Nine Dead (2009)
Stuuuuuupid!!! it's craptastic!!!
My hubby and I were cruising the netflix site for something suspenseful without being overly gory. What we got was the cheesy-weeziest movie I think both of us have ever seen!! The acting was pitiful, they totally rushed through the beginning. Because of this you don't even get half a chance to develop any feelings for the characters. The dialogue was RIDICULOUSLY bad and the longer it went on, the more and more far-fetched it got. I was happy there wasn't much gore, but I didn't think it was supposed to be a comedy either!! I guess the actors did the best they could with what they had, which wasn't much. We found it to be totally craptastic and got a few laughs out of it, but then we realized that it was 90 minutes of our lives we wouldn't ever get back. When he told me that the end was the end, I so didn't believe him until I saw the credits!! Holy God the ending was like they just forgot the last page of the script. I think maybe they should advise their director to indeed quit his dayjob!!
Butterfly on a Wheel (2007)
Great Thriller
I wasn't sure if I wanted to see this when my boyfriend first brought it home. Pierce Brosnan as a bad guy? Kidnapped kid? Not really my cup of tea, as I find these types of movies tend to stress me out. Then looking at the cast, I was shocked I hadn't heard of this movie before. "It must be horrible" I thought. My boyfriend said to watch it and give it a try.
What a fantastic movie!! At first you find yourself wondering WHAT these people could have possibly done for this kind of revenge. The story unfolds piece by piece into an all too climatic ending! I think I actually shouted "OMG NO WAY!!!"
Watch it, it's original, scary, tense, and totally edge-of-your-seat! I'm thankful I listened to the boyfriend (for once LOL)
Bully (2001)
This Movie was REPULSIVE and STUPID
I dvr'ed this movie the other day, and couldn't wait to watch it, as I had read the book a few years ago and was entrhalled by the story. I don't recall the book being all about gay sex and parents so ignorant that they aren't even believable on the screen.
If I can say anything about this movie, it's a drug infested, soft-core porno and if I wanted to watch a bunch of teenagers having sex with anyone and everyone I would have rented something like that. I really thought the movie would go into the feelings of the characters and why they felt that this boy needed to die. I guess they really were just some stupid, spoiled kids though, as the movie showed none of that.
I have a hard time believing any of the story. I cannot believe that parents are truly that ignorant, and if they are, then shame on them. These kids are rotten, spoiled, drug addicted brats, and I was a teenager once too, and not that long ago, and I never seen or acted as stupidly as these kids did, maybe because we had parents who cared about us, and we cared about ourselves. I got into my share of trouble, but this movie is just a glorification of ignorance and self abuse. I couldn't even bring myself to finish it, that's how unbelievable the story and characters are. I wonder if the real life kids were really this ignorant and stupid. If so, then I guess they are right where they belong, behind bars.
No Country for Old Men (2007)
I Was Pretty Disappointed....
First of all, I'm a huge Coen brother's fan. They have made some awesomely beautiful, strange, hilarious, gruesome and entertaining movies. I really was so excited to see this, especially with all the Oscar buzz surrounding it. Boy, was I disappointed.
I understand that this movie is based on a book, so maybe that's my problem with it. I didn't read the book. It was beautifully shot, and well acted, but so confusing, and with some characters that just make you go "what were THEY in this for?" Javier Bardem's character is, in a word, disturbing. I never knew what true evil could look like and act like, and he personified it perfectly. No shock he won the Oscar for supporting Actor. He deserved it.
If you read the book, I suppose the movie would be awesome for you, but for me, it left a lot of unanswered questions, and when it ended, I was just left shaking my head. So many pointless things going on, and no real reason for so much of it. Just a strange, strange movie. I would not recommend it, and that's a shame, because I know the Coens' are true masters of their craft. Usually, anyway.
I Know Who Killed Me (2007)
Just Horrible, what a disappointment
I was really excited to see this movie, thinking it would have gotten a lot more press if Lindsay hadn't had started acting all stupid so I thought i would give her the benefit of the doubt and check this out.
I'M SORRY I DID. IT WAS HORRIBLE!
It was totally predictable and poorly acted, even Lindsay sucked, at best. Half of the movie you're not sure if it's a dream or real, and leaves a lot of questions. I hate movies like that. I want to know whats going on, I don't want to sit there going "huh??" every 10 minutes. There were a couple cool gore scenes but nothing to write home about. And the ending, ugh, it was the worst part! I've always thought of Lindsay as a pretty good actress but this just failed in my book. A decent idea, but it just wasn't put together well at all.. I want the two hours of my life back!!!
The Messengers (2007)
was happily surprised
i am not a big fan of the super-gore movies like the Saw series (did see it) and Hostel (refused to see it) but this movie was a really good "scary" movie. it had a lot of jump scenes and i was on the edge of my seat a lot. i liked the plot and the acting was good. i would recommend it to others as a good scare, like Silence of the Lambs or The Ring/The Ring II as it is a good movie without a lot of gore but you won't be disappointed. there are some drawn out sequences and parts of the plot are dragged out but over all it was a surprisingly good film. i really didn't know what to expect. They should make more movies like these then movies they just show blood, blood and more blood. that is so tasteless and tacky to me. some is good but too much is just gross.
