How to Make Custom WhatsApp Stickers

This article describes how to make stickers for WhatsApp. The app includes two built-in options; one uses a photo as the source and the other leverages generative AI. These directions work on Android and iOS.

How to Make Stickers for WhatsApp

The easiest way to do this is to use the WhatsApp sticker maker built into the app. Open any existing conversation or start a new one, and then follow these steps to create a sticker:

1. Tap the emoji button next to the message text box.

2. Select the sticker tab, located next to the other tabs for emojis, GIFs, and avatars.

3. Select Create.

4. Choose how you want to create the sticker. Pick Use a photo to make a sticker from a picture, or select Generate with AI to describe the sticker with text.

5. If you picked the photo option, select an image to instantly remove its background. Additional options are available if you wish to edit your creation with text, scribbles, or emojis.

   For the AI sticker maker, type some text to describe how you want the sticker to look, and then tap the one you like.

   Your sticker will be sent to the recipient upon finalizing it. It'll also be stored in the sticker tab where you can use it again later, edit it, or delete it from your collection.

Use a WhatsApp Sticker Maker App

The other way to create personal stickers for WhatsApp is with an app, such as Sticker.ly. It's completely free to use and is available for both iOS and Android devices.

1. Download Sticker.ly for your device:

   iOS
   Android

2. Open the app and tap the blue + icon.

3. Select Animated or Regular. We'll make an animated WhatsApp sticker for this demonstration.

4. Select a video from your library or tap GIF to load something from the gallery.

5. Tap Add at the top.

6. Import other items with the Add button, if you want, or include some text or emojis.

7. Select Save.

8. Tap Save to store the sticker in the default "My stickers" pack, or choose New Pack to organize it elsewhere.

   Both of these fields can called anything you want but if you’re planning to make lots of stickers for WhatsApp, it’s a good idea to pick something descriptive. This is how they will be organized in WhatsApp when you browse your stickers.

9. If you're not already logged in, you'll be asked to do so now. Sign in and then tap Save again to continue.

10. Choose your sticker and then tap Add to WhatsApp > Add. Your sticker is now accessible from the sticker tab in WhatsApp.
