Another terrible Australian attempt at a comedy
6 September 2010
You and your stupid mate is another in a long line of Australian comedy flops. It shamelessly rips off dumb and dumber with its two main characters, Jeffery (Angus Sampson) and Phillip (Nathan Philips). While the afore mentioned title was somewhat mildly amusing this effort should never have even been made. Our two hero's both clients of Centre Link, embark on a ridiculous quest to save their favorite soapy,Sons & Surf after learning that it is soon to be axed.Thats pretty much it plot wise. The two leads have very little chemistry and meander through this awful film encountering just as lame characters as themselves with the exception of "Evo" one of the soaps stars, his short montage featuring him dealing with the public saying his characters catch phrase back to him "Whats going on here" is about as funny as this film gets.Other than that its basically just the odd dick joke, moronic laughter and a story line thinner than a french crepe.

A dark story of a Melbourne underworld crime family
2 August 2010
.Animal kingdom is a bleak tale set in the Melbourne underworld. It centers around the Cody family, very loosely based on the Petingal crime family and the Walsh st police killings of the late 80s.However this is not a period piece and is set in modern day Melbourne.the story revolves around J who has just lost his mother to a heroin overdose. He is then taken in by his grandmother "smurf"(jackie weaver)she is the matriarch of an extended family of criminal sons.Andrew (pope) Cody is the oldest and leads the gang with his mate played by Joel Edgerton. Also in the gang is Chris (a psychotic drug addict) and Darren (a slightly more gentle) yes man Both are sons of smurf and brothers of the loathsome pope. When Joel Edgerton's character is blown way in a premeditated hit by police in a suburban car park pope and the gang seek revenge by luring two unsuspecting policeman to their deaths shooting them in cold blood. Guy Pearce is the investigative officer and soon tracks down J and tries to get information on the massacre.Unsure if they can trust their newest recruit pope and smurf decide it is probably best if J just went away(permanently).Fearing for his life and his new girlfriend J decides his only option is to co-operate with the police.
