Tarot (2024)
Tons of CGIs and flat characters...
I didn't expect much after watching the trailer, where they usually manage to put almost all interesting or worth-watching moments. However, it was even worse than I thought it could be. Story had its potential, like a lot of them, but the screenplay is oversimplified and predictable. Add 2-dimensional characters and the recipe for another disaster is ready. Use fast-forward and you ready to watch this movie.
PS: I wonder if it became sort of mandatory to use interracial couples and a bit of "gay vibe" in every movie nowadays? May be its time to skip a few? It just looks so ridiculous and artificial.
Fear the Walking Dead (2015)
3 Seasons
It should have been cancelled after the first 3 seasons. After that - just a few decent episodes from each season.
The final season 8 is a share disaster, the culmination of dumb screen writing and lazy acting. The dialogs are dumb, the characters are boring and act with zero logic. There is nothing to care about in this season - it feels like the show is not ending, but dying. Slowly, full of plot holes and sterile attempts to get viewer's emotional feedback. The only thing that keeps me watching the next episode (with a lot of fast-forwarding!) is curiosity - how and when it all (finally) ends?
No Time to Die (2021)
It will not be an easy task...
...to find a new James Bond actor after the great job done by Craig. I just hope they won't kill the character with some all-inclusive, awaken, politically correct cr*p. In that case, we will have to watch old bondiana all over again.
The Tomorrow War (2021)
It is not a milestone like..
...Predator, Terminator or Alien. It has it's flaws in logics of the timeline. But it is surprisingly good and quite entertaining too. Solid story, good actors with detailed characters, nice touch of humor and is not overdone with the visual effects. Just right.
Recommended.
Podolskie kursanty (2020)
It is not your regular blockbuster...
Even though I was not impressed with the dialogues and some rather overdone depiction of the soviet era characters (however, they did exist), I would prefer this movie over some cr*p like "Fury"(2014), where "cool dude" like Brad Pit almost wins WWII, killing elite German military by hundreds)) You wouldn't find anything like that in the long line of the Russian military movies. If you expect a hollywood style flick - don't bother. If you want to learn some REAL history about WWII - watch it.
Russians know a thing or two about WWII, since they fought the whole Europe and won.
The Walking Dead: Here's Negan (2021)
It was well worth waiting...
...for this final episode. That's what I call the depth of the character, not the garbage of the previous bonus episodes. This one hits you like "Lucile". It WILL get your attention and will play with your emotions. Great actors work! It felt like I just have finished reading a short, but amazing book.
Morgan is just getting better and better as the show ages. We will need more Negan in the coming seasons. Amen to that.
Safer at Home (2021)
Highschool project...
...on really tight budget. There is not much else to say here. One should be careful with 4+ rating on imdb. Lesson learned.
Pereval Dyatlova (2020)
Thumbs up...
By now this is the BEST cinematographic depiction of the events. Very good.
The Midnight Sky (2020)
I can not recall a single movie with this guy...
... that was not pretentious (long pauses, "smart faces", big music and big words etc etc), but at the same time, in it's very essence - empty, boring to death waste of time and human effort. Why? Why I took a chance and gave it a try, thinking that it might be different than any other "cloonie movie"? I don't know. May be the reason was an uplifting holiday mood and I was unreasonably generous...?
How in the hell this guy, at his age (should know better by now), still pretends to be an artist? But wait a sec..He is also a "director"! O tempora, o mores!
Good wine gets better with age. But George Clooney is definitely not a wine.
He is just old.
The Twilight Zone (2019)
I would never guess that...
...libtards are actually capable of scr*wing up even this great franchise. I'm not American, but have a soft spot for certain US classical movies, showing older America: 50s, 60s etc There is something entertaining about the language they speak, their dialogues, vocabulary etc.So far I was enjoying The Twilight Zone. The Complete Definitive Collection (1959-1964). But lately I've discovered that they managed to renew the series and the latest- 2019th. I thought I'll give it a try just for a change...What a disappointment! They brought their sick liberal agenda even into the "Twilight Zone";) It was so obvious, that it is laughable. C'mon, folks...
The Empty Man (2020)
The Empty 2 hours and 17 minutes
This movie had a great potential, under one crucial condition - it should have been about 30-45 minutes long and had a less convoluted (unnecessarily twisted) ending. As a matter of fact, the beginning was quite original and not forced, but after that the movie took a lengthy, round about path. Visually appealing? Yes.High quality, genuine soundtrack? Yes. But when you spread really thin plot over 2:17H story line, you receive something very diluted and with subtle, watery taste. Good thing I didn't have to pay for the screener.
