Journey Back to Christmas (2016)
Standard Fare
Tonight I was reading a book while my wife watched this movie on Hallmark. I finally put down the book and finished watching this movie. This movie is pretty standard fare for a Hallmark Channel Christmas movie. Here is the plot. Candace Bure plays a nurse in a small town in 1945. One snowy night she gets her car stuck in the snow and takes shelter in a nearby shed. Then, somehow, during the night she is transported to the year 2016. The first thing they do, after she is discovered, is to take her for medical help. Here is where the movie makes the first big mistake. She is examined by an African American doctor. Back in 1945, Caucasian women were not examined by African Americans. Ms. Bure just sat there like this was a normal everyday activity. In reality, she would have said something right off. The scenes back in 1945 were pretty unrealistic as well. She was shown driving all over town, when there was gas rationing and people only got 4 gallons for a full week. Plus, the automobile she was driving did not have either an A or a B sticker on the windshield. You would have to have been alive during World War II to understand what those stickers were. Aside from several large mistakes like the above, this movie was pretty good for what it was aiming for. I would recommend you give it a viewing.
Matlock: The Lemon (1988)
Barney's Back In Town
This episode marks the reunion of Don Knotts and Andy Griffith. Don Knotts plays the next door neighbor to Ben Matlock (Andy Griffith). He is a little obnoxious and pushy, but other than that he is a good man. The plot revolves around the purchase of a used DeLorean by Knotts. Turns out the car is a lemon and Les (Knotts) decides to go back to the dealer and demand his money back. Of course when he arrives at the lot he finds the salesman dead under his own automobile. Les is charges with the crime and Matlock agrees to defend him. What follows is typical of the other Matlock episodes. All in all a pretty good show. Don Knotts would appear in several more shows as Les, and always gave a good performance. It was no accident that Don Knotts won 5 consecutive Emmys, the man was a very good actor. If this episode comes on, give it a watch.
Mi Amigo Hugo (2014)
El Diablo
Another awful piece of crap from the mind of Oliver Stone. A praise ode to one of the worst dictators of all time. Right up there with Mao, Stalin, and the Castro brothers. But then again, Oliver Stone never met a murdering dictator he did not like. It is only the peaceful Americans he hates. This piece of crap is 50 minutes of selected toadies praising El Diablo. I mean, they have to, they live in Venezuela, they have no choice. When, early in the 21st century a petition was circulated and signed demanding the removal of Chavez, Chavez had the names of all the petition signers published in the state run newspapers so everyone would know who to blacklist. All of the signers were barred from any government job. Then there are Chavez's policies. His communist government policies have taken the government of Venezuela to the point it is today. No money, no jobs, no food, babies dying daily. Makes you wonder when Oliver Stone is going to make another film saying he is sorry for this steaming pile of horse manure.
Hillary's America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party (2016)
The Truth
If you have ever wondered what Bill and Hillary, and all Democrats/Liberals really think about minorities, just take a look at this movie. The writer, producer, and narrator of this movie is himself a minority. Just take a look at the comments the liberals make about him while giving the movie one star. The lowest, most vile, form of commentary. The movie itself seeks to open the eyes of the dumbed down voters to the truth about the Democrat Party. For instance, did you know that the Ku Klux Klan was started by the Democrat Party? The Klan has always been run by the Democrat Party. Were you aware that the racist Jim Crow laws from 1870's - 1960's were passed, promulgated, and enforced by members of the Democrat Party? Were you aware that all the African Americans lynched in the deep South were lynched by members of the Democrat Party? Which political party passed the racist laws (such as poll taxes and literacy tests) that were designed to stop African Americans from voting? Right, the Democrat Party. Were you aware that the party which opposed the 1964 Civil Rights Bill was the Democrat Party? Apparently African Americans do not know these facts since they support the Democrat Party by a 4-1 margin. Talk about moronic. Like the chickens voting for Colonel Sanders. This movie will open quite a few eyes by displaying the truth. For the rest of the racist Democrats, nothing will ever change their minds. Do yourself a favor and go see this movie.
