Taskmaster: The Natural Friends (2023)
40% unknowns
Well, it was always inevitable. Taskmaster has started down the slippery slope that all multi-competitor shows all descend. 16 series in and they've begun bringing in unknown "celebrities". I only know 3 out of the 5 contestants in this series. Who are Sam Campbell and that Susan whatever her name is? Admittedly I don't watch much regular TV, mainly Netflix, YouTube, Prime, and Disney+, but out of the last 15 series, specials, and champ of champs, I knew everyone.
How long before they end up like "I'm A Celeb...." and have a whole series with a bunch of nobodies? I hope Sue Perkins wins the series, I've had a thing for her for years.
Bill & Ted Face the Music (2020)
Definitely not excellent
As a Bill & Ted fan I was looking forward to this after waiting for so long, and I can honestly say it is one of the worst films I've ever had the displeasure to see.
The story is awful, the "acting" (if you can call it that) is terrible, and the editing is rubbish.
That's 92 minutes of my life I'm never getting back. Such a disappointment. A bad way to finish a trilogy.
The post credit scene didn't help in the slightest either. Avoid at all costs.
The ONLY good thing about this was seeing the original faces from the first 2 films back again, and not some obvious replacements.
Ok, rant over for now.
Taskmaster: God's Haemorrhoid (2020)
Such a let down
10 series in and this is, by FAR, the worst series. 5 "celebrities", none of which are entertaining in the slightest. The most likeable is Mowaan, and evens he's dreary. Every contestant is boring, lacks enthusiasm, has no charisma. The only reason to watch this series is to see who ends up winning, and going through to the Champion of Champions.
Whoever thought these 5 contestants would be good together seriousness to be fired. If they'd been separated and put into different series they might have been better, but together, they are awful.
I usually like Johnny Vegas, but even he is terrible in this.
Daisy is rude, annoying, and thick as pig s**t
Richard is boring and lacks imagination
Catherine is too quiet and depressing
My advise is watch it, but don't expect too much.
Taskmaster: Hello (2019)
Iain F**king Stirling!!!
I've enjoyed every series of Taskmaster up until this one. 80% of the contestants are good-great, but the one let down is the awful, arrogant, annoying, Iain Stirling who ruins the entire series. He has a short temper, doesn't listen to other in group tasks, becomes very rude to others, and doesn't applaud his fellow contestants.
The worst thing is that out of the following series he isn't the only arrogant, short tempered, annoying person to appear but he is, by far, the worst. He's not funny in the slightest. It's difficult to explain the level of hatred he brought out in me watching this series.
Repo Man Uncut (2014)
Fake but mildly entertaining
Possibly the worst acting I e ever seen. Obviously set up, unreal, fake, bull****. It is slightly entertaining though, but Brits aren't that mild mannered when someone comes to take their possessions.
Charmed (1998)
Starts good, progresses downhill
The first 4 series are good, entertaining, funny on occasion, but half way through series 5 it goes downhill...fast. The stories become ridiculous, the acting is unconvincing and wooden, and the special effects are less than special.
Joker (2019)
122 minutes I'm never getting back
Well, I wasn't expecting much and that's exactly what I got, maybe even less than that. Slow going to start, never really picks up, ends way too late. Joacquin is usually a good actor but this is very wooden. Disappointing from the off.
Castle (2009)
First 4 series were great, last 4 started getting ridiculous
As the title says, the first 4 series of Castle were brilliant, 8/10. They were interesting, intriguing, funny, and believable. Then, series 5 happened and it went down hill. A lot of stupid story lines, idiotic episodes, and unreal scenarios. There were a few good episodes, but it lost its focus, only 6/10 for the last 4 series. Hence the 7/10 average.
It's all worth a watch though.
R.I.P.D. (2013)
Men in Black 2 meets Matrix Reloaded
Not a bad film, could have been a lot better though. Good set of actors, fair adaptation from a comic, just a shame that the characters weren't more developed. It feels like there was loads of story left on the cutting room floor. The CGI does look very MIB & Matrix sequel-esque.
Quite entertaining if you're just looking for an easy to watch comic movie.
The Pact (2012)
Total waste of 90ish minutes
One of the worst films I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot of films. Is it a film about a haunting? Is it a film about a murderer? Its BOTH, and it does them badly!!! The lack of background music didn't help it either. The ghost side of the film doesn't really make any sense and the thriller side is totally lacking in thrill. If you want a better scary movie I recommend anything else...even Men In Black is scarier. There isn't enough depth in the characters and the acting isn't really any good. The 'family pictures' shown throughout the film are very badly put together and the plot is diabolical. The only credit I can give this awful film is the actresses chosen to portray the sisters do look quite similar. Very disappointed considering the amount of times the trailers are shown. The only explanation I can think of for this is that the film flopped in the US and the makers want to get as much money back as possible from the UK market.
EDIT Just had a thought, where is this mystical PACT that the film is named after? It just makes no sense at all. I cant understand how some of the reviewers have rated this a 10!!! Maybe their mouse slipped or they have come from the past and this is the first film they have ever seen.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009)
VERY disappointed
I have been an avid fan of Wolverine for over 20 years and I've been waiting for this film to come out for about as long. Now, don't get me wrong, Hugh Jackman plays him very well and the 3 X-Men films are brilliant, but there are so many mistakes in this film its untrue.
First off, the year it starts is 1845 but James Howlett (Wolverine) wasn't born until late 1880's. Second, Victor Creed (Sabertooth) is NO relation to Wolverine at all. Third, Gambit??? What the hell happened there? Fourth, Agent Zero was German, not Chinese and his name is Christoph Nord, NOT David North...I could go on but I wont.
I will say its a good film if you're not a true Wolverine fan that knows all the back story but if, like me, you are a hardcore fan, don't expect anything that you'd expect to expect...if that makes sense?