2067 (2020)
Acting s*cks, but..
...the plot is quite interesting. There tons of movies twisting around time/time travel, but some of them already became classical, while the rest are just "wonabes" (mostly sad to watch, FF button is red hot etc etc). This movie has more or less simple plot, but nevertheless is original enough to be entertaining... Even though, the authors have zero idea that by far most of the O2 on our planet is provided by...the world ocean and not plants on the soil, it doesn't ruin the simple idea of this movie: take care of your planet.
Acting is bad. At times they look like idiots, IMHO. The length of the movie should have been at least 30% less than it is.
The New Mutants (2020)
it is OK
I doubt it is worth watching more than once, but it is quite entertaining and with a few fresh story lines, or should I say - different view points. Another rather vague, but "trendy feature" - the introduction of some homo thread (lesbo scenes). Well, we all know new academy qualifications/requirements for Oscars))
The Bay of Silence (2020)
Garbage...
It is not confusing or sophisticated, like some reviewers noticed...It is morose, empty, veeeeeery slow..."nothing burger". Really. Don't waste your time - it wan't entertain you in any possible way.
The Silencing (2020)
Not bad, not bad at all..
I had my doubts several times during the movie, but this one is quite alright and keeps you at your seat till the end.
Jojo Rabbit (2019)
Comedy? Really?
Only an idiot can make a comedy based on such a "funny" matter.
Garbage. Except for the final song, of course.
Underwater (2020)
Nothing special..
..about this one, as many pointed out already. A mix of expected cut offs from other similar movies. As I said - nothing epic here, but it is all about being entertained and this movie delivers (marginally...). Believable acting, interesting (not much of originality though..) script. However, it is entertaining to watch for at least once, provided that you have large screen and decent sound system - there are lots of low light scenes and atmospheric sound effects.
The Rhythm Section (2020)
Annoying....
Really takes an effort to watch, even with fast forward. Bad acting and even worse script. Dull and flatulent waste of time. Don't bother.
The Endless (2017)
great idea screwed up..
It will disappoint you. You will be just fine if you give it a pass.
Uncut Gems (2019)
INSTANT CLASSIC
Just when you think that you've seen it all and there is low chance that they might score it big with one more really interesting, emotionally connecting, very original movie, there comes...UNCUT GEMS.
Go watch it, folks. It is not perfect, but it will entertain you, touch your emotionally. You won't regret.
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
Lacking a LOT in all aspects...
Oh my...it is not even entertaining. During many episodes you catch yourself thinking: please get it over with, I know what is next, I know EXACTLY how it ends...Not a great sign for the whole movie if this kind of thought start to repeat from the very beginning. So...apart from the fact that Daisy Ridley is an eye candy, there is not much else to watch in this next-Disney-failure.
In the Shadow of the Moon (2019)
We all can see that USA is devided, but...
...to turn this into another liberal/Marxist/leftist madness re: "the world as you know it will end"...LOL Netflix, relax already. I thought that "Bird Box" was enough for "agenda" messaging. But there you go)) What a cr*p, really. Could have been quite entertaining...
Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019)
The famous franchise, sometimes...
..interesting AND entertaining for wider demographics, became one of those "teen-movies", where you know exactly what WILL happen in the next 5-10 minutes increments. But it is not why it's so bad. The acting and the story itself are quite underdeveloped, to say the least. Parker dude himself is trying way too hard to act as an imbecile, so nobody can suspect that he is a ....Spider-man.
Overall, it seems that everybody who were involved in the process of making this movie, decided not to sweat to much, because the title grants the pass to the greatness. No, not this time. I could not tolerate 30 minutes of this boring "masterpiece". Don't waste your time. Just watch one of the "Avengers" one more time))
The Snowman (2017)
In one word...
Booooring. In order to get maximum 4 stars, this movie could have been at least three times shorter.
John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (2019)
Laughable nonsense for the teens...
As much as I liked the first movie for it's creativity and "harmony of violence", I found the latest installation quite tasteless. Yes, there is a lot of fast-paced action (s. manslaughter), but it seems that the story line itself was created around the killings, not vice versa. Empty, mindless plot acted with verrrry serious, but dumb faces. I didn't expect the depth of cinematography, but at least it should be marginally entertaining. It is not.
Total disappointment.
