The Fall of the House of Usher (2023)
An oddly engrossing series.
Mike Flanagan is by far one of the most iconic horror directors. Granted, it is not platonically based on the novel by Edgar Allan Poe but it has the series has its own touch. Every minute of this series worships Poe but rather than directly translating the author's tale of a man whose internal rot is symbolized by his crumbling abode, the director (M. Flanagan) uses the short story as what could almost be described as the wraparound segment in an anthology, with each chapter tackling another one of Poe's fables while mummified in the wrappings of 'The Fall of the House of Usher.' What comes out of that mummification is some of Flanagan's sharpest work. The scenes are extremely gory, and the performances are impeccable.
Trinkets (2019)
Light but deeply engaging.
The series is alike any other teen series, it covers important sides of life especially for teenagers going through hardships or being unable to fit right in anywhere. While the overall concept of the show is basic (angsty teens with nothing in common realize they have everything in common), the idea of focusing on a different common denominator such as kleptomania does capture attention right away. Relationships are at the heart of this show. From romantic to familial, there is a taste of the nowadays' many types of relationships. Furthermore, it is refreshing that the girl's friendship takes precedence. Every other relationship in their lives hinges on the bonds they build with each other. A a nice change of pace it is.
Oppenheimer (2023)
Magnificent biopic
Honestly, I had my doubts when I first heard that director Christopher Nolan was planning to make a film about J. Robert Oppenheimer, the physicist who led the research effort to develop the first atomic bomb as part of the Manhattan Project. This is one of the most well-documented periods of 20th-century American history, after all, and there have already been so many books, films, and TV series about the race for the bomb, of varying quality. But as soon you indulge in the movie, you realize that it worth the risk.
Oppenheimer is one of those shoot-for-the-moon projects that feels thrilling and wonky, brilliant and overstuffed, too much and yet not enough. As usual, Nolan's dedication and vision gave us yet another masterpiece.
Barbie (2023)
Up to the expectations
From where to even begin? The movie is absolutely immaculate. The acting is beyond reasonable. I would say that perhaps this Greta's most loved film but that would be an extreme allegation considering the public opinion. The movie roars out of the gate with an inventiveness and energy which perhaps the audience was not all set for. The film spreads its politics explicitly, using rudimentary ideas about the performance of gender, gender inequality and consumerism to fuel the plot and inform its comic beats. You would even forget that the movie is actually, and in essence, about a doll because the plot is quite indulging. What i admired most is Helen Mirren performing the narration, not to forget that the casting was also impressive.
John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023)
Majestic plot.
I would say that this last sequel of this franchise is probably the most epic. The plot is quite catching and the acting is beyond believable. It catches you from the very beginning to the last minute. I would not spoil any event for people who are willing to watch but the ending is what had me shocked. Yet this ending is what made the movie complete. The ending tells so much about life. How one could possibly have nothing to fight for but still would fight to reaming alive, and how one who has something to live for could also go beyond the expected to keep it ( Caine's and his daughter). To show how one would go to the farthest place to save his/her kid's life.
The Outfit (2022)
Iconic setting for an handy craftsman
This film ('The Outfit'), is shot entirely in a residence, or what you might call a large shop. Seriously complex, but a done a beautiful throughout, it will keep you guessing, and in total suspense, and still have you head scratching right up to the end. I adore Mark Rylance performance, he is one of the great Shakespearean actors of our time. His face is all you need to enjoy this small film. The movie has a realistic plot without the big names and overindulgence of plot twists that make you roll your eyes one too many times and that is enough said to the bad reviews i have seen about the movie. It is obviously not for everyone who wtaches any sort of cinematic production.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2022)
Appealing to the eyes
I have been waiting for this sequel for a while now and it did not disappoint me at all. This movie was amazing. It was best during the final acts of the film, the first ones were quite fine but somehow unwell. The interaction between sonic, knuckles, tails, and eggman is amazing. Knuckles and eggman were fun to watch on screen. Sonic and tom also had a good relationship that showed something in a way of a father and son. Tails was also a really good addition although it would be have been better if he came more often on the screen. Still, the movie is worth spending two hours on. In addition to that it had some fantastic visual effects which is something to be thanked in the recent movies.
The Gray Man (2022)
Great example of an action movie
Perfect cast along with very interesting plot. The movie has shown a moral perspective even if you are a contractual killer and there is always an honourable code even in dirty business. It is all about movement and thrill, no time to rest which makes far from anything like boredom. I had a good time watching it and i genuinely enjoyed this two hours. Aside from what most people said about how Anthony and Joe Russo have done something very poor, i recommend that you watch it yourself and judge it personally because tastes vary from one to another. Another thing is that Chris did far too good job portraying the bad guy in here,i was truly shocked of how he could shift despite his history of being only the good guy; remarkable.
