Laal Singh Chaddha (2022)
Read the book Forrest Gump
IF you really want to enjoy the story, Read the book Forrest Gump. The book is really amazing. The movie Forrest Gump is ok ok. Lal Singh Chaddha is a cheap copy of the English movie. What I dislike is the story, camera, cinematography all concentrating on the Hero. Gone are the days when movies would run by the Hero. Today, the audience is more educated and intellectual. To keep them tied to the seat one needs a good storyline and not just focus everything on the hero.
Its a cheapshot. I would rather watch a cartoon on TV than this mediocre movie.
Laal Singh Chaddha is a comedy/drama movie directed by Advait Chandan. Screenplay by Eric Roth and Atul Kulkarni. Produced by Aamir Khan Productions. It is a remake of the Forrest Gump which itself is an adaptation of the novel of the same name.
The White Tiger (2021)
Socialist progapanda film. No storyline.
The usual anti-indian Narrative. The producers must understand that the socialist Venezuela cannot even get it's people bread. People have to queue for bread. It's not all bright and sunny in socialism. In China, a parent cannot decide what their child is going to become. The govt decides. Thanks but no thanks. We don't want such propaganda films.
Laxmii (2020)
What else can you expect for a C grade movie director
Well, not sure what I can say about this film. In one place it shows the hero standing against superstition and in the end, he supports superstition. What exactly the director wants to say? probably he had too much hashish. Anyway, the bias in the movie is too stark. All negative characters, situations and events are hindu. And all positive characters, events are shown as Muslim. Disappointed at Akshay who is ready to sell his motherland for a few bucks.
I wont be seeing Akshay movies anymore.
Chhapaak (2020)
Waste of time
I think success has gone to her head. The only positive thing about the movie is that Deepika looks good. Other than that the movie is s waste of time. I don't understand why they did not case the actual girl who was the victim? Give her a chance to grow. What did they get by taking a pretty face?
C/o Kancharapalem (2018)
The movie just blew me away
I had started the movie very casually. I did not even know the name of the movie. But i soon got involved in the storyline. I dont even understand Telegu but was just following the sub-titles.
When the movie ended, I was sitting there with my jaw open. Totally blown away by the sheer beautifulness of the story.
The cast is top class. No need to any songs or any group dances. I highly recommend this movie. Please watch.
Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
If only i were a child, i would enjoy this movie totally!
Whatever the story lacks, Computer CGI compensates.
Filmistaan (2012)
Its a great movie on many levels
After I had seen the trailer, I knew I had to watch this one. I went expecting funny sequences, off-beat story and good acting. Well, I did get just that but so much more.
The film gives a strong and poignant message that deep down inside, all human beings are the same. They have the same fears, aspirations, fun loving characters. It shows how childhood conditioning can influence our thoughts and form preferences about good, bad, right and wrong. And how real life experiences can break those beliefs.
As far as the script goes, it is very basic and straight-forward. Absence of big stars and their trademark acting styles is such a big relief.
About funny sequences, there is one in particular (which I cannot describe in detail) is when the hero gets a chance to act in front of the camera. I am a person who laughs with abandon. I think the people near my seats did not like it very much becoz I was laughing my head off.
I recommend you to watch this movie as I enjoyed it very much. I wish I could forget the whole movie just so that I can watch it again :)
Manoos (1939)
No wonder Charlie Chaplin himself praised this movie
First of all, the movie belongs to a different era altogether. You have to respect that. Since no tools/software/special effects were available in those days, the directors had to rely heavily on the plot, emotions, composition etc. I was amazed at the depth of the topic and how the characters were developed.
The subject matter is so relevant even today and paints a poignant picture of two simple souls falling in love.
The circumstances, events and situations are so unpredictable yet so believable. No show of flesh, fancy clothing or dirty talk is present to make the movie attractive to audience. The director sticks to the subject matter and portrays the people as they would act and react naturally.
