Summary

Tau isosurfaces for the two-dimensional bipolar coordinates, all of which are perfect circles. Tau ranges from 0.5 (violet) to 2 (red). To obtain the isosurfaces for negative sigma, the circle for the corresponding positive tau value is reflected about the y-axis. The tau=0 isosurface corresponds to the line x=0. This image was made by me with my own software on 23 October 2006. I hereby license this image under the GFDL.
