When there is a new joiner, the first few things that should happen are:
(1) Give a brief orientation of where things are and whom to contact if you have any questions.
(2) Introduce the team members to the broader team.
(3) schedule a 1-2-1 on the first day to set expectations on roles, priorities, and buddies to get up to speed.
(4) In the first few weeks, have 1-2-1 weekly.
(5) Create an environment that allows the new member to catch up at any time to set the tone.
(6) Assigning a buddy for the first few weeks to work with the new joiner to settle them, check in with the new employee & buddy separately and together.
These allow the new team members to get to know each other, address concerns, clarify roles, and integrate into the team.
