How to Remove Channels from Roku

You can delete an app directly from Roku through the Roku interface on your TV.

You can’t remove a channel from Roku if you have an active subscription to that channel through Roku. If you want to remove the app, cancel the subscription first.

Here’s how to remove channels from Roku:

  1. Navigate to the Roku home screen.

How to Delete Roku Apps Using the Roku Mobile App

Roku also allows you to delete apps and channels from your Roku using the mobile app on your phone. If you don’t have the app, you can download it from Google Play or the App Store and sign in using your Roku account.

Here’s how to delete channels using the Roku app:

Your phone and Roku need to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network to use this method.

  1. In the Roku app, select Devices.

  2. Locate your Roku, and select Connect device.

    If you don't see your Roku, make sure it and your phone are connected to the same wireless network.

  3. Tap Apps on Roku.

  4. Press and hold the channel or app you want to remove.

  5. Tap Remove Channel.

How to Remove Channels from Roku Using the Channel Store

If you’re having trouble finding the channel you want to delete, some Roku models allow you to remove channels from Roku directly from the Channel Store.

This method is available primarily in older Roku models. If you have a newer model with updated firmware and a Streaming Store rather than Channel Store, this method won't work.

  1. Press the home button on your remote.

  2. Select Streaming Channels.

  3. Select the channel you want to remove and press OK on your remote.

  4. Select Remove channel, and confirm when prompted.

What to Do When You Can’t Remove a Channel From Roku

If you’re having trouble removing a channel from Roku, make sure that you don’t have an active subscription to the channel through Roku. You can’t remove a channel with an active subscription, so you'll need to cancel it first.

Here are some other things to try if you’re having trouble removing a channel from Roku:

  • Check your network status. If your Roku can’t connect to the Roku servers, then you won’t be able to remove channels. Check to see if you can stream, open the channel store, and check other functionality to make sure everything is working.
  • Check for Roku updates. You may need to update the Roku firmware, which you can do by navigating to Settings > System > System Update > Check now. After updating, check to see if you can delete channels.
  • Restart your Roku TV. Navigate to Settings > System > Power > System restart > Restart. Then turn the Roku TV back on and see if you can delete channels.
  • Reset your network hardware. Even if you can stream, there may be a network connectivity issue. Try resetting your modem and router, then check to see if you can remove channels.
  • Factory reset your Roku. This is a last resort, as you will need to set your Roku up from scratch when you’re done. To factory reset a Roku, navigate to Settings > System > Advanced System Settings > Factory reset.
