L'origine du monde (2020)
Brilliant talents spoiled by humorless vulgarity
After a reasonably good start Mr Laffitte, excellent actor falls into a pit of shameful disgrace. Atrocious manipulation of an elderly woman, ugly nudes scenes, mediocrity at its worst.
Netflix has a gift to turn excellent actors in a turmoil of vulgarity. I HATE THEM.
As i have literally nothing to add to this disastrous junk to reach the (stupid) 600 characters limit I just repeat my statement.

The Valet (2022)
This redo is an absolute mess!
The original french movie was a real delight, a little gem of a feel good movie.
This redo is terrible, casting is pathetic, the side stories brought into the script just don't float, the rythm which is supposed to come from an agressive editing with cars, streets, building is just desperate.
S-T-A-Y A-W-A-Y.
Boîte noire (2021)
Boring, trivial, simplistic, ugly
Simple recipy:
- Spend one full hour (I'm serious) watching monitors screening the recordings of the Black box after crash..
- Reach and enter to ruin the potential validity of all evdenceyou might find
- Blame the ugly business man who lied for greed..
Typical French leftist mind scenario. No twist, no surpries, a full week at the office behind your computer ,with no so handsome or charming actors/actresses.
Sty away !
No Time to Die (2021)
Yes, It's time to die...
I'm really sorry for Mr Craig, whom I appreciate very much to have participated to this wreckage.
The story in itself although simplistic and childish could have done alright if it was not for the numerous and totally uncreative interludes of stupid fights "Bond kill them all" in which he is involved.
Let's add that Mrs Seydoux is not even plain, and like Miss Lynch definitively ill shaped. Mrs. De Armas fight-dances well for a couple of minutes,
AND THIS IS IT.
Can i add that the BR 4K release is ,as often these days much to dark and too generous in the"new" orange and green tints that BT2020 encouarges wrongfully.
RIP BOND.
House of Gucci (2021)
REquiem for a bunch of overdue Actors and Director!
So slow,so conventional, so poorly lit, sopoorly dramatized Icould not even envision!.
Just as bad and nasty as the G.familly.
The only creation is from Mme Pinault, whosehusband probably enjoyed the depiction of this family wreckage!
Le discours (2020)
Excellent, with a totally irrelevant Abstact in IMDB !
This movie is full of charm and extremely subtle.
The main character is played by a VERY talented young actor from the renowned Comedie Francaise, which bring all the subtilitiesof the script as an enjoyable jewel!
The story is about "which Speech (discours) shalI deliver at my sister's wedding ?"and the several angles through which this shy but talenetd brother might articulate his speech,
A real jewel. Don't know if the English subtitles are good enough to convey the subtilities of the monologues!
Vanquish (2021)
BO-RING
Cant imagine someone can finance the implementatin f such a mess. Is Morgan freeman so badly indebted that he needs this kind of casting?
Hanover Street (1979)
Slow paced, un-erotic, un-believable,
Two hours of my life spoiled. I love the actors, BUT the characters are just transparent, un-real, the general context is enticing but the scenario is uncredibly simplistic, I love the fighter-bombers squad we the same scene reappears three time with no reality, I love France but the village looks so British. And last but not least I love romance (or even erotic scenes) but the one and only one appearing here is a terrible a a colscup of bad tes!
STAY AWAY!
A total miss.
The Irishman (2019)
Would be OK in two hours. second half pathetic
The first houris good ( Not over * though) but the last two hours are pathetic.Every line is repeated three times, probably to meet timing requirements from Netflix, or because the expected audience is over 80 and half dumb or half deaf.
Really cant understand this average evaluation over 8 !
The Highwaymen (2019)
Slow, actionless, NETFLIX !
The actual content could be shown in 15 minutes. Every scene is diluted to disgust, a pity Costner had to produce himself for that! W. Harrelson is excellent as usual, in a well defined character.
No creativity , just old recipies, slow pace, invading music.
Could NETFLIX please let the Movie guys do movies?
Doubles vies (2018)
Boring, arrogant, pointless
This movie is typical of the snubbish attitude of parisian bobos in the so called "cultural" business.
Point less arguments about eBooks, Kindle and Google(45 minutes) and a meager petit bourgeois vaudeville, boring and NOT well filmed, about some petty affairs between so called friends of this arrogant set of profiteurs.
No doubt that this is one of the many description of the avilisation of the French society ambiance, and a good foreseeing signal previous to the recent gilet-jaunes riots!