The Batman (2022)
Batman at its best
This movie brings back the real and realistic perspective of how batman is really portrayed. The casting is wonderfully selected along with the suspense of the film. Paul Dano and Robert Pattinson did amazing as Dano really killed the horror aspect of the Riddler. The movie was a lot more realistic which is why I found it more intriguing to watch without any sort of boredom or tiredness. The penguin did not get enough screen time but even so he did draw a fine picture of being the side villain. I could not stop replaying the scene when James and The Batman were asking him about " El rata Alada" given how perfectly nice it was shot. A true masterpiece.
Yumieui Sepodeul (2021)
A treat for the eye
I have watched many series and movies that reflect emotions and how they operate one's life but this one has done perfectly. What i like most about it is the realistic perspective of how imperfect and Insecure humams are. I would not miss it. Nonetheless, what is still bothering me is how they both were a perfect match for each other but they did let simple and trivial things to come between them. Perhaps breakup was inevitable but it is was unnecessary at some point. Still, this is what differentiatee it from the common romantic dramas. The music as a side note is very admirable. It surely emotions moving to say the least.
Wish Dragon (2021)
A nice treat
The movie is perfect. It is quite funny and it does point out so many value about life in general. It teaches you how to remain hopeful and not care much about the materialistic side of people rather than their moral side.
The Sea Beast (2022)
A pleasure to the eye
A nice, light movie. If you want to ligten your mood a little and have an enjoyable time, you should definitely watch this. The humour in it is very addressed and it also has a valuable lesson. You will find yourself at peace once you finish it.
Gentleman Jack (2019)
Exquisite pleasure for the eye and soul
Well, I cannot just express how this series is quite beautiful. I have just finished watching season two and it was padded with events amd emotions on another hand. The relationship between Anne and Anne is far what i can describe as ideally realistic. The disputes and the confusions and bewilderment draw a fine picture of how relationships, especially the relationships regarded as peculiar according to certain norms, are conducted or seen. I would be very much fond with another yet season.
Itaewon Keullasseu (2020)
Wholesome,
A really inspirational series to how a person should stick to his or her values and principles and never gets down due to life strikes and burdens. A motivational potion towards success in a shape of series. Organised development of events and a very neat cast i must say.
The Sandman (2022)
A show that takes Netflix to the horizon.
Apart from the CGI which was mind blowing, the cast is far more interesting. The selection was based on a detail which sets a chemistry and a perfection in the performance. Only two episodes that had me captivated and dazzled. I can say it with a high pitch, netflix has done it again.
Under the Banner of Heaven (2022)
Magnificent performance.
With Andrew in the series, an artistic touch was added. The roles were played very excellently and even exceptionally. It is not simple to take a role , especially a religious one that requires much authenticity and effort to move the audience into a simulation of reality, but they did manage to represent how people of false revelation tended to falsify what they have been receiving in order to suit their whims. Just fantastic, everything and all.
I Care a Lot (2020)
What a twisting film
Best of what has Pike made in her career per my opinion. A movie where nothing can be expected. Though some may say that what she has been doing she and her girlfriend was a bit immoral but what i can say objectively is that it was clever to say the least. Either way , you will not regret watching this thrilling film but do not get too worked out for because the ending is a bit frustrating but satisfying to a given audience.
Mayor of Kingstown (2021)
Such an epic show
The best of what i have seen of Jeremy's works so far after Wind River. This show has its own dim atmosphere with intense events. No shred of boredom will enter while watching this series. The events are organised and well set in a really heated environment. Just mind-blowing.
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (2022)
Quick review of Fantastic Beasts : the Secrets of Dumbledore
The movie is good generally but it lacks details since it is the third sequel i frankly expected much more thrill and enthusiasm yet there was hardly movement but it does give a warm feeling based on the amount of intense emotions between some characters. Overall, the movie is watchable.
Angmapansa (2021)
Quick review on this masterpiece
This series is mixture between intensity and drama, it really may take someone out of the routine to a whole severe realm of emotions. It is an embodiment of how true justice is and how there is no justice without consequences. The protagonists are quite well chosen, they really had their role perfectly to demonstrate the events. The plot is also breathtaking with mind-blowing twists.
Byuti Insaideu (2018)
Quick view on The Beauty Inside drama
This drama is pretty cheering for anyone who is feeling down and not being able to express himself. It is full of suprises and the plot also adds this flavour to the events which makes things unpredictable. You will not be bored not even a bit ; the chemistry between the two protagonists is quite uplifting. It surely would make your day.
Turning Red (2022)
Quick review on Turning Red movie
Beautiful movie with a fun plot. A movie that has successfully put light on adulthood and how it shifts and makes people change and also how mothers are the important part in this phase and the way they handle things with their children. Perhaps some people would find this movie a bit too explicit because it shows directly how adulthood turns people inexplicable but it is real that this is how adulthood can be bitter.
