Foxcatcher (2014)
Don't watch the documentary before this!
I found the documentary to be amazing so when I saw the film I was a little disappointed because it wasn't as in depth as the doc. The actors however did an amazing job, Steve carell was great as John. He made you feel uncomfortable and awkward. As I watched the documentary I thought Johns eagerness for friends and to belong reminded me of someone. I finally realized it was Michael scott from the office. So learning carell would play John was thrilling. Overall it's a good film, maybe I would've enjoyed it more had I seen it before the doc.
Class Action Park (2020)
Loved it!!!
I grew up in nyc watching the commercials for action park. I never got a chance a go, which was probably a good thing lol As an adult I read about all the horror stories that occurred in action park. I was fascinated by some of the rides and how poorly thought out they were. Watching this documentary gave me so much more information!!! For one the guy behind it was an awful person but when you hear the accounts of those who went and worked there you get a real feel for what is was to go to action park. You hear about the good the bad and the ugly. If you ever heard of action park watch it, if you're morbid and like to know about crazy things watch it lol this documentary isn't for everyone but I loved it!!!!
Clickbait (2021)
Go watch it already!
What a great show from start to finish. The twists and turns are always so unpredictable, just when you think you've got it they throw you off. Kept me on edge the whole time. Loved it!
The House That Jack Built (2018)
Work of art
How can one film be so disturbing and hilarious at the same time. Artistically sick.
Lorena (2019)
She changed history
Beautifully made. A revolutionary story that every woman must see. She's a hero.
Flandersui gae (2000)
Dark humor at its best
Dark humor at its best. I loved it. I love dogs and some parts were shocking but with great over the edge comedy. Definitely enjoyable.
Queen & Slim (2019)
Powerful
This movie is powerful, poetic and deep. It's a depiction of our reality today with the injustices of poc. It grips you tightly and as a person of color you're able to feel the fear and loss of direction. Their strength is felt throughout the entire film. In a situation like this what can you do? You've been proven guilty before committing a crime, you're color was the determining factor. This film is great for anyone to see but it hits a little closer if you're a poc. Must watch.
Kristy (2014)
Surprisingly really good
I was already skeptical because of the bad ratings, But what a pleasant surprise. I thought it was really good and original. The suspense was great. Overall very enjoyable.
The Reef (2010)
Loved it
I love survivalist films and this one was great. I'd say it's better than open water. Making that decision is scary enough but the journey they went through was even scarier.
The Boat (2018)
Really enjoyable
I love survivalist films and this one was pretty damn good. I was intrigued right away. It's mysterious and eerie. The right audience can really enjoy this. If you love survivalist films this one is a must.
Crawl (2019)
Fun to watch
Pretty enjoyable. Solid 6 for me. I wasn't expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised. Has many plotholes, it's unrealistic (I mean really! you wouldn't be able to sustain those injuries and I think those bites would leave more than a few scrapes), the dialogue is weak lol acting meh but overall it has a lot of scares that make you jump. It's also an interesting concept. I'm glad I saw it.
American Crime (2015)
Amazing show
The dialogue in this series is amazing. It's a constant debate between two polar opposites, with each having compelling evidence. You empathize with all the characters to some degree, even the bad ones. It's powerful and captures you. A clear demonstration of how the system ruins so many lives, at times innocent lives. A true depiction of how minorities struggle and how all races have their difficulties. It's an amazing show. By far one the best I've ever seen. If you're into injustices watch this show.
I Am a Killer (2018)
Great series!!!
One of the best documentary series. It captures you right away. It's haunting, captivating and let's you see another side of these murderers.
The Fall (2013)
best thriller I've seen in a while
Absolutely fantastic. Dark, creepy, well written, and feels so realistic. If you love crime thrillers this is a must see. Gillian Anderson has a strong female role which I loved. I couldn't find any flaws. Simply perfect.
Abducted in Plain Sight (2017)
Being naive sure can be dangerous
You're initial response will be how stupid can these people be but I don't think that's the case. I believe these people are very naive and have simply never dealt with a monster like this man. They are afraid of confrontation, consequences and don't know how to fight back. It's pretty disturbing to hear what this man did. It's tragic and makes you uneasy hearing the testimony from the victim. Overall good documentary for people who enjoy disturbing docs.
