Addressing missed deadlines with a team member requires a thoughtful approach. Start by having a private conversation to understand any challenges they might be facing and explain how their delays impact the team. Establish clear expectations and offer resources or support to help them manage their tasks better. Introducing a system of accountability, such as regular check-ins or milestone reviews, can also keep the project on track and ensure deadlines are met.

Without finger-pointing or blame, engage the team in a workshop in which they define tasks, roles and responsibilities, barriers and then finish with ownership and deadlines. This will encourage the member(s) who miss deadlines without putting the spotlight on him or her.