Climate Hustle (2017)
Finally The Truth
I caught this movie earlier this week at a screening here in the Midwest, and let me tell you, this is a movie for which the whole world has been waiting. Mr. Morano uses this movie to expose all the lies and cover ups of the far left concerning so called Global Warming. His insightful and truthful telling of the facts lays bare the lies and half truths of the Global Warming crowd. Finally some truth in the debate about Global Warming. Remember 10 years ago when Al Gore said that New York City would be underwater in 10 years? Anyone notice any boats going down Broadway? Well I guess that Al is liar huh? Do yourself a favor and go to this movie to see the truth about no Global Warming. Ten Stars out of Ten!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
God's Not Dead 2 (2016)
Perfect
I did not think it was possible to make a better movie than God's Not Dead, but this sequel does just that. What a wonderful message and what a wonderful bunch of actors. Melissa Joan Hart will be looking at an Oscar for Best Actress for this performance come next March. And the actor who plays the ACLU attorney is spot on. He plays the attorney just like all the ACLU attorneys are; venal, spiteful, ignorant, ambulance chasers. There is nothing about this movie that does not work, great acting, uplifting music, and a great message. I expect this movie to make more than the $100,000,000.00 the first one made. Do yourself and your family a favor and get out today and attend this Oscar worthy movie.
Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 (2015)
Good Clean American Film
This is the kind of film we need more of in America. No profanity, no homos, no murder, no blood, just good clean family friendly fun. I am a big fan of Kevin James and his comedy, and I was not disappointed with this film. Loved every minute of this film. The actual film concerns Paul Blart and his daughter's vacation to Las Vegas. Of course crime and hilarity ensue. You will especially love the scene with the large bird. I found myself laughing out loud at this scene. Kevin James' brother, Gary Valentine, has a wonderful part in this film. I like the way Kevin James looks out for him family. Do yourself and your family a favor and catch this film.
Father Knows Best: Grandpa Jim's Rejuvenation (1954)
Just A Throwaway Episode
This episode of Father Knows Best is not very good. Don't get me wrong, I like the whole concept of Father Knows Best, but there is no way a person could enjoy every episode equally. The episode opens on a typical evening at the Anderson household. Every member of the household has plans. Betty and Bud are attending the wedding of one of Betty's friends. Bud is an usher and Betty is one of the matrons of honor. Kathy is planning her first sleepover at a friends house. That leaves Jim and Margaret to visit with friends where they plan to participate in a game of badminton. Jim regales his whole family with tales of his college athletic achievements. Then a letter arrives from Jim's old college chum telling Jim he is coming for a visit. The letter relates that he is now a grandfather and is afflicted with rheumatism. This changes Jim's whole outlook, and the story proceeds from there. Watch if you have a half hour to kill, but be warned the show is not very good.
Vacation (2015)
The Funniest Movie of 2015
Not too often you see a laugh out loud movie at the old multiplex, but Vacation is surely one of them. It was hard for me to hear the dialogue for the guys behind me laughing so hard. There were just scene after scene of hilarity. Right from the opening credits up until the final credits, nothing but laugh, laugh, laugh. The top laugh getter though I guess would have to be the trip to Hot Springs Arkansas by the family. It will make you and your whole family want to schedule a future bathing adventure in some nearby hot spring. But there was one sour note. The movie is rated "R". There are lots of filthy words, and some naked people in the movie. So do not let your young children see the movie. Other than that the movie is a hoot.
Perry Mason: The Case of the Singing Skirt (1960)
One Of My Favorites
Betty Roberts witnesses an illegal poker game at the Big Barn Casino where her married boyfriend, Manning Ennis loses his entire savings of $60,000. When the owner of the club, George Anclitus, shows up, he confronts the organizer of the crooked game, Slim Marcus. George is mad, but not so mad he does not cash the 60K check. When Manning Ennis' wife, Vivian, attempts to recover the 60K, she is murdered. Who has done this? Lots of suspects, but you will never guess who it is. This is one of my favorite episodes, tight writing, good acting, lots of suspense. Perry, Della, and Paul all do a good job. Perry almost has to take the witness stand. If you get a chance, catch this episode.
