Rick and Morty: That's Amorte (2023)
Return to form
Easily the best episode of the season so far, carries humour and a touch of feels that recent Rick and Morty was lacking. Really reminded me of season 2.
Rick and Morty do what they do best, delve into a deeply concerning issue and rip it wide open (pun intended) with its usual, characteristic sauce. It also mirrors what we experience in our daily lives without beating us over the head with it.
I really hope this kind of episode isn't a standalone for this season, and it follows through with more like it. Really got an old Rick and Morty feel from this, which I wasn't expecting, almost nostalgic.
Star Trek: Lower Decks: Second Contact (2020)
It's a start
Its fairly ok, i managed to laugh a few times. It's absolutely not star trek though. All the characters talk exceptionally fast, barely giving enough time to understand whats happening or sometimes what they're saying.
Doctor Who: Spyfall: Part One (2020)
Confusingly Basic
Lazy writing pretty much sums up this episode. Basic spy stuff and jokes, nothing interesting that hasn't been done before. I honestly didn't believe this was a Doctor Who episode for a while, it was all over the place.
I was left feeling confused and had many questions at the end. Like why did the Master let Yaz live when he could've easily let her die. There are many plot holes such as that. Such as MI6 not believing in Aliens even though London was invaded several times with plenty of evidence in the sky, and half explained away as 'Not our problem lol'.
The only interesting part for me was the Aliens, but Its probably just the Cybermen or something cyber-like the Master did last time. I'd be very surprised if its something new.
Not a great start to the season, but it's just intriguing enough to see the second part, nothing more.
Doctor Who: Kerblam! (2018)
Another Solid Ep
Amaz.. I mean kerblam takes a look at our almost too realistic future. The twist wasn't that obvious, but I knew one was coming. I loved the consequences of the villain's actions. Some of the CGI was a bit.. iffy, but it is only a TV episode. Creepy, twisty, dark, and a grim future, this ep is one of the best of the season so far!
Doctor Who: The Ghost Monument (2018)
Better than the First
Better than the first episode. This one at least kept me engaged. Most of the CGI effects were actually pretty decent. I still feel there's some more to improve though.
Jodie always talks like shes out of breath, can be difficult to listen to her at some points (or keep up) but shes essentially The Doctor.
Graham seems to have gone from pussy to predator in this ep though, i dunno where hes got his balls from but i felt it was too quick of a change.
Ryan had some good bits, but the ladder bit was cringe. I hope that wont be a thing in every episode... "omg a ladder, time for a motivational speech"
Yasmin might as well have been a ghost.
Side characters were decent, more developed than one of the main characters *cough*
The 'villain' was extremely confusing to me, i have no idea what they were saying at the end.
Will i keep watching? Absolutely, but there's still room to improve, and I'm actually hoping it will. I see potential, lets just see where it goes from here.
Rick and Morty: Pickle Rick (2017)
Solid but no magic
An all round solid episode that you can enjoy, but it's not an episode you would recommend to someone new to the show.
Its almost an entire episode with just rick, but as a pickle. Imaginations run wild as it ramps up the pickle factor throughout and slowly simmers down to its conclusion.
It loosely follows the divorce plot again, just like the previous episode, but with more focus on pickles.
Did i mention pickles? Sure did, become this episode is pickle pandemonium, with some amazing pickle action scenes.
All round great episode, would watch again, but I wouldn't say its as strong as rickshank, but stronger than rickmancing.