Though the film is black and white I was riveted to the screen till the end.
One word: Bravo!
Housefull 2 (2012)
A letter to Sajid Khan (The director)
Sajid Bhai, I was expecting the movie to be bad becoz I had the misfortune of watching one of your earlier movies. But believe me, even going prepared did not help.
I sincerely wish to know. Do you assume your audience to dumb? The comedy is so loud that even if I were 10, I wouldn't laugh at the silly antics. There is not an ounce of intelligence in the entire movie. Even the shaky van scene (copied from, the silent movie) was so badly done. The plot was so lame. The dialogues worn out. The comedy Ultra loud.
The audience today has matured. People like to see films like bheja fry. Here are some suggestions: 1) Hire a genuine writer who can come up with a good story. Half your movie is taken care of. 2) Cut out the loud comedy. Make sure people more than 10 yrs of age can watch. 3) Have someone write intelligent dialogues.
I am not from film industry, but I am sure if I make a movie, it will definitely be better than housefull of crap.
Lastly, I recall, I remember watching you on the telly. You had a good sense of humor. I cannot accept this from you.
That Girl in Yellow Boots (2010)
Shocking tale
I started watching this movie just to pass my time. I hadn't read any review or had any expectations.
The film brings out the true state of the existing conditions in India. Of many of which I myself have seen in real life. Though many people claim that it is not so bad.
The storyline is very genuine and believable and you soon get caught up in the twists.
The main character Ruth is very convincing. It is very difficult to predict what will happen next in the story.
I loved the female who manned the massage desk. Her telephone conversations were so entertaining and true to life.
The ending was totally unexpected. I had tears in my eyes.
Peepli [Live] (2010)
Excellent !
The film is a hard hitting satire about the country, its people and the living conditions. More importantly, it has exposed the Indian psyche. It shows that India is not run by anybody. It runs on its own.
The movie also depicts the news media in its true and natural color. I had personally once noticed that "Knee surgery for the PM" was the headline and "24 farmers commit suicide in a week" was under "News in brief" section. Some news channel report every news item as "Breaking news". Basically, they magnify, marginalize and sometimes distort any news depending upon who controls them. Everyone has vested interests.
All news channels have just one objective. Drive up their rankings. To do that, they will go to any extent.
The movie also depicts politicians in their true color. It is a known fact that they will do anything to win the elections. Well, you cant expect anything else from them because 99% of them are high class thugs.
The movie is not meant for the average Indian who expects the formula (1 hero + 1 heroine + villains + 4 love songs + i item girl song + 4 fight scenes) I loved the language used in the film. It is the way a farmer would speak. No fancy monologues (usually referred to as dialogues). There are a few bad words and I wonder what the impact will be if those are removed.
I strongly recommend this movie because the situations are quite funny and at times you will laugh like crazy.
So go ahead and enjoy!
Kadachit (2007)
Very moving. This film will leave a pain in your heart
Its a very simple story. No complications. That is why it is so powerful and effective.
It is about guilt, punishment, love, hatred, compassion, forgiveness. It relates the tale of an unfortunate family where the daughter is brought up in a foster home even though her father is alive.
You will love this film! Performances are credible. Situations genuine. Direction flawless. The result is a narrative which will leave an ache in your heart for a long time.
Of course, it is not flamboyant. It does not contain songs. Or dances. There is no need for those. It is very different from commercial cinema.
Braveheart (1995)
Outstanding movie
I went to see this movie without any expectations. I just didn't know I was watching a movie, I got so involved into it that I did not know when it ended.
I always liked Mel Gibson for his looks and acting skills. He has proved that he is an outstanding director! The storyline was good. Many argue about the historical correctness. But I disregard it. Come on, he wasn't making a documentary. Cinematography was top-notch. The battles were stunning. Never was I so on the edge of my seat. I don't know from where he got the methods of warfare but they seem so genuine. The fight scenes are so convincing.
If you haven't seen this movie, please do it.
