Team recognition starts with individuals.
The best way to make people feel seen, heard and valued is by tapping into their unique abilities.
When each team member know what they bring to the team, how they contribute, how their unique ability helps the whole team, how they make a difference, then they feel seen, heard and valued. They know their work matters. This makes them feel like an important part of the group.
Remember, a strong team is made up of individuals who feel appreciated. When each person feels seen and understood, the whole team becomes stronger. This is how we create a team where everyone feels they belong and can do their best work.

Publicly acknowledge their efforts during team meetings and highlight specific examples of their contributions. Provide positive feedback and express appreciation both privately and in front of the team. Encourage peer recognition by creating a culture where team members regularly acknowledge each other’s achievements. Additionally, consider offering opportunities for professional development or new responsibilities to show that their work is valued.

Be specific.
It is so easy to say, “great job, team! You nailed it!” But what does that even mean? Take the time to specifically call out the individual contributions of each team member and how those contributions made you feel as a leader. Then bring it to the group and show how the collective work is greater than the sum of all parts (that you just described specifically and individually) and THEN loop back and talk feelz and outcomes again. Keep it specific (to the individual and the team outcome) and authentic. I am really good at this because I get a ton of practice with my team :).
