Crazy for Christmas (2005)
Nice Film
This was a film that I discovered by accident. I caught the first hour and fell asleep. Then I forgot the name of it. Then a friend of mine told me the name of the film. I had to order it from Amazon so I could watch it. I was glad I bought it. This is a wonderful film.
A Single Mother (Who isn't looking for love but not ruling it out) ends up driving a "Crazy Old Man" around town on Christmas Eve Day. Much to her dismay because she feels she is neglecting her child.
In the course of the day she finds out that "Life is Great" "Happiness and the Truth are not always hand and hand" and a few more things! Most of all she learns that "Forgiveness is the key to life"
This film is a Christmas Treasure. Look For It.
A Time to Remember (1988)
Endless
The kid wants to sing dad won't let him. Well instead of this being rip off of "The Jazz Singer" oh wait it is. Never mind.
This goes on for far too long for what the story is. It would of been great had it been shorter and not basically repeat every scene.
This film is a huge THUMBS DOWN
Live PD (2016)
Denver Leverett Loves The Camera
I have watched this show for months now. There is a few things I have noticed
1) Denver Leverett is terrible person. He grandstands for the camera. He is always a jerk when talks to anyone. He might be a "Good Cop" on paper but in reality he is a nightmare of human being! He is very condensing to every person. HE gives these long rambling speeches so he can get camera time. "Why Hasn't His Captain Called Him Out On This Behavior".
2) Dan Abramas thinks he is a comedian and laughs at his own jokes. He reminds of a dad "Who Thinks He is cool"
3) The 2 person panel you can tell do not like each other. The White Guy (Sean "Sticks" Larkin) Seems to hate to sitting next to Tom Morris.
4) Most of police officers in this show our hard working and decent. The only jerk seems to be Denver Leverett.
5) It seems to be Police always seem to pull over "African Americans" and always claim to smell marijuana!
Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989)
Tina Was Not The Major Problem But One of Many Problems
This film was a huge creative mess. There is so many things wrong with it that this was the "Last Halloween" film for 6 years.
The events of this film take place 1 year after "Halloween 4". What was a huge misfire was that "Halloween 4" had a brilliant ending. Sadly that gets pushed to the side for "Halloween 5" and so we end up getting a typical 1980's slasher film.
Here is some of the problems the film had
* Killing off Rachel * * The Tina Charterer* * The Comic Relief Cops* * The Stupid Soundtrack * * The Myers House Changed * * The Mask was terrible * * The Dork with the laugh * * The Introduction of the Man in Black * * Having Jamie be a mute for 1/2 the film * * The lack of individuality for any the female roles! * * Not Showing the Deaths of the cops (In the television adds we see Michael starting to attack them) * * The Ending*
Now believe it or not this film could still be re-edited into a better film. By editing down the "Tina Role" and "Policemen Roles" They could also "Edit out most of the laughs that dork does.
Sadly what was wrong with this film was only magnified 6 years later in "Halloween 6".
The Mistle-Tones (2012)
A Christmas Joy
During the Holiday Season there seems to be non stop 24/7 Christmas on every cable channel. Most of them are bland however "The Mistle- tones" is not a bland film. It is an excellent movie that proves "Christmas Movies Can Be Great". The "Mistle-Tones" is the best example I can think of that shows great films can be made about Christmas. It also nice to see a Christmas movie that is not a "Spin" on "A Christmas Carol" or "It's a Wonderful Life". This is not a rip off of "Freaky Friday" or "Groundhog Day". This is not about a poor widow about lose her home, or business. Its not about mending fences. All this is about is a singing contest.
The plot is simple. Holly gets cheated out winning a spot on the "Snow-belles". This is a local singing group the performs every year at the mall on Christmas Eve. Holly ends up getting the mall to hold auditions for the "Deck the Mall Spectacular" and now the "Snow- belles" have to compete with Holly's group that she just formed with fellow co-workers.
This all sounds like it would be "Stupid". Trust me I thought it would be. However I had the time of my life watching this. Iended up buying the CD on I-TUNES.
If you love Christmas & Christmas Music then watch this. Its a perfect night of entertainment for everyone.
Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984)
The Christmas Wish 1998 Film Used the Same House
The Jarvis house in this film was used in many films since this was released. One television film called "The Christmas Wish" used the same home. They also used several other "Friday" locations so see if you can spot them. One that you will miss is "The Diner" from "Friday #5". There is a scene in "The Christmas Wish" where Neil Patrick Harris is standing by gas pumps. If you look hard enough you will recognize the location.
Now "Friday #4" to me was lots a fun. He is an almost logical story and it delivers to chills and the kills.
In this film Jason once again is killing people but he does die at the end. However he is later resurrected in "Friday #6".
This film holds up and has a very good cast. IT is still one of the best of the series!
Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me (1992)
The Fan Edit is Better than the Theatrical Cut
If you are currently watching "Twin Peaks" on Showtime and are a little confused then you should watch "Fire Walk With Me". As much as I am enjoying some of the new episodes of "Twin Peaks" it is a little strange!
I know people that have never seen the show before are saying one thing "What the Hell"? I can't blame them because the show seems to be catering to the die hard fans of the show. Most of all it is catering to people that know and remember every character from not only the show but the film "Fire Walk With Me".
Now I was always a fan of the television show. I was mad that the show had ended with a cliffhanger.
I was happy to hear that "Fire Walk With Me" was coming. A year later when it was released I was shocked that it did not solve the television cliffhanger however I did enjoy the film.
I thought it was strange but very good. Fans of the show hated "Fire" because most the cast from the television show were not featured. It also din't help that the film was too violent for some fans. In the television show it was about "Who killed Laura Palmer. "Twin Peaks Fire Walk With Me" The film was about why she murdered.
I will admit the film is very confusing. The GREEN RING was a new element that was never mentioned in the television show. Also what was really annoying to me was that the murder of Laura slightly differs from what we were told on the television show. In the television show we are told (Through Waldo the Bird) that Laura kept saying "Leo No" and that Laura had a poker chip in her stomach. These events are not shown in "Fire".
The assembly cut of the film was rumored to have run over 5 hours. When the the film was released it ran 135 minutes. Most of all the film did not resolve the cliffhanger from the television show.
Before the film was released in the USA it Premiered at the "Cannes Film Festival" and it was booed. Now I am not sure if they saw a different version of "Fire" but the film was panned everywhere. This was a shock to David because the pilot to the television show was "The Best Reviewed" television pilot of all time.
Well most fans had herd before "Fire's" release was that there was many cut scenes that featured the television cast. For years the fans were hoping that those scenes would turn up somewhere. BE it an extended television cut of the film or a special edition on home video. After all in 1984 David Lynch directed the film "Dune". A few years later when the film when shown on television it had about an hour of never before seen footage so hopes were high that this would be the case for "Fire" but that never happened until 2014 when David Lynch finally released the deleted footage. This was 22 years after the film was released.
However these scenes were not edited back into the film. David Lynch likes the theatrical cut of "Fire" so he did not want to tamper with it. However fans did and someone who goes by Q2 made a great edit that included the deleted scenes and in reality it is a better film however, it does run 3 1/2 hours! Best News is that it does solve the cliffhanger from the television show!
What is strange is that for a fan edit is that it runs smoother than the theatrical edition. The original theatrical version is shorter but seems longer! Now there is a few scenes that were re- edited back in that were not needed. On the plus side the fan edit does improve the viewers vision on the problems that Laura had to face in the last 7 days of her life! If you ever get the chance to see this edit it is worth watching, It makes "Fire" a masterpiece!
