List of football clubs in Brazil
The Brazilian Football League is highly regionalized because of the vast size of the country. The structure of the league has changed frequently from year to year as different configurations are experimented with. Now, the league has the same configuration of European leagues. Football is by far the most popular sport in Brazil and many of the world's best football players come from the country.
There are in Brazil, 12 clubs considered by the biggest and the most popular in the country. Most part of them have more than 100 years. These 12 teams represent the ones with most tradition and history. Fluminense, Flamengo, Vasco and Botafogo, from Rio de Janeiro; Corinthians, São Paulo, Santos and Palmeiras, from São Paulo; Internacional and Grêmio, from Rio Grande do Sul; Cruzeiro and Atlético Mineiro, from Minas Gerais. However, the list of Brazilian teams in football league is very vast (more than four hundred in Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF)'s official register).