Mommie Dearest (1981)
Poor, Poor, Pityful Me
This film is one long tantrum of ingratitude. The writer of the material this film was based on was Christina Crawford, the adopted daughter of Joan Crawford. Yes, the same Christina Crawford who went from being a homeless orphan to living in a million dollar mansion in Brentwood. The Christina Crawford who has a luxurious wardrobe and never has to worry about where her next meal is coming from. So what does she do? She spends the whole movie bitching and moaning about how she had to use wood hangers instead of wire hangers. About having a little discipline imposed on her. Hey Christina, out here in the real world, no one worries about wood hangers, because most of us don't have enough clothes to make any difference. We honestly wish our mother would care enough about us to actually discipline us once in a while. Yeah, Christina, our hearts really bleed for you. Toward the end of the film Christina is bitching once again about her mother taking her place on some soap opera. She never stops to think that she would never have been on the soap opera in the first place unless her mother was Joan Crawford. Grow up Christina. Live in the real world, and count your blessing instead of your very few troubles.
Newhart: In the Beginning (1982)
Off To A Great Beginning
First show in the 9 year run of Bob Newhart's 2nd show. Hard to believe, but this show ran longer than his first show, "The Bob Newhart Show". Pretty standard plot line, the show opens with Dick and Joanna preparing to purchase the Stratford Inn. The Inn is in pretty bad shape, but the Loudons are prepared to put in the time and hard work to get it into shape. Dick and Joanna meet their new neighbors, hire a new maid, and retain the previous handyman. Their next door neighbor is named Kirk Devane, and a little of him goes a long way. The plot of tonight's show is after purchasing the Inn Dick finds out that it was used as a bordello in 1775. Mildy amusing. Dick get a couple of chances to do his telephone shtick, and they were pretty funny. Jack Dodson appears at the beginning as the real estate salesman. All in all a good beginning to 9 wonderful, fun-filled years.
The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet: The Car Mix-Up (1956)
Merry Mix Up
Well it is Saturday in the Nelson household, and Ozzie is painting the kitchen chairs. Rickey barges in and wants to use his own money to buy an old jalopy, but Ozzie says he has to see it first. So Rickey leaves with his brother David to go get the car. Meanwhile Harriet is back from the market with an interesting story that begins this merry mix up. It is truly a shame we no longer have shows like this on television. Good, clean, wholesome, family shows that the whole family can sit down together and watch. Instead, now a days, we have filth like "The Fosters", "Glee", and "Modern Family". Modern family my butt, more like modern perversion. But at least we have YouTube and can still watch wonderful shows like Ozzie and Harriet. Meanwhile the networks are showing filth and wondering where all their viewer have gone.
The Perils of Pauline (1967)
Wonderful, Wonderful, Movie
I had the pleasure of watching this movie one Saturday night at the local Drive-In Theater. (Remember Drive-Ins)? What in the whole world could be better, warm summer night, drive in, showing a wonderful movie? This is not Citizen Kane or Mr. Smith Goes To Washington, it is a fun, fun, movie. How many movies that you saw 45 years ago can you still quote dialogue from? There is a scene in the movie where Terry Thomas tries to impersonate a wealthy man in order to get to Pauline. While sitting, and talking, he states "I am the third richest man in the world". He then proceeds to cross his legs, and clearly visible to the man he is talking to is a hole in the bottom of his shoe. For the last 45 years, every time I, and my friends, see a shoe with a hole in the bottom, we always quip "Must belong to the 3rd richest man in the world". If you love your children, try your best to sit down with them and watch this movie. You will not be disappointed, but your children will have a memory for life.
