Kamaleshwar Mukherjee is a Bengali film director and ad maker. As of March 2013, he directed four movies. In the film Meghe Dhaka Tara, Mukherjee dealt with Bengali film director Ritwik Ghatak's time spent in a mental asylum.[1]

Personal life
Kamaleshwar Mukherjee is a physician by training, and an alumnus of the Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata, when it was affiliated with the University of Calcutta. He moved on initially to the profession of advertisement making and then film making.[2][3]
Career
After working as an advertisement maker, Mukherjee wrote (dialogue/screenplay) Amit Sengupta's film Natobor Notout in 2010. His directorial debut, the well acclaimed film Uro Chithi was released in 2011. This film interwoven 12 text messages with 12 different characters, combining shades of life spanning across 12 months. His next venture was Meghe Dhaka Tara, inspired by the life of Bengali filmmaker Ritwik Ghatak and attempts to portray that period of the life of Ghatak when he was admitted into a mental asylum for treatment. His next film is Chander Pahar, based on a novel of Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay released in December 2013.[1][2] He was also a member and active stage actor of Kolkata-based theatre group "Chetona".
