Indubala Bhaater Hotel (2023)
A unique series, filled with deep emotions and nostalgia
Debaloy da is back with his unmatched quality of content. This series is about an entrepreneur lady Indubala, starting her life in Kalapota, Bangladesh then making her own hotel in Chenu Mittir Lane, Kolkata.
This series shows the struggle and ups-and-downs of her life, wide open for the audience to watch.
My ratings are:
1. Story - 8/10
2. Cinematography - 7.5/10
3. Acting and Screenplay - 8/10
4. Character Development - 8.5/10
5. Songs - 9/10(Iman di's voice is just wonderful)
Overall - 7.5/10
P.s. - I gave it 7.5 because I didn't get the same vibe I got in Dracula Sir. Although, thanks to Debaloy da for making this unique series.
Montu Pilot (2019)
Unique Dual-Toned Story
Just finished Season 1. There's a saying that goes like - "Don't judge a book by its cover", in case of Montu Pilot, this goes JUST PERFECTLY. The story consists of the struggle and helplessness of a guy called Montu who's trapped in this place called Nilkuthi. First of all, this isn't for vulgar content. Vulgarity, nudity and strong language act as a wrapper to cover the main story under it. So if you're offended by the outer layer, sorry this isn't for you. Now,
Things I like -
1) Screenplay and Acting(Sourav da and Kanchan Mullick played really well in this series)
2) Songs(Both songs are just awesome, thanks to Ishan da)
Things which are okay -
1) Cinematography(It wasn't up to the notch like "Dracula Sir", but well enough)
Things I don't like -
1) In some cases, use of excessive hate language is noticeable, which is really not needed. This kinda mellows down the whole atmosphere of the story.
Overall Rating - 8/10
Thanks to Debaloy da for making this.
Dracula Sir (2020)
A Masterpiece
I used to watch very few bengali movies but this one changed my perspective. Dracula Sir has a very unique mix of genres. Mainly its a dual story movie, moving parallel with each other. The struggle of Amal in his revolution is perfectly portrayed here. Extremely well done cinematography. Acting of Anirban da is really good and also of Mimi di. Songs are also awesome, filling the atmosphere with Ishan da's rich vocals. But the ending is a little bit twisted. The best scene is probably when the train was passing and Manjari could hear the whistle, across timelines.
For me, this is the best modern movie I've seen in Bengali. Hats off to you Debaloy da.
