Tell Me Lies (2022)
WTF with this?
I watched this after having it on my watchlist for over 6 months. A little late to the party but all I was left thinking after the last episode was WTF did I just watch.
I've read many reviews on this show and I need to back the majority. Both the main leads were so frustrating and unlikeable. I've not read the book and I get the portrayal here was 2 people in a toxic relationship with Steven being the narcissistic, condescending and toxic mcp but what was up with Lucy's behaviour by the end of the show? Her actions mimiced Steven's with the lying, and being a complete hypocritical a****** to her friends especially Pippa. If the idea is to want to punch these characters they played them well. Someone in the reviews said don't focus on the receding hairlines but I'm sorry, this is college and they casted people who look way older which makes them look completely out of place. Also why would anyone be friends with Wrigley? Freaking annoying as hell especially in the scene at Evan's family place. I watched the whole show because I wanted to but boy all the characters (except Evan and Bree) are so unlikeable especially the main leads, they have such similar traits that you don't really feel sorry for Lucy for being with such an a*******! It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either, watch it if you're super bored and have run out of options to watch a decent show.

Frustrating!
I watched this on a whim as I've been drawing a bit of a blank with kdrama's recently. I'm glad it was 12 episodes because any more than that, I probably would've given up getting to the end.
This drama tells the story of a celebrity psychologist and her surgeon husband. Everyone in the family has a secret they're harbouring and this drama depicts how people can use these secrets as weapons against you. The storytelling was all over the place and the explanation as to why someone went to so much trouble to infiltrate and attempt to break up a family leaves the audience wanting more. It was also so frustrating watching the daft actions of some of the characters. Overall not a bad watch but not one of the best either.
Insidious: The Red Door (2023)
Just meh....
I was excited about this movie especially because the original cast were making a return. I remember watching this at the cinema and turning to my husband when it ended asking if we'd blinked and missed a chunk of this movie, it literally is a hot mess. This had so much potential but I felt cheated. The final act was so ridiculous like why would they have gone through everything they did in parts 1 and 2 if the way to 'keep the door closed' was as simple as they depicted in the movie? Point being the writers just got lazy when concluding the story. I watched this a second time thinking I might like it but nope, my first impression lasts! Snooze fest at its finest!
The First Omen (2024)
A prequel done right!
This is has to be one of the best prequels I've seen. It's brilliantly told and I liked how they connected the story with the original Omen movie making this a great contribution to the Omen franchise and honouring the original story! I'm not understanding the low ratings as I thought this was brilliant!
It doesn't rely on cliched jump scares but there's an atmospheric eeriness to it with some very unsettling and frightening scenes too. The lead protagonist was brilliant and so were the supporting cast. If you're a fan of the Omen movies give this a go, you won't be disappointed. I'm a horror fan and this is the best horror movie I've seen in a while! The story didn't drag on even though it comes in at 2hrs! Excellent movie.

Lame, lame and lame!
I felt compelled to write this review - literally lost 2 hours of my life watching what I can only describe as garbage. I think it's pretty fair to say that horror is a tough genre to nail and Bollywood shouldn't even attempt to tackle it. This film isn't just bad, it's wildly bad. I need to have a word with my mother who recommended I watch it.
Story was weak, acting was weak and the actions of some of the characters didn't align with what's going on around them. For instance Ajay Devgan decides to climb out of the window rather than go fight the baddie outside whilst his wife actually shows more courage by fighting R Madhavan's character and save her daughter. There's no common sense to what some of the characters are doing. AND how did the brother survive his head being split open and then being thrown from a significant height on concrete floor? Plus why is he calling his father by his name in the film? Maybe I'm too traditional but I can't stand when a child is addressing their parent/s as 'tu' it's so disrespectful and cheap! Sadly this was why the kid got on my nerves.
I literally fast forward the last 30 mins to bring this mess to an end as I wanted to see why R Madhavan was collecting the girls and that was all a mess and cringe to watch too.
Bottom line nobody invites a complete stranger to join them for lunch after he buys them tea which is an odd thing to do anyway because nobody does that in this day and age. R Madhavan produces a teeny box with a baby ladoo in it and the girl couldn't eat it fast enough but she hates the smell of tea and doesn't eat oily food because she's watching her figure. Point being someone that fussy and mindful wouldn't randomly accept and then consume a ladoo brought in a little box from home. Give this a miss trust me you're not missing much!
Eoneu Nal Uri Jib Hyeongwaeuro Myeolmangyi Deuleowassda (2021)
Meh!
I went by the positive reviews on this and decided to give it a go.
I won't lie I was a little confused somewhat by the end of episode 2 but persevered. By episode 10 I was just so bored! This didn't need to be 16 episodes. Literally nothing was happening, I enjoyed the storyline between the other romantic couples better.
By the time I was on episode 10 I ended fast forwarding until episode 13 and then gave up. The synopsis for each episode after that helped me figure out what the ending was. I don't often stick with dramas that don't have me totally vested by the end of episode 1 but the positive reviews on here made me think I should give it a chance. I'm in the minority here but this was a big yawn! Also the American actor in this needs to work on his acting. It was cringe!
Yakhanyeongung (2022)
Just wow!
This is by far one of my favourite shows. I'd had it on my watchlist for some time now and don't know why it took me a while to watch it! It was worth the wait.
Based on a webtoon this is so well executed. I liked the length of each episode and it literally leaves you wanting more hence why I binge watched this in one day.
The main lead was so believable and the friendship with the other characters is great until it isn't! The pacing is excellent and so is the action. Casting is so good, like all the actors in their respective roles are so so good. I'll definitely be rewatching this, it's that good. Watch this, you won't regret it! Bring on season 2!
Gyeongiroun Somun (2020)
Loved!
This was such a great watch, pulls you in from the beginning and was really good until the end. I loved both seasons of this kdrama. The pacing was great, the actors on both the good and bad sides were really good too! I generally find casting really good in Korean drama's and this was no exception.
The new counter in Season 2 was really funny albeit he wasn't someone you'd consider being a counter given they all have unique gifts and need to have strength to fight the baddies. All in all an entertaining watch for kdrama fans it's got action and some comedy which I enjoyed. Give this one a go if you haven't already!
Ghost House (2017)
Started well then went downhill
This had so much potential but it was like the director got bored and impatient. Got messy and ridiculous at the end! I didn't even make it to the end, fast forwarded to see what happened! Give this one a miss if you're a huge horror fan!
Slasher (2016)
Season 1 is a complete time waste - Season 2 wasn't too bad
I don't know how but I watched the seasons the wrong way around.
Believe all the comments on here about bad acting. Season 1 is the worst. The main character is totally unrelatable, she's so relaxed about everything going on around her it doesn't make you feel for her or what's happening to loved ones around her. There's sooooo many obvious goofs you think to yourself how did they think the audience wouldn't pick up on it.
It's not the worst series but it is ridiculous and totally loses momentum towards the end episodes for both seasons.
