Mutant Chronicles (2008)
Waste of time
When i first saw the trailer on TV, i decided this film was a film to watch for me. Sadly i had been mistaken. The film starts out in a WW2- esquire battlefield (with tones of Mysticism to do with the so called "machine" you'll hear about non-stop till the end of the film.) The storyline in itself, is that a machine has been placed underground away from the surface so as to keep it from turning people into mutants, but the storyline manages to keep you anything but interested, with the constant reminder of "the machine" and "the enemy of man" in nearly every other sentence. The movie really hits home in the way of annoyance when we meet the 'main' characters in the film, the so called hero's that are going to save mankind.
The script and conversation between the characters becomes very sub-par and almost forced, making no sense as to why this conversation is taking place. Also as you'd expect the characters are killed off 1 by 1, in equally ridiculous and forced confrontations (the usual stuff, self sacrifice and in battle with the enemy.) The ending isn't a surprise either...
Also, in our day and age you'd expect 'most' CGI to be no less than spectacular. This film manages to not pull it off though, each item lays it onto the scenery as though nothing had been done to blend it in with its environment, quite amateur stuff to say the least. The colour tone is similar to 300 (more grayscale tho) to highlight the blood in the film. Unfortunately the graphics guy seems to have used MS Paint to place the blood onto anyone wounded.
Unless you are ABSOLUTELY desperate to watch this film, i'd save your money, the film in a nutshell is boring and displeasing to watch. Its 100+ minutes of generic B-Movie garbage, thats only saving grace is the credits.
