A U.S. Marine Corps Light Armored Vehicle is driven off of the Motor Vessel Sgt. William R. Button (T-AK 3012) onto the pier at Pohang Harbor, Republic of Korea, on Oct. 15, 1998, for Exercise Foal Eagle '98. Foal Eagle '98 is a combined, joint exercise supported by forces from the U.S. and Republic of Korea. In addition to providing hands-on field experience for forces of both nations, Foal Eagle '98 was designed to test rear area protection operations and major command, control and communications systems. This vehicle is part of a Maritime Prepositioning Force that is especially configured for the U.S. Marine Corps and is being deployed in support of Foal Eagle '98.
