Ready to re-enter the Matrix? “The Matrix Resurrections” premiered in movie theaters and on HBO Max December 22, just in time for the holiday weekend.

Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss reunite for another edition of the groundbreaking film franchise. Reeves reprises his role as Thomas Anderson (a.k.a. Neo), while Moss gets back into character as Tiffany (a.k.a. Trinity), Jada Pinkett Smith returns as Niobe, and Lambert Wilson is back as The Merovingian.

In the fourth installment of the epic sci-fi series, Anderson (Reeves) is once again unsure of his reality. After seeing a therapist (played by Neil Patrick Harris), Anderson finds himself following the white rabbit once more, but, this time around, the Matrix is stronger and more dangerous than before.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II takes over the role of Morpheus in the latest film, which also features Jessica Henwick, Jonathan Groff, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Christina Ricci.

To stream “The Matrix Resurrections” from your TV, laptop, or another compatible device, you must be subscribed to the HBO Max ad-free plan ($14.99 a month). The subscription gets you access to thousands of hours of must-watch movies and addictive TV series, including HBO and HBO Max originals like “Succession,” “Hacks” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “Insecure,” “And Just Like That,” and “The White Lotus.”

Although HBO Max doesn’t have a free trial, non-subscribers can preview some of the content for free before deciding on a paid tier. But there are a few other ways to land a free trial, for at least a week. For example: Hulu offers a free seven-day trial when you try the Hulu with HBO Max plan. To join, choose a Hulu plan (starting at $6.99 a month), add HBO Max to your subscription ($14.99 a month), and stream free for the first week.

AT&T offers free HBO Max with the Unlimited Elite wireless plan, and certain internet and TV plans. You can also get free HBO Max through Verizon unlimited plans, along with DirectTV, and DirectTV Stream. If you’re already subscribed to HBO through Xfinity, Cox, YouTube TV, Optimum, Spectrum, or other providers, you may already have access to HBO Max (check with your provider to be sure).

“The Matrix Resurrections” marks the final Warner Bros. release to debut in theaters and on HBO Max simultaneously. The film, which is directed by Lana Wachowski (who created the original franchise with her sister), will remain on HBO Max for the next 31 days.

Wachowski wrote the script for “The Maxtrix Resurrections” with David Mitchell and Aleksandar Hermon. She  also produced the film, alongside James McTeigue and Grant Hill.