Ocean's Eight (2018)
Fancy girls, Weak scenario, Rythmless directing
Do NOT evenwait forthe !.99 on Amazon, have a walk, have a drink, meet a friend, stay alone do what ever you want but STAY AWAY from this terribly boring movie
Le sens de la fête (2017)
Terrible, too much ressources, lacking inspiration
Toledano and Co did well in "serious" dramatic movies. here they deliver a pathetic attempt to turn Bacris's talent and grumpiness into a subtle form of comedy, it's a TOTAL FAILURE, but for the last 10 min of this movie, ifyou are still in the room watching it!.
Ma Loute (2016)
Desperate 20th century Trostsky inspired view of France. Ultimately Boring
SO plain and negative on any aspect. The 'Elite' look and feel stupid while the 'workers class' are depicted as ultimately atrocious and ugly human flesh eaters. It's supposed to be a charge creating laughter.
In the theater where I saw it, in Paris, NOT a single smile except for one in the last minute. its definitively boring and so biased that i am ashamed it was selected for Cannes. And as to aggravate the picture the only likable character of the movie is an ambiguous boy/girl illustrating the 'genre' quarrel France that has been nurturing recently.
STAY AWAY definitively> Don't EVEN DOWNLOAD IT FOR FREE
Captain Phillips (2013)
American Blindness, absolutely shocking.
This is the story of 4 miserable Somalian, lured into piracy by mob bosses, greed and poverty. With their 10 feet primitive vessel they assault a 150 meters long container ship that they conquer easily because they carry guns.. And then you need two hours of an event-less movie to see the US navy and the hundreds of officers, sailors and SEALS proceed calmly to the site and wait for the moment where they will be able to shoot down the three hostage keepers. The shocking aspect is more in the votes given by both the public AND the critics. The movie, based on the real story is too real to present any interest. Too clear cut characters: the smart pirate, the kid pirate, the dumb pirate, the crazy one. And the pure, effective, benevolent US cavalry, or navy, whatever. Tom Hanks does its best to seem really shocked when showered with the blood of his dead keepers. This movie and the appreciation it has been given will be seen outside of the US as a disgrace ...
De l'autre côté du périph (2012)
Much better than expected
This movie is an undisclosed little jewel. Of course you have to understand the context: separated by the "periph", the Urban Circular highway around Paris, are on one side well-off bourgeois people and on the other side the unemployed, drug trafficking young sons-of-Muslim-immigrants. Quite an opposition of style , language and criteria in life. And it goes the same with the cops trying to tame these worlds....one if well dressed white polite etc and the other one turns out to be black and speaking the french suburban slang... I liked very much this movie, and all my friends did, because its MUCH more than a cop-movie. Of course you have to be open-minded, and have some notion of the context , which obviously is not the case of the first comment writer.
Shame (2011)
Complacent, Racoleur, Boring, only for Tube Addicts
This movie is about sex addiction and how miserable it makes you. The point is that the movie itself is miserable too.
The only point of interest is the relationship between brother and sister, but it takes ten minutes out of one hundred. Most of the "non-action" takes place in the Metro, where we are invited to read Fassbender's torments by watching him "non-acting". He plays well, OK, but the scenario is empty, the subject is weak or at best trying to attract voyeurism clients.
Sex scenes are sub-standard, the prostitutes look like fresh turnips and do not bring any heat into the game, and all the commonplaces of the genre are present: Oh my god, the girl I might really like does not give me a hard-on, the girl in the Metro is always in the same carriage, etc etc..
I dumped my DVD. Which happened two or three time maximum since the invention of this media...
The Tourist (2010)
This movie is a covert "redo" of a much better movie "Anthony Zimmer" made in 2005
Clearly a copy-cat ( not a real "remake", worse than the first one) of "Anthony Zimmer" (2005) This redo has not even the decency to mention the scenario writer and Director, Mr Jérôme Salle...!! Shame ! Rush to see the original, which turns out to be shorter, neater and more suspenseful, without the useless extra action of Johny Depp playing the Equilibrist ... Mrs Jolie , in spite of all her lips is very clearly not the quality of actress of Sophie Marceau Clearly a copy-cat ( not a real "remake", worse than the first one) of "Anthony Zimmer" (2005) This redo has not even the decency to mention the scenario writer and Director, Mr Jérôme Salle...!! Tout ça... pour ça! (1993)
Life and its Intricacies
This is one of the best Lelouch ever. All human feeling are brilliantly mixed together to create a wonderful blend of emotions, moves, beauty...and fun!
Love, hate, greed, Invention, Chance, Crookedness,Humor are the key ingredients of this brilliantly interwoven scenario, well served by the best actors of their generation. Ravishing women ( Marie-Sophie L. and Allessandra Martines, both former Lelouch Wifes or lovers) and Talented men (Luchini, Huster but also Darmon, Gamblin, Gérard, Lindon).
Of course, its talkative , at times, and you need either a good practice of french or good subtitles and to see it twice ! Definitely a "Must See".