Snowpiercer (2013)
Dreck
Movies like this are the reason IMDb should have a place for zero stars. This movie is without a doubt one of the worst movies ever made. If killing kids is your idea of entertainment, this movie is for you. Or if you have been waiting for the next great cannibalism movie your wait is over. Not one single coherent idea in the entire movie. Just an attempted affirmation of communism. The producers of this movie should have paid the audience to sit through this crapola. Worse than anything Ed Wood could have ever dreamed up. As for the plot, this is it: people ride round and round on a solar powered train while mayhem occurs. That is the whole movie.
Moms' Night Out (2014)
Greatest Movie Ever Made
Saw this movie this week at the local multiplex. I was one of about 8 men in the crowd of 800. Needless to say, this would probably qualify as a female film. But let me tell you no matter your gender, you will laugh out loud at this hilarious movie. This movie has it all, humor, pathos, sentiment, and religion. In short, this movie has everything that real Americans are demanding in their movies. Each and every one of the actors does a splendid job. Not a glich in the bunch. If you are a tree hugging, bleeding heart loony leftist from one of the coasts, you probably will not like this film. However if you are a Bible believing Real American, this film is for you.
Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues (2013)
Disappointing
Happened to see this movie last night. Although there were several funny moments in this film, I mean with Steve Carell how can there not be funny moments, all in all this film was just mediocre. Will Ferrell's time has past. What used to be funny by him has just became obnoxious. Will Ferrell jumped the shark when he made "You're Welcome America". "You're Welcome America" was mean spirited, snarky, unfunny, uncalled for and generally disgusting. Will Ferrell lost any of his fans who might be Republicans, and for what? A piece of garbage that wasn't even funny. All through this movie I kept picturing Will Ferrell in a Spartan's Cheerleading Uniform. I mean Will Ferrell has not made a good movie since he was Ricky Bobby. Blades of Glory? Land of the Lost? All pieces of crap. I hope Will has enough money to just go away and leave America alone.
You're Welcome America: A Final Night with George W. Bush (2009)
Uncalled For
There was absolutely no need to make this pile of dreck. Yeah, yeah, I get it Ferrell, you do not particularly like George W. Bush. Well guess what dip wad, a majority of Americans elected him President twice, so it is time to just get over it. Fact of the matter is that George W. Bush was a much better President than you are a comedian. As a matter of fact Carrot Top is a better comedian than you are. As for this movie it is the lowest of the low, with uncalled for insults, and at one point racial humor aimed at Condeleezza Rice. Since Will Ferrell has no problem with racist humor, and since Obama is 10 times worse than George W. Bush ever thought about being, I guess in 2016 American can look forward to Will Ferrell appearing on HBO in blackface to skewer Odumba.
Mr. Skitch (1933)
Excellent Early Film
This is an excellent example of the early film making of Will Rogers. Will Rogers was the #1 male box office performer for five consecutive years until his death. All of America loved Will Rogers, and he could not have made a bad movie if he tried. People who complain about the stereotypes in his movies are shortsighted, and have no idea about the times in which he lived. People like that just need to stick to Ingmar Bergman crapola and leave real Americans alone. Will does not have to apologize to any man. All of that being said, this film is packed with humor. Will's family loses their money and tries to make their way to California. Zasu Pitts is especially funny and wonderful in the role of Will's wife. Laughs all along the way. If it ever plays on TV, do yourself a favor and catch it.
The Trials of Cate McCall (2013)
Twilight Zone
First off, a confession. My wife watches a lot of LifeTime TV, and I, naturally, am forced to sit through a lot of it. Tonight I found myself more or less watching this movie, admittedly with one eye. The movie was almost half over before it really got my attention. The parts of the movie outside the courtroom are mostly dross, but what goes on inside the courtroom was interesting. Almost every member of the bar in this movie was committing judicial malpractice. I half expected the state bar association to come on screen at any moment and disbar the whole bunch. Exculpatory evidence was withheld by the prosecutor in the case. As a result, the judge dismissed the case against the defendant, even though the defendant was proved, later, to be guilty. So they put the defendant on trial again. Hello? Anyone ever hear of double jeopardy? Anyone ever hear of Brady v Maryland, where the Supreme Court ruled that prosecution withholding exculpatory evidence is grounds for acquittal? Pretty good movie that holds your attention if you are willing to suspend disbelief.