You (2018)
Absolutely fantastic
Such a great series. Really captures you right away. Dark, perverted, creepy, sexy, mysterious everything you want in a good binge worthy series. You love him, you hate him, you understand him, you root for him. Loved it!!!!
Haunters: The Art of the Scare (2017)
fun and interesting
If you love Halloween and love being scared this is definitely something you'll enjoy. It's pretty fascinating and shows u a side of horror you've never seen before. A history of haunted houses and how they have evolved. Everyone's story is different yet they all do it for the love of the scare. Fun and interesting. A must see for horror fans.
A Quiet Place (2018)
Spoiler in my first sentence!!! But loved this film
So they won me over when the first victim was a child. I know disturbing but I like disturbing films. Ok so there's people that like horror flicks that are gory and full of guts, blood and all types of disgusting stuff and there's people that like horror flicks that aren't so gory, that are less visual but scares you on a more internal level. This movie isn't for the gore whores lol, there are a lot of scary parts but no gore. Let me start by telling you that the people who rate this a 1 are not people who value a great horror film. This film is extremely suspenseful and tense, it has you anxious the whole time. Yes there are a few plot holes, I questioned quite a few things myself but it didn't take away from how much I enjoyed it. aside from these minor issues, It's a great film. The actors are fantastic and for being close to a silent film it really captures you. Someone compared it to hush and I couldn't agree more. I love this film. Definitely on my top 10. So if you're into horror Give it a try you won't be disappointed.
Arrival (2016)
Better than I expected.
By far one of the best films of the year. Captures you emotionally and demonstrates the true nature of our lack of humanity. True depiction of We are afraid of what we do not understand. If you're looking for an energetic sci-fi thriller like Independence Day you won't find it here, don't get me wrong I love Independence Day but this is more of a cerebral complex resemblance to signs. I have always loved sci-fi films; yet what most consist of is over the top visual effects and not much substance behind their plots and building a connection with the characters, however you grow fond of the characters and you feel their bond. It's a great film overall.
Hei tai yang 731 (1988)
interesting and disturbing
i am fascinated by disturbing films but too often i am disappointed with films that claim to be such. men behind the sun at first had me a bit skeptic due to the horrible voice overs however that is a minor attribute to the film so i went on with watching it. i was surprisingly satisfied with what i encountered. though it is not as realistically gory as i expected, it definitely is disturbing. whats even more disturbing is the fact that it is based on true events, events which took place at unit 731 in pingfang china in 1935-1945, here experiments which were depicted in men behind the sun took place. i read an interview with the director and he claims that the experiments that actually took place in unit 731 were far worse than what he depicted in the film. if you enjoy gory and disturbing films such as salo or cannibal holocaust then you will definitely enjoy men behind the sun. i was a little shaken up with the cat scene, i always feel that exploiting animals is not justifiable for the sake of any art form (cannibal holocaust disappointed me greatly due to the multiple real animal killings), however it turns out the scene with the cat was not real and that relieves me :) though it is in fact not real the scene is still very gory and disturbing nonetheless. the autopsy scene is also very memorable and unpleasant perhaps because it is a real autopsy, the director claims they were able to obtain a young boys corpse because a young boy had died at a local hospital, (i find this a bit weird seeing as the body which is undergoing the autopsy seems to be an adult rather than a young buy, however i got this information from the interview i read with the director so i took it as truth). another scene which is pretty horrific is the scene where rats are set on fire while still alive. the birds eye view camera angle makes this scene look pretty awesome because the rats appear to be balls of fire just running frantically on the street and again i do not condone this but it is all part of the horrors behind this film. in short if you want to be disturbed and have upsetting images in your head this is the movie for you. enjoy
The Girl Next Door (2007)
boring!!!
i do not understand how this film received a 6.8! the first 40 minutes were extremely grueling. nothing interesting and what i consider horrible acting. i love disturbing films and came across this one because i found it on a list of the top 25 most disturbing films ever made. disturbing it is not, nor is it even remotely interesting. it is in fact a cheap knock off of "an American crime" which is a great film in terms of cinematography, acting, and disturbance (it is also based on a true story). i would save my money and time, do not watch this film! instead invest your time into watching an American crime it is well worth it.
