As a leader of international sales teams, I've faced team members who challenged my authority. The key is balancing empathy and clarity. First, I listen to understand their perspective, fostering open communication and trust. Then, I refocus the conversation on shared goals, ensuring that expectations are clear and aligned. I remind them that leadership isn't about pulling rank, but about working toward our collective success. By staying confident, setting clear boundaries, and maintaining accountability, I turn challenges into opportunities for growth and collaboration.

Whenever it happens the first thing to do is keep our emotions out of it. Understand why the person is behaving in such a manner. Engage in open discussion with the person to understand his point of view and explain your viewpoint. Once the air is cleared, discuss common goals and their achievements together.
