Bougainvillea (2024)
Didn't quite hit the note expected!
I watched the movie on its release day, and the first half was absolutely gripping. It's a slow-burner, but if you're invested, you'll feel the anticipation and excitement building as the story unfolds. The film keeps you on the edge of your seat, with a narrative path reminiscent of movies like The Sixth Sense or The Prestige-constantly surprising you with twists you can't predict.
However, the second half didn't quite live up to the expectations set by the first. The suspense, while intriguing, missed the mark it was aiming for. Still, it's a great watch overall. The cinematography, background score, music, and acting are all top-notch. I just wish the second half had delivered more impact. Nevertheless, it's definitely a must-see.
Kishkindha Kaandam (2024)
Brilliant movie but the core of the idea is from Memento
Kishkindha Kaandam" is a brilliant movie and an absolute must-watch. It stands out as one of the best films in Malayalam cinema, showcasing exceptional storytelling and filmmaking prowess. While the core idea is inspired by Christopher Nolan's "Memento," the movie charts its own unique course, diverging into a narrative that is both original and captivating. The director masterfully weaves a complex plot that keeps you engaged from start to finish, blending elements of suspense, drama, and emotion seamlessly. The performances are top-notch, with each actor bringing depth and authenticity to their characters. The cinematography is exceptional, capturing the essence of the story with stunning visuals, and the music perfectly complements the mood of the film.
Pranaya Vilasam (2023)
Wow, how did this go unrecognised.! An Unmissable Cinematic Masterpiece: More Than Just a Movie
What a class act. The core storyline is a fresh new perspective, something that I've not seen before in any other movie. Let's start with its core. At the heart of this film lies a narrative that is daringly original and invigoratingly refreshing. So, if you think you've seen it all, think again. This is not just another movie; it is a ground-breaking odyssey that dares to tread where others haven't. Every twist and turn in the storyline is a masterstroke of creativity, challenging conventional wisdom and presenting viewers with a fresh perspective that will remain etched in their minds long after the credits roll. There are moments that defy expectations, scenes that will make your heart race, and revelations that will leave you gasping for breath.
But what truly sets this film apart from the myriad others is the evident passion and meticulous craftsmanship behind it. Every detail, no matter how minute, has been painstakingly curated. It's apparent in the evocative score that accentuates the narrative's highs and lows, the impeccable cinematography that captures every emotion with unerring precision, and the nuanced performances that breathe life into the characters, making them resonate deeply with audiences.
Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea (2021)
COPY PASTE OF THE 2004 MOVIE TROY!! Priyadarshan, you truly are outdated!!
First half is over! You could tell how it's going n where it's going and I'm pretty sure it's not going to get any better. Priyadarshan, please retire, you are outdated and you are a guy who still feel that this melodrama, using the same old cheesy fights and war scenes will sell in the 21st century. Please take a look at movies like Troy, which I felt closely aligns to this movie and what it could have been so far. This movie had a lot of resources at its disposal, but the implementation was s***, thanks to Priyadarshans outdated storyline, direction and war tactics. They could have made this a lot better. I'm pretty sure, the real person "Marakkar" would have had better strategies for beating the Portugese, than this S***. There's nothing out of the box or something tat makes you feel, wow!! They clearly haven't done their research on how war movies can be implemented effectively!!
"Enthino vendi thilakkunna sambar"
What a waste of money and resource. This movie lacks research and brilliance. What it needed was a better story and a brilliant director!! It had all the other elements.
PS: I'm not a Mohanlal fan nor a mamootty fan but a movie buff.! This movie had the resource and capabilities to be a masterclass. DISAPPOINTED!!!!
Second half: After the first half, during the intermission, I posted my review above and I was referring to the old Classic Troy there. That Priyadarshan should have watched Troy. My O my, I was surprised to know that he did watch it and he literally copy pasted scenes from the 2004 movie Troy.! The scene Hector was killed, dialogue to dialogue, BGM and even the scene when Hector's dad pleads to Achilles, to get Hector's body back, they copy pasted it!! Fireballs from Troy was replaced with Spike balls, Achilles was replaced with Marakkar, Hellen was replaced with Aarcha!!
All that resource at their disposal, n all they could do was copy paste a 2004 classic?! And did they really expected us mallu audience to not pick this out???
Please do us a favour everyone and watch the 2004 Brad Pitt movie Troy. (It's my favourite of all time)
I'm also not part of any campaign to demote this movie! Just stating facts and my honest review. I honestly wished this had been better! But thanks to Priyadarshan's outdated brains, my day n time had been spoilt.!!
Bhramam (2021)
If you had watched Andhadhun this becomes pointless.
I don't understand the point of a scene to scene remake.! N if anybody could have done better with this role it would have been Fahaad Fazil. He would have added a new dimension to this whole movie.! This was a role not really suited to Prithvi.
Aanum Pennum (2021)
I'll leave my honest Review. Loved it
I don't know what all the hate is about, but I thoroughly enjoyed it, n I'm being honest without any preconceived notions. Loved the first and third story, second one was kinda a beautiful story, but couldn't take the overacting Parvathi as rachiyamma, kinda spoiled the whole thing. May be manjuvarrier would have been the perfect fit. It had to be, subtle acting, parvathy tried to overact n spoiled the character. Though, all 3 endings lacked a punch, still a thorough entertainer.
Joji (2021)
Ridiculously dark and Well made.
This was an outright ridiculously good movie. The storyline is the backbone, such a short and simple script yet sooooo sooo powerful. The casting, shoot and everything about this was outright perfection. It reminded me of an old Hollywood movie (Misery), this was a movie that made me feel the same. This movie had every element in it. N brilliantly executed by all the actors involved. Amazing. One of the classiest movies malayalam industry has brought out.!
Forensic (2020)
Absolute joke of a movie.
A school kids body was found in a school bus, the driver was charged immediately? had it been in some panchayath road, the panchayath member would have been arrested.
CCTV in a forest? lol.
A police mom loses her kid, and she just assumed her dead and no investigation?
The omini van kept purely for chasing the villian, that too with the freaking key on the ignition.! LOOL
Rithika Xavier? even after divorce the women kept her ex's name along with her?.
A kid who killed his dad, studied and became a psychologist? And this family seems to be disconnected from outside world? coz nobosy seem to have cared about a missing person.
The Most Interesting Person in the Room by Kenny Sebastian (2020)
Was waiting for it! But disappointed.
Disappointing to say the least. I was waiting for this after seeing the trailer but disappointed. Kenny, I am a fan of you, but your materials are not good enough. Chappals n birds, too random of a subject n doesn't have any relevance. Trying to force the issue for the sake of it. This show wasn't natural at all.
