Talk:Roman numerals

I've added my 'standard orthography' section here, so that there are two descriptions of Roman Numerals side-by-side: a table depicting the conventional form, and a rules-based logical analysis of how the convention works. I believe these two different approaches complement one another and give fuller coverage to the topic. I've provided plenty of sources by which I derived the material, and some of these use the 'dual approach' as well. after much editing and polishing, I believe the section is complete; it's fleshed out, and the logic is flawless. if there are any questions/comments/concerns, feel free to discuss.

I assume there won't be any problems here, since this isn't Wikipedia (where ppl fail at reading comprehension, spout disingenuous arguments, and gatekeep articles) but nonetheless, I stored a copy of the content in a subpage: Talk:Roman_numerals/rules

Since posting this, I've gone back and made styling changes here & there. I can't rule out further tinkering, but it feels even more finished now, especially now that I expanded the examples a bit and made them more complete; and finally resolved the vinculum issue by rescripting! Also, I have reasons for organizing/styling things the way I did -- the examples are in a rough order; the roman numeral script (eg {{rn|VII}} or {{rn|{{overline|VII}}}}, which gives you VII or VII) is applied to correct combos, and left off of incorrect; rule 1 is intentionally redundant with the rest; and so on. Again, I can fill in any details needed. Xcalibur201 (talk) 08:17, 1 February 2025 (UTC)