La vie d'Adèle (2013)
Filth, Filth, Filth
Words cannot even begin to describe how filthy this movie is. As a matter of fact, decent people cannot tell you what is in this film without volmiting. Just be warned that no decent person should go to see this movie. There was a time that a person had to put on a raincoat and dark glasses, travel to the seedy side of town to see filth like this. Now this filth is shown on some mainstream movie theatres. People wonder why America has fallen into such disrespect and shame, and movies like this are the reason. How low can the movie industry actually go? What is next, child porn and snuff films? All right thinking and decent Americans need to stay as far away from this garbage as possible. I think the day is fast approaching when Americans will finally pass a constitutional amendment to stop the production and screening of filth like this. I have recently read that no theatre in Idaho will screen this film. Stand up America, make your voice heard and take back your country. Boycott any establishment that shows this filth.
The Alamo (1960)
Another Great John Wayne Film
It is impossible for John Wayne to make a bad film. This is probably because he loves America so much and all of his films reflect this feeling. No one wants to see liberal crapola about hating America like Michael Moore makes. That being said, this is probably John Wayne's second most patriotic movie, the first being of course, "The Green Berets". This film is a faithful retelling of the siege of the Alamo, where 170 brave Americans held off an invading force of 3000 for 13 days to allow Sam Houston to regroup. I am sure everyone is aware of the narrative of the siege of the Alamo, but it has never been better told than here by John Wayne. God Bless John Wayne, may he rest is peace. There will never be another movie star that shines so brightly.
The Green Berets (1968)
John Wayne's Most Patriotic Film Ever
John Wayne made lots of patriotic films, but this one is #1 on the list. All of America loved John Wayne because John Wayne loved America. As a veteran of the Viet Nam War, March 1971-February 1972, let me tell you this is a realistic portrayal of the events in Viet Nam. All of the brave American soldiers and their South Viet Nam allies were the heroes of that war, and the bleeding heart libs back here at home were the villains. The American soldiers would have won that war if it were not for the weak kneed liberal politicians undercutting them back home. That being said, this is a wonderful movie. Jim Hutton deserved an Oscar for his acting. Of course John Wayne deserved an Oscar every time he was in a film. This movie should be mandatory viewing in every junior high school in America.
God's Not Dead (2014)
Greatest Film Ever
I was one of the millions of people who viewed this film over this past weekend. Despite being shown on only a few screens, this film finished the weekend in 4th place behind blockbusters like "Muppet Movie", "Mr. Peabody and Sherman", "Divergent". It finished with $11K average screen, in 2nd place. The reason for this is that Americans are hungry for an honest film like this. After all the Obama crapola, America wants to get back to religion. People who are intelligent will continue to produce films like this. As far as the body of the film itself, great acting, great directing, overall excellent film. Do yourself, and your family a favor and go see the film. One more small point, this is the only film I have ever seen on IMDb where all the negative reviews are on page 1 or 2. Most of the time you have to go to the back to see the negative reviews, but on this film, every review on page 1 or 2 is one star, "horrible film" or some other ad hominem attack. It is just like the lead character in this film said "It is not enough for atheists to disbelieve, they will not be satisfied until every one else rejects religion as well"
Alone Yet Not Alone (2013)
One Of The Greatest Movies of 2013
This is one of the greatest movies of 2013. I recently had the pleasure of viewing this movie and I cannot tell you how thrilled I was with everything about this movie. The acting was superb, just the right nuance, no over acting or under acting. The script was wonderful and the story was enthralling. I am surprised that this movie only garnered one Academy Award nomination, it deserved so many more. Kelly Greyson should have been nominated for best actress, and Ray Bengston should have been nominated for best director. This movie is so much better, wholesome, and fulfilling that the usual trash that is shown in theatres now-a-days. Do yourself and your family a big favor and catch this movie when it comes to your local theatre.
