(s). You can sometimes see the characters' reasonings from both sides and there can sometimes be no exactly clear villain.
9/10
Execution:
This is the weakest part in the Dream SMP. The execution can be decent at times but it is reduced to just being okay as a lot of scenes do drag on for longer than they should and some of the time can be wasted with pointless conversations.
6/10
Conclusion:
In conclusion, the Dream SMP is great but definitely needs to work on the execution.
Overall Score: 8.2/10 Grade: B+
