In the face of urgent cyber threats, staying resilient as a team isn’t just about skills – it’s about spirit. Here’s how I approach it: - Transparent Communication: Keep everyone in the loop. Share what’s known, what’s being done, and the impact each member’s role has in containing the threat. - Recognition Matters: Acknowledge the small victories. Regular recognition keeps morale strong and shows that every effort counts. - Encourage Mental Wellness: Cyber crises are intense – ensuring my team takes breaks and practices stress-relief helps sustain focus and avoid burnout. Cyber threats are complex, but with the right approach, we can tackle them while keeping our teams engaged and motivated.
-
1. Unity: "Together, we overcome challenges stronger than we ever imagined." 2. Focus: "Stay sharp—each move counts, and we're making a difference." 3. Resilience: "Adapt quickly, stay calm; we've faced worse and prevailed." 4. Purpose: "Every action protects, every effort strengthens our mission's success."

When facing urgent cyber threats, keeping team morale high requires strong leadership and clear support. Recognize the pressure they’re under and openly acknowledge their hard work and expertise in handling the situation. Break down tasks into manageable steps, providing a clear action plan that allows the team to see progress. Offer additional resources or assistance to lighten their load and maintain regular communication to keep everyone aligned and focused. Celebrating small wins during the crisis can boost motivation, reminding them of their critical role in protecting the organization.

It is critical to maintain a sense of togetherness and cooperation in the face of critical incidents, as it requires working long hours and in a very proactive manner. In this sense, the work is upstream, working on the team feeling, and downstream, so that your workers know that they will be rewarded and given a proper rest after the chaos. A few pizzas to boost morale and a moment of disconnection and rest in the middle of the chaos are also to be appreciated!

1. Stay calm. Don't panic. Don't rush. 2. Follow the incident response plan systematically and adapt to the threats as needed. 3. Be kind to stressed out co-workers, bosses, employees. 4. Clearly and objectively communicate the situation on the ground with relevant stakeholders. 5. If in-house employees don't have the expertise to handle the threats then don't hesitate to reach out to your IR retainer / IR response partner for help. The most important part is to remain calm and objectively address threats. Of course, clear and documented communication is also paramount. Taking all of the above steps in line with the IR plan can go a long way in addressing and neutralizing any potential harm from threats or threat actors.

Clearly communicate the severity of the situation and the importance of each team member's role in mitigating the threat. Acknowledge the pressure, but focus on actionable steps and quick wins to maintain momentum. Offer support and resources to help the team work efficiently, and encourage collaboration to leverage everyone's strengths. Keep the team informed with regular updates and provide positive reinforcement for progress made. Based on my experience, sustaining motivation during a crisis starts with fostering a mission-driven culture. Remind your team of the critical role they play in protecting the organization and its stakeholders—it transforms pressure into purpose. Pair this with structured incident management processes to instill confidence. Celebrating small wins during ongoing incidents is another effective morale booster; it reinforces progress and keeps energy high. Finally, embed wellness practices into daily operations. For example, rotating shifts and providing professional counseling support can mitigate burnout. Resilience thrives on preparation—ensure training includes not just technical skills but psychological readiness.

first is to communicate. we have an issue and are reviewing the issues. cannot share details right now. will share a update in a hour or so. first is to communicate that we have threat. tell people to stop accessing sites or data which will or spread.
