Setting Up a Room (1967)
An accidental piece of slow cinema
Thanks RiffTrax for introducing this unintentionally hilarious slow-paced cult masterpiece that even Kelly Reichardt would be jealous of... ;)
Fun fact: It was actually directed by a female teacher who wrote books I found on Google Books about bus trips and day cares. (No kidding)
Cat Burglar (2022)
I Give This Series A Much Higher Rating
Even when you lose, the results are hilarious. I can understand why some would be frustated by answering witty questions about pop culture while trying to watch the cartoon in question, but as a toonhead who loves Avery's Texas-size slapstick, I recommended this.
Saturday Morning All Star Hits! (2021)
Uuuuuuuuuuuuuh... subs?
Pros: Some Saturday Morning veterans voicing this series (Maurice LaMarche aka the Brain and Cree Summer aka Suzie Carmichael, little known fact: latter was also on The Care Bears Movie); dinosaur cartoon turned college drama known as Randy, Create-A-Crittles (think Care Bears in the UK), Strongimals; Lil' Bruce (spoof of Howie Mandel's underrated Bobby's World), vaporwave VHS aesthetics
Cons: Uuuuuuuuh.. subs? ;)
Mutable Fire (1984)
I only saw this on Dailymotion
What I saw were clips of babies, spaceships, atomic bombs, Daffy Duck in a WWII cartoon and Jan in the Pan (if you get the MST3K reference) all on a film about erotic.psyche.
Toon in with Me (2021)
Classic Cartoons Aside
Think of Toony (my favorite skit character out of all the original characters on the show) and gang as MST3K lite
CinemAbility: The Art of Inclusion (2012)
Disabled "Celluloid Closet"
I admitted to fast forwarding the doc (recorded it on my DVR), but I thought Cinemability was predictable and questionable (anything that used Snow White, Mr. Magoo and Peter Pan as the old stereotypes while Finding Nemo and How to Train Your Dragon viewed as "modern representations" irks me (the 7 dwarves would've been negative if they worked for the Wicked Queen; Hook didn't lose his arm by defection or at war). Societal prejudices about special people is one thing to examine much like "The Celluloid Closet" which I find similar in structure, and even as an autistic Christian myself I'm tired of the stereotype/cliché of disabled people being called "God's children" and/or "angels" yet I'll always love positive portrayals of us disabled (mentally and physically) and glad to see a wheelchaired director put an effort to it.
Big Tim (1949)
ROLLER FREIGHT! ROLLER FREIGHT! ROLLER FREIGHT!
Great train animation by UPA and a cult classic among DeviantArt fans and railfans even for an ad about roller bearings; the reviewer got Kid Friction wrong as Mr. Friction.
13 Reasons Why (2017)
American Teenage Crime Story
Pros: Yes, the message is always important
Cons: But I would praise it more if I didn't saw Degrassi and other shows with serious issues
The Chase (2013)
Weakest Link Lite
Pros: The host; The Beast and so on
Cons: The "suspense" of whether the contestants got the answers right/wrong is obvious
Rock Odyssey (1987)
Plain Weird
Pros: Mostly the animation and music; glad I saw this curiosity
Cons: It is just plain weird
