Hermafrodita (2009)
A mature story and a decent film
The following is my review of this movie as apart of my ''194 countries, 194 movies'' list
16-Dominican Republic
A female with Hermaphroditism living in a small town falls in love with a stringer without telling him about her condition ..troubles ensued when her best friend gets jealous of her and her boyfriend finds out her secret.
A surprisingly very mature movie from such a small nation with very mature emotions and good story telling i really enjoyed this one .. the editing was horrendous though making the movie hard to follow at times, and the ending felt rushed a little bit.
A decent pick from a different culture and about a "taboo" topic.
6/10.
El despertar de las hormigas (2019)
Quiet, beauriful movie
Life isn't always white or black, it's -and for the most part- just gray .. this movie tells the story of some gray days of the life of a housewife when her husband insist on having a third kid which she dosent want.
I really enjoied this movie, it was a beatuiful surprise as CostaRica's neighbours really have set the bar very low (as i watched it as a part of my quest to watch a movie from every country in the world), it maybe lacked some pace in the 2nd act, but all in all it was a really beautiful movie.

La vida loca (2008)
Dead people shouldnt be filmed like that
We all know how tough the gang life is and we dont need to see dead people in every shot to believe that .. at least in my culture death have its respect and i couldnt tolerate watching dead people being filmed and handled in a disrespectful manner like that .. apart from this the movie was repetitive and messy
Soy Cuba (1964)
A must see for cinema lovers .. but not for everyone.
While being stunning in cinematography and very creative in the camera work i think it suffered from mediocre acting and ''lazy'' work from the extras (in the first story to be specific) made the whole experiance not pleasant.
Atanarjuat (2001)
A great different experince
This is exactly what i was looking for when i started this crazy idea (to watch a film from every country of the world) .. a movie from a part of the world i knew nothing about, people speaking a language that i never heard, a score played by instruments i never listened to. adding all that to it's a really well made movie and we have an immortal piece of art .. set as a documentary taken place about a millennium ago and telling an Inuit mythical story, it was so immersive to the point that at times it was very hard to believe it was just a film.
Canoa (1976)
A great hard to watch movie
This was a hard film to watch .. not because it was a bad movie or something but because the story it was telling .. and what made it even harder is the fact that it was based on a true story .. a great movie that will leave you shocked, angry and vindictive but as a viewer satisfied.
1917 (2019)
A Let down TBH
I watched the movie after seeing all the hype about it and after recommendations from friends .. and ngl i didnt get why the hype.
i cant deny i really liked the visual experiance and the film was directed very good .. it was the only thing i enjoyed about the film.
in my modest opinion the decision that the movie would be made as a one long shot (thogh it was executed in the best way possible) wasnt the right decision .. let me explain ..
being a long shot the time of the movie and its events was very short .. the whole events of the film took place in only 2 hours .. even on the front that is a shirt time for alot of events to happen so most of the events wasnt realistic to happen for our "heros" and most of it felt like it was put there to happen .. the mouse to run into the wire only when they was there .. the german plan to crash just at there feets and just when they arrive .. the germans to kill all the cows and just leave this one to our heros.
also the movie is filled with dum decisions and dum war cliches that was hard to believe.
The Blue Elephant 2 (2019)
and every thing went as it was planned to ..
As the film ended and as i was walking of the theatre i only rememberd that meme of adli el-k saying "and everything went as it was planned to.." ... as in every recent film made by marwan hamed the videography and the image quality was at its best .. and as every film composed by hisham nazeh the sound experiance was at its best .. and as the cast was filled with big names the acting was good .. but the only thing i didnt expect it to happen that i did like hend sabry's performance .. after seeing the trailers i was afraid that her performance would be filled with cringe-worthy moments and overacting but it wasnt .. maybe they just picked the cringy moments and put it in the trailers for some reason ?!!
the story tho .. the plot was very weak that anytime u would ask ur self "while beeing impresed by the scenery" why all this happening ?!or what is purpose of him doing that ?! what is happening for the god sake ?? u wouldnt answer
apart from the visual and sound experiance the movie didnt interest me at all and i found some parts of the movie .. boring
i really would like to see a pure arthouse/surreal movie made by marwam hamed .. and a scenario by ahmed murad made by a better storyteller director .. i think it will be better for both.
Black Mirror: USS Callister (2017)
"probully" episode ... be a bully and the bullied would be punished :)
In spite of the major plotholes (biology and tech ones ) socially this episode was very furstrating ... daly was bullied by his partner "walton" and his co-workers and he was scared to fight back ... maybe this was his motivation to create infinity to fight back in his own imagination ... he clearlly had mental problems and needed help ... but the show "for some reason" thought that he needed punishment and to be killed or lost in his mind or what ever ... very furstrating episode and not recommeded
