Ivailo Marinov (Bulgarian: Ивайло Маринов) (July 12, 1960 in Varna, also known as Ismail Mustafov, Ismail Huseinov or Ivailo Khristov) is a Bulgarian boxer of Turkish ancestry, who won the bronze medal at the 1980 Summer Olympics in light flyweight, and the gold medal in the same category at the 1988 Summer Olympics
Name
Throughout his career, he competed under several different names. Various references provide different and often contradicting information[citation needed] about his exact birth name and what name he used in which competition. The majority of the sources however seem to suggest, that his original name was Ismail Mustafov, Ismail Huseinov or Ismail Mustafov-Huseinov, and his name was forcibly changed to Ivailo Marinov, Ivailo Khristov or Ivailo Marinov-Khristov under the Zhivkov regime.
Amateur career
Besides his olympics results, he also won the gold medal at the World Championship in 1982.
He also won four gold medals in the European Boxing Championships in 1981, 1983, 1989 and 1991 and a silver medal in 1985.
